How do you get a star to notice you? I have a crush on Katherine McPhee. You my have seen the YouTube video I made. But how would I go about getting a date with her?
While it's perfectly natural to have a crush on a celebrity, when you take that passion to the next level by assuming you have a chance to go out with her, you're heading into delusional territory. First of all, from what I understand, Katherine McPhee has a longtime boyfriend. But far more importantly, I don't think celebrity crushes are meant to ever be realized. Take it from someone who's actually gone out with famous people she thought she liked based on what she'd heard or read about them -- most celebrities aren't anything like their PR would have you believe.
In our society, which is essentially devoid of inspirational substantive role models, celebrities have somehow come to represent all of our wish fulfillment and fantasies. But having a crush on one is as similar to going out with her as reading a magazine story about her is like having her tell you her story in person. Your McPhee fantasy sounds like it's brought you happiness and excitement; my best advice is that you keep it in the fantasy realm and find a girl that perhaps resembles or is like her in some way to actually date.
