Attack of the Show's tech guru Matt Mira and guest host Drew Holmes recently took a look at the Nintendo 3DS XL. The 3DS XL is larger thanks to having 90% more screen, and the biggest improvement is probably the battery life. The handheld console will set you back $200, but if you're a Nintendo fanboy, you're going to need it. Find out what AOTS had to say about Nintendo's latest console.

It looks like most of Level-5's Guild01, the Nintendo 3DS-exclusive game compilation developed by a supergroup of Japanese game designers, is headed to the U.S. and Europe for a 3DS eShop release. Three of the collection's four titles will be released a la carte in the eShop sometime in fall 2012, with Suda 51's Liberation Maiden already available in Europe.

Guild01 was first revealed in October 2011, bringing together a group of Japanese game developers that includes Suda 51 (No More Heroes), Yoot Saito (Seaman, SimTower), and Yasumi Matsuno (Vagrant Story). Their three games -- Liberation Maiden, Air Porter, and Crimson Shroud, respectively -- are all confirmed for the U.S./Europe eShops.

New Super Mario Bros. 2

New Super Mario Bros 2 DLC will launch this Thursday, October 4, 2012. Nintendo will be launching three packs of content for $2.50 each. These content packs will include three courses for Coin Rush mode. We here about add-ons for other games all the time, but this will be Nintendo's first step into the world of downloadable content. The Big N hopes to add even more content to New Super Mario Bros 2 throughout the fall.

Keep reading to see some details on the three DLC packs.

Donkey Kong

Nintendo is offering a cool eShop promotion to encourage purchases of two newly released titles in the 3DS eShop, Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone! and Crossword Plus. Purchase either of those through the platform's online store and register it by January 6, 2013 and you'll receive Donkey Kong: Original Edition as a free download.

You'll need to sign up for Club Nintendo and then purchase either game through the 3DS eShop to take advantage, of course. Art Academy and Crossword Plus each sell for $29.99. The free Donkey Kong won't be available for purchase and it includes content that hasn't been seen in the U.S. before. Presumably it's the same updated version of Donkey Kong (featuring an extra stage) that was given away in Japan with New Super Mario Bros. 2 eShop purchases.

Nintendo's latest streaming Nintendo Direct conference brought big news for New Super Mario Bros. 2 fans in the form of details on three upcoming DLC packs. The extra content arrives in Japan on October 2, 2012 for the rough equivalent of $2.50, though there's been no word yet on plans or pricing for North America or Europe releases.

Joystiq runs through the translated titles and details for each of the Nintendo 3DS game's three packs. "Go! Go! As Gold Mario Pack" adds three Gold Mario levels to the game, with a possible 30,000 additional coins to be collected. "Challenge the Record A Pack" seems to simply allow for high scores to be posted on the game's website (though that can't be right, can it?). Finally, "Survival Panic Pack" adds a challenging selection of levels to the game.

We'll have additional details to share once Nintendo puts out an English-language press release.

EX TROOPERS

Ex Troopers is the Lost Planet 3 anime style spinoff from Capcom. The title was only recently announced and as of yet we still don't know if it's coming to the states. Nevertheless, Jake Gaskill got his hands on Ex Troopers at Tokyo Game Show and was able to get a feel for its controls and style in his latest preview. Here's a piece:

"You also have a grappling hook, but it looks like you can only use it in on designated objects or specific spots. Luckily, you have a slick looking jetpack that you can use to fly short distances, lunge forward, and strafe. Lost Planet’s lack of mobility---or rather, the series’ oddly designed sense of movement---has always been one of the big turn offs for me, and while it’s obviously meant to fit in with Ex Troopers’ more fanciful anime style, the faster paced action is much more fluid and responsive than the weighty, grounded feel of Lost Planet."

monster hunter 4

Monster Hunter 4 was one of the biggest draws of Tokyo Game Shows 2012. The action role-playing game brings the hugely popular series to the Nintendo 3DS and Nikole Zivalich got to see it in action. Here's a piece of her Monster Hunter 4 preview:

The 15 minute demo consisted of 10 small points on a map. They ranged from grass fields with docile dinosaur-like beasts, to a barren, rocky summit with bones and dirt. The farther I moved along the map, the more aggressive the baddies became. Enemies were mainly creatures resembling raptors and other dinosaurs. Mini-boss creatures also appeared to have been modeled after dinosaurs, but these were larger and much harder to take down.

To learn about the kinds of encounters you'll find yourself in while playing MH4, check out our full Monster Hunter 4 preview from Tokyo Game Show 2012.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star

Paper Mario: Sticker Star brings something entirely new to the Paper Mario milieu: Stickers! The great Leah "Pax After Dark" Jackson got to play the game at PAX and really wants to tell you all about those stickers.

Here's a taste of her Paper Mario: Sticker Star preview.

"Stickers introduce a mechanic that hasn't been used in a role-playing game before. Each sticker represents something that Paper Mario can use in combat, and once you use a sticker it's gone forever. Most stickers generate attacks, but some stickers, like mushroom stickers, heal. Don't worry about running out of stickers though, since they respawn in stages once you go back to them."

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Capcom is bringing back Phoenix Wright for Ace Attorney 5 on Nintendo's 3DS handheld, the latest issue of Famitsu confirms (via Andriasang). Wright will be joined in the new game by his new partner, "a mysterious girl who wears yellow." The story picks up one year after the events of Ace Attorney 4, with an explosion rocking the courthouse in the first chapter.

It's not clear what Capcom's release plan is for Ace Attorney 5 -- I'd put the smart money on an eventual U.S. release -- but we'll be learning more soon. Tokyo Game Show attendees can look forward to a 15-minute playable demo on the show floor as well as a proper introduction for Wright's new partner. We'll hopefully hear some more about Capcom is looking to put this game out as well.

What we do know is that longtime series writer/director Shu Takumi isn't heavily involved with this one, as he's busy working on Professor Layton Vs. Ace Attorney, which is due for a 2012 release in Japan.
