Turn-based strategy aficionados can all agree that Sid Meier's Civilization II deserves to be on this list. Civilization II was a PC game released in 1996 but was later released for the PlayStation in 2002. A third version was released in 2006, this time for Windows 2000 and XP.

One of the core changes in Civilization 2 is the change from top-down view to isometric. The AI was vastly improved as well, which meant the removal of random events. There are a total of 21 civilizations for gamers to explore, conquer and destroy.
