Gauntlet
Fantasy-themed hack and slash arcade game, Gauntlet, is responsible for more lost quarters than we can count. 1985 marked the release of the first multiplayer dungeon crawl arcade game, thanks to Gauntlet. Up to four players choose between playing Thor the Warrior, Merlin the Wizard, Thyra the Valkyrie, or Questor the Elf. Each character had its own unique skills.
Gauntlet gives us countless hours of dungeon crawling and our first glimpse into the potential of multiplayer. But more than any of that, it gives us the phrase, "Red warrior needs food badly!"
