If not, why not?

Nintendo today announced their lineup for the upcoming Comic-Con in San Diego this week, and it includes Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies for the Nintendo DS,  and Metroid: Other M for the Wii. Sadly, Nintendo made no announcements about whether the Nintendo 3DS will be onhand to make its first appearance to the Comic-Con attending masses, so I'm heavily leaning toward: "Sorry."

Nicolas Cage Confirmed For Ghost Rider 2

It seems that Ghost Rider will once again leave behind flaming tracks and fetal-positioned, shivering, mind-raped criminals on the big screen. On The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Nicolas Cage revealed, in no ambiguous terms, that the long-discussed sequel entitled Ghost Rider: Spirits of Vengeance is a go. He also confirmed that taking the helm of film, will be directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, whose work you may have seen in Gamer, and the two Crank films. The confirmation of this creative team has also reignited rumors that this sequel will take a darker, more action-oriented turn than its 2007 predecessor, possibly even marketing it as an R-rated film.

 The Best Comic-Book Video Games

Everyone knows that one of the quickest ways to doom a game to the bargain bin is to slap the words "Based on the movie!" on the front cover. For some reason, almost every video game made from movies are immediately cursed to suckitude. But thankfully, that's not always the case with comic books. In fact, some upcoming titles based on comics (or their world) look particularly droolworthy. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions has excited across multiple dimensions, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is all over our charts. Then there's Comic Jumper, which is looking like a day one pickup.

So below are some of our favorite comic book video games for you to enjoy or berate us over. And while we're talking comic books, don't forget we'll be working hard from preview night through Sunday covering Comic-Con 2010, live-blogging your favorite panels, schmoozing with the stars and bringing you a little taste of San Diego for those trapped at home. Plus, on July 24th, G4 will be running 4 hours of live coverage from Comic-con, making Saturday the ultimate geek day to remember!

First Official Look At Ryan Reynolds As Green Lantern

Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first official image of Ryan Reynolds in full CGI-adorn bad-assery as The Green Lantern. (See the image below.) The big reveal happens to grace the cover of the latest issue, which features the publication's Comic-Con preview. (A concept which, in itself is still surreal.) When it was revealed that Reynold's big-screen turn as the emerald crusader would involve him wearing a motion capture suit, speculation/hating went rampant about how genuine a computer-generated costume would look on screen. With the image finally out there, don't expect the divisions of opinion to clear anytime soon.

Update: Mark Ruffalo In Talks To Be The New Hulk

After the recent drama that went down with the exit of Edward Norton from the Marvel Movie Universe as the Hulk, one would not expect to hear any news so soon about their plans for the green brute with anger management issues. However, according to a report from Deadline, Marvel may already have someone lined-up to take Norton's place. Enter Mark Ruffalo (The Kids Are All Right, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Collateral.) No details have emerged about how this came to be, but the actor is reportedly in late-stage talks to snag the role, which could mean that either Marvel worked this out in record speed, or that the dismissal of Edward Norton was something they knew was on the horizon for quite a while.

Thor & Captain America Will Be Coming At You In 3D!

Nowadays, announcing that a film is going to be released in 3D is commonplace. So you'd think that the breaking news that Avengers crossover films Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger being set for a 3D release would be rather pedestrian. However, the real story seems to be the passion that's emanating from the films' directors Kenneth Branagh (Thor) and Joe Johnston (Captain America) about the ability of 3D to enhance the experience of their films. In a recent interview with the LA Times, they not only unveil an all-new exclusive photo of the primary cast of Thor (see below,) but they reveal some info about said films and plan to make the case that this isn't going to be some quick last-minute gimmick like the badly-converted Clash of the Titans.
