CD Projekt Red is getting a bit more specific now with its plans for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, confirming that the open world RPG will be coming to PlayStation 4, PC, and "all high-end platforms available" in 2014. The press release doesn't come out and say that the game will come to the next-gen Xbox, but the writing between the lines is clear enough.

Interestingly, the press release mentions a few of the other developers who were offered early access to PS4 hardware for work on titles "shipping early in the PlayStation 4's life cycle." All of the names that you'd expect are there, but they're joined by LucasArts. The Star Wars 1313 dev has yet to confirm release timing or platform availability for that game, but this suggests we may be seeing the underworld shooter again soon.

CDPR's press release only mentions a 2014 launch for Wild Hunt, though the wording of the press release suggests as well that it could surface in the early days of the PS4 as well. Q1/Q2? Perhaps. We'll have to wait and see.

Sony revealed the first details on Guerilla Games' Killzone: Shadow Fall at the PlayStation 4 reveal, and now Guerilla Games producer Steven Ter Heide confirms on PlayStation Blog that the game will be a launch title. There's no release date yet, for either the console or the game, but we'll no doubt hear more info on that count in the months to come.

Killzone: Shadow Fall picks up 30 years after the events of Killzone 3, with the world split up between the Helghast and Vektan factions, living side by side in a future city that is cut in half by a giant wall. You play as the Shadow Marshal, "the most special of special forces," as you're tasked with keeping the peace.

This summer's long-overdue X-Man solo outing, The Wolverine has released a new photo of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine squinting at someone...hard.

Yeah, so it isn't exactly "stop the presses" kind of material, but given the ultra-secretive, piecemeal way that revelations about this film have been rolled-out, it's equivalent to your waiter bringing out a lowly, but welcome piece of bread to the table as your stomach growls in hunger, desperately waiting for, in the very least, your appetizer. For the purposes of that metaphor, the "appetizer" in question is the film's trailer, which, much like the film itself over the years, keeps getting delayed.

So, is there anything we can glean from this new photo? Clearly, some people in this Japanese joint have rubbed Logan the wrong way. Rather than utilizing his usual method of breaking out his trusty adamantium claws to eviscerate the bastards before lighting up a big fat stogy, he's killing the bad guys with the overwhelming power of righteous indignation. (Which, for all we know, may be a supplemental mutant power he possess.) Watch out, Silver Samurai, that shiny armor won't protect you from the all-powerful Stink Eye of Doom.

It's official: the PlayStation 4 will NOT block the playing of used games. Rumors had suggested that it would in the weeks and months leading to Sony's PS4 announcement, but Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that that is not the case, in an interview with Eurogamer.

"So, used games can play on PS4," he responded after conferring with PR reps when pressed for confirmation. It doesn't get much more straightforward than that. Eurogamer also learned that recently discovered Sony patents that suggest used games COULD be blocked has nothing to do with the PS4.

Gamers, breathe easy. Just remember that the relief you're feeling is nothing compared to the relief that GameStop execs must be feeling at this news.

BioShock Infinite fans will have a chance to continue their adventures in the floating city of Columbia thanks to a newly announced BioShock Infinite Season Pass. Irrational Games and 2K Games are planning three DLC drops that "will provide hours of additional gameplay and continue the player’s journey in the sky-city of Columbia with new stories, characters, abilities and weapons."

Remember that BioShock Infinite has no multiplayer or co-op modes, so any add-on content will likely be purely story-driven. Season Pass holders will also receive the Early Bird Special Pack, containing four pieces of exclusive gear, Machine Gun and Pistol damage upgrades, a gold skin for both of those weapons, and five Infusion bottles that offer players the choice between boosting their health, shield, or Salt (used to power Vigors) capacity.

BioShock Infinite launches on March 26, 2013, and the Season Pass will be available that day as well for $19.99 / 1,600 MS Points.

It's official: the PlayStation 4 is coming in fall 2013.

Sony's much-publicized PlayStation Meeting offered up the first details on what the company's plans are for the next hardware generation, the centerpiece of which is a new PlayStation 4. The console is built on PC architecture as opposed to the Cell processor that beats at the heart of the PS3. The PS4 also sports significantly more memory than its predecessor -- 8GB -- and an unnamed, high-end graphics processor.

The switch from Cell to x86 architecture and the memory boost were both informed by early R&D interviews that Sony conducted with its development partners. The PS3's design has proven itself to be a bit of a stumbling block for multi-platform devs, so the PS4's "supercharged PC" is meant to address that.

Sony just announced the PS4 and said it will be available this Holiday Season (2013).

We'll have a much more detailed breakdown of Sony’s (2 and ½ hour) announcement for you shortly but the biggest takeaways were Sony’s laser focus on streamlined social integration, connectivity options even when you are away from the console, and upgraded background processing (reduced download times). A few new games were announced (Killzone: Shadow Fall, inFamous: Second Son) and Chris Metzen from Blizzard revealed Diablo 3 will be coming to the PS4 and PS3.

Nothing during the announcement knocked my socks off but it’s still early and we don’t know much.

Could Mark Hamill be ready to once again pick up his lightsaber for the upcoming Star Wars Sequel Trilogy? Well, in a recent interview with ET, Hamill seems to confirm that the prospects of him reprising Luke Skywalker are quite likely.

While the 2015 release of the yet-to-be-titled Star Wars: Episode VII has opened the floodgates of rumors, one narrative which carries a distinct ring of truth seems to surround the impending return of the Original Trilogy cast, reuniting fans with older versions of the characters set several years after the fall of the Galactic Empire in Return of the Jedi. This is especially so with the recent, yet-to-be-confirmed report of Harrison Ford being secretly locked-in and official for a return as Han Solo. Yet, the prospective return of Hamill as the character that is essentially the main protagonist of the entire mythos seems even more of an inevitability. Thus, Hamill does not seem to play coy when it comes to that possibility, as he candidly reveals that he is indeed in talks with the new Disney-sized Lucasfilm coalition.

"They're talking to us," he reveals. "George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we'd be interested. He did say that if we didn't want to do it, they wouldn't cast another actor in our parts – they would write us out. … I can tell you right away that we haven't signed any contracts. We're in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with Michael Arndt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm. Both have had meetings set that were postponed -- on their end, not mine. They're more busy than I am." 

While those talks don't seem to be taking place with a sense of urgency, it could very well be the case that the big brass are waiting for director, J.J. Abrams to finish things up with his current baby, Star Trek Into Darkness. Once the film hits on May 17 and Abrams has fulfilled all the ensuing creative and promotional obligations, the living envy of the sci-fi world will be able to turn his full attention to casting details and the shoot itself.

However, Hamill would be walking into this project with an ideal about where Luke Skywalker is in his life and how the film should come across.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs won't be making its previously promised early 2013 release, with Frictional Games confirming that the plan is now for a Q2 2013 launch. This is actually the game's second delay, after it was pushed out from a planned 2012 release. Don't freak out though. It's for good reason.

It seems that A Machine for Pigs had originally been planned as a "short, experimental game," but the team at thechineseroom went a little nuts and filled out a lot more content than was originally planned. So instead of waiting less time for a shorter, potentially less satisfying game, you're waiting more time for a full, proper GAMER'S game. Or something.

The point is... you'll be able to get your freak-out on a few months later than expected.

Sony's ongoing series of PlayStation Evolution videos appears to be complete, with one last video that considers the publishers attitude toward the games you can play on its systems. There may well be one more video to add to this collection come tomorrow, after today's highly anticipated PlayStation Meeting brings the reveal of the company's next gaming console (probably).

The event kicks off this evening at 6pm ET. Expect a flood of news and commentary to follow it, though you'll be able to watch everything as it happens in any number of livestreams (including Sony's own). For now, hit play, sit back, and reflect on how the PlayStation brand has evolved over the past decade-plus. Mostly because it's more constructive than beating your head against the wall while you wait.

The prequel campaign in Gears of War: Judgment promises to satisfy longtime fans of the series on the story side, but for many, multiplayer is where the fun really begins. This new, Baird-hosted trailer runs through an assortment of facts and figures covering Judgment's online play, revealing a few tidbits that hadn't been discussed much previously.

Versus, for example, offers Team Deathmatch, Free-For-All, and Domination (think Call of Duty) match types. There's also a peek at the Markza rifle, a new standard loadout weapon for sharpshooters with a medium-range sniper scope and more stopping power than your typical assault rifle. Pass sentence on Gears of War: Judgment yourself when the game arrives on March 19, 2013.

Square Enix hasn't even shown Murdered: Soul Suspect publicly yet, but the mystery game now has a release window set for early 2014, the publisher confirms. The game is coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC platforms, and there's no hint in the press release that it might also be headed to other home consoles, perhaps unannounced home consoles.

The hook in Murdered is that you're trying to solve a murder mystery in which you yourself are the victim. It's not an entirely original idea, but it's a neat one with a lot of potential for cool ideas to emerge. Find out more about the game at its official website, on Twitter, and on Facebook.

There's been a flurry of unconfirmed news about Ubisoft's E3 2012 charmer Watch Dogs in recent days, including some indication that the game is coming in fall 2013 and news of a possible Wii U release. First came the release window, via marketing materials that were leaked to Kotaku. They even make reference to my own Watch Dogs preview for G4 from E3 last year.

The promo materials suggest that the game is heading to "all home consoles," a rather vague description when you remember that Ubi previously confirmed plans to release Watch Dogs on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. In related news, newly discovered product listings at GameStop, Amazon, and Best Buy suggest that a Wii U version of the game is coming as well (via All Games Beta).

Ubisoft confirms none of this, though a statement released to Kotaku offers more than your usual "no comment," as you can see right here: "Ubisoft is pleased with the response for Watch Dogs from media and fans. The game is an original IP that has been created from the ground up at Ubisoft Montreal with inspiration from many titles and ideas the studio has worked on throughout the years."

The upcoming sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes now has its star. Actor, Jason Clarke has been cast to play the primary character in this "monkey apocalypse" follow-up.

Clarke, a working actor in the business since the mid-90's, has recently began to make quite a splash with roles in Zero Dark Thirty, Lawless, and in Baz Luhrmann's rendition of The Great Gatsby, which is set to hit this May. He now takes top billing in this follow-up to the 2011 franchise revival prequel, Rise of the Planet of the Apes alongside a digitally-rendered Andy Serkis, who will reprise his role as leader of the Ape revolt, Caesar.

While not much is known about the film's plot at this stage, it has been revealed that it will be set 15 years after the initial liberation of the drug-modified primates at a point where the world is overrun with their kind. The film will center around a group of human scientist survivors (presumably led by Clarke's character,) set up in San Francisco, which, in the last film, was ground zero for the Ape invasion. It will also focus on the continuing saga of Caesar and the political drama he must face amongst his bitter, banana-biting brethren over control of the Ape army.

In the build-up to 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes, pre-release reactions were somewhat tepid and incredulous, dismissing it as yet another contrived Hollywood reboot effort. However, it managed to strike a chord and the film would become a hit, grossing over $481 million worldwide. This was likely due to its impressive visuals and surprisingly-accessible pathos, rather than the presence of its star, James Franco; an idea that may come as a relief for this Franco-less sequel. It will also see Cloverfield director, Matt Reeves replace Rupert Wyatt at the helm.

Today sees the release of The Tyranny of King Washington: The Infamy, the first of three episodes in a solo play-focused DLC campaign for Assassin's Creed 3. Ubisoft's alternate history story -- because, you know, that stuff with Connor Kenway is TOTALLY true -- posits that George Washington establishes himself as a monarch in the post-Revolutionary War America.

Two more episodes -- The Betrayal and The Redemption -- will follow on March 19 and April 23, 2013, respectively. They'll be available individually for $9.99 / 800 MS Points or as part of the $29.99 / 2,400 MS Point Season Pass. Get a peek at the first DLC episode in the launch trailer up top.
