Comic-Con 2010

X-Play's Adam Sessler caught up with LucasArts writer Haden Blackman at Comic-Con 2010 to find out more about the new storyline, new force powers, and where the force will take players in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II Comic-Con 2010 Interview »

At Comic-Con 2010 a couple weeks ago, there was a Gears of War panel hosted by X-play's Adam Sessler, and at that panel, they discussed a little game called Gears of Wars 3.  Have you heard of that game? It's apparently very popular. In fact, just about every gamer on the entire planet is waiting for it to come out. Who knew? Luckily, Gears creator Cliff Bleszinski was at Comic-Con, ready to drop major info on the title.

Are you dying to find out what changes they made, what new weapons they added and removed? What abilities they amped up and what got Nerfed? Well your questions will be answers only by watching the Gears of War Comic-Con 2010 Q & A Panel below. Go ahead I'll turn around and not look.

We stuck Bungie community director Brian Jarrard with an interview grenade (yeah, we have those) during Comic-Con 2010, which promptly forced him to tell us more about Halo: Reach’s storyline, as well as some of the game’s new abilities and gameplay modes. Enjoy (don’t make us toss a listening bomb in your direction).

First Tron Legacy Image & Poster Unveiled

The interwebs were buzzing like a Bit without its Program this morning, after Cinemablend posted an article with purported leaked tracks from the the upcoming TRON: Legacy soundtrack, composed by electronic music stars, Daft Punk.  The article linked to a series of YouTube-hosted videos that featured the film's logo backed by electronic music.  A short while later, Cinematical posted a denial, saying "all of the tracks posted are fakes and fan created."

However, The Feed has exclusive video after the jump that might make you think otherwise.

The Comic-Con Trailer For Thor Hits The Web

The much-discussed trailer for Marvel's Thor, which was shown last week at Comic-Con is finally starting to work its way to the Internet, and despite what Odin might think, it is actually quite worthy of its title. Unfortunately, uploads have been disappearing faster than a lost iPad left on a park bench outside an Apple Store. Therefore, I hope that enough people get a chance to see this, because it quite impressive. If you think director and Shakespearean legend Kenneth Branagh plans to utilize Marvel's Thunder God for some pretentious costumed epic with soliloquies, suicidal maidens, and poison-tipped rapier duels, think again! Based on what we see, Thor is a hybrid epic of the classical tragedy, Arthurian destiny, with intense action that works quite well. Do check out the video below. (Which will hopefully still work.)

UPDATE: We're currently working to improve the sync between the video and audio within this episode. Instead of pulling the current video, we're leaving it up until it can be replaced, so you can still enjoy the banter.

If you're able to tear your eyes and ears away from StarCraft II for a little while, you can feast them on this week's Feedback. In our "We Survived Comic-Con!" Edition, we wrap up the Comic-Con news with some highlights, and talk about what's ahead. Check out this week's biggest game news, reviews and more with host Adam Sessler, Matt Keil, Rob Manuel, Jake Gaskill and ... myself, Kevin Kelly.

Feedback -- Post Comic-Con Edition »

While I harvest vespene gas with one hand, let me tell you what we talked about on this week's Feedback with the other:

  • We wrapped up all the Comic-Con news that was fit to print, and talk about some of the highlights. New Halo: Reach features?! The new Cole look in inFamous 2 gets jettisoned?? There are over 100,000 sweaty people at the Con?!
  • Limbo and Deathspank both managed to impress us. A lot. We talk about why you'll want to play them.
  • It might take all of the superpowers in the world to define what actually makes a hardcore gamer, but we take a crack at it. What do you think make a gamer hardcore? You could play Farmville for eight hours a day, but does that make you hardcore? Maybe it depends on your definition.

Feedback: A lot more fun than a pen in the eye.

World of Warcraft Virtual Cash Gets Real

Ever wanted to carry some legal tender from the world of Azeroth around in your pocket? Maybe this would make you feel like you're still connected with the World of Warcraft, even while you're miles away from your computer. Just don't accidentally spend it, because you'll regret losing your limited edition Varian Wrynn gold coin.

We spotted this change jingling inside the DC Direct cases at Comic-Con. The expensive pocket coins (costing a real-world $69.99) comes in both Horde and Alliance flavors, and features a major player on one side with their corresponding city on the other. They come with a special display case, but we're hoping these end up in the hip pockets and change purses of gamers all over. Undercity piece of silver for your thoughts?

Hall H Of Horror: The Comic-Con Attack

It wasn't exactly the crime of the century (or even the crime of the month), but the assault at Comic-Con this past Saturday is notable, if only for its setting. Although the trailers and movie scenes shown at the Con are often very brutal, actual violence at the San Diego nerd gathering has been all but non-existent... until this year.

At Hall H on Saturday, near the end of the Resident Evil: Afterlife panel, an altercation broke out between, reportedly, two friends, both wearing limited edition Comic-Con 2010 Harry Potter T-shirts. The incident reportedly started when a fan suggested his friend leave his seat at the panel because he wasn't into what was being shown, and ended when one stabbed the other near his eye with a pen. After the assault, the suspect was held by attendees of the Convention until security and the police could take him away to jail, where I'm sure he had fun telling other inmates what he was in for. The stabee was taken to a local hospital; His injuries are apparently not life-threatening.

Now we know that Comic-Con was last weekend and some of you may not have read all of our live blogs for every panel we covered. That's why we have Stephen Johnson, Dana Vinson, Mike D'Alonzo, and X-Play's Matt Keil describing their experiences at the panels they attended and comical or wacky moments at the convention. In case you hadn't heard, there was this little convention in San Diego last week that had some movie people, some video games, and a couple of comics. I think it might have been the boat show. Either that or Comic-Con. But of course, Adam Sessler was there to not only do his duty for G4, but he also hosted a couple panels himself, and found a little piece of his own nerd nostalgia inside Artist Alley. Check out this week's Soapbox to hear about Adam's experience at Comic-Con 2010.

Capcom Announces Street Fighter Vs. Tekken Games

In spite of its name, San Diego's Comic-Con is dominated by movies -- Hollywood always makes the biggest splash at the show by far. Comic Book sellers and artists are relegated to one part of the hall, and video games have an even smaller footprint than that. But that doesn't mean gaming's isn't on display.

This year, the big news was fighting games. Specifically, Street Fighter x Tekken and Tekken x Street Fighter. Pitting the fighters of Tekken against the Street Fighters in two different game seem more like a dream a sixth grader would have than actual products, but they are real, and they were announced at Comic-Con this year. Check it out in the video below:
