Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Bros., with over 40 million copies sold, almost single-handedly saved the video game industry and turned millions of kids in to gamers for life. In 1985, Super Mario Bros. was released with the Nintendo Entertainment System, so it was the first game a lot of gamers ever played. The game followed the story of a plumber named Mario who had to traverse through different worlds via pipes in order to save Princess Peach from the evil Bowser.

Thanks to Mario's appearance in Donkey Kong, people were already familiar with the loveable character. The game had addictive mechanics, precision controls, groundbreaking design for its time, and it simply revolutionized gaming and the way people thought about it.
