#44 Grand Theft Auto IV

Grand Theft Auto IV

Grand Theft Auto IV was this generation's most controversial and arguably most groundbreaking title. Taking place in the hugely expansive Liberty City, players were put in the boots of Niko Bellic, a war vet who got caught up a life of crime. GTA IV basically took everything that gamers loved about the Grand Theft Auto series and bumped it up a few notches.
What's great about Grand Theft Auto IV is that Liberty City in and of itself is a character. Amidst gunfights and hookers, you can explore and wreak havoc in the city to your heart's content. This really let players feel like they were in control and could do anything they wanted, even if that meant firing rocket launchers at police choppers.
