Scribblenauts for the Nintendo DS

5th Cell's series of wordy puzzle games may be due for another release soon, as a domain registration belonging to Warner Bros. points to something called Scribblenauts Remix. The news comes from the Twitter feed of superannuation, who proves again that he possesses detective skills that rival Batman's.

With two Nintendo DS Scribblenauts games in the bank, I think it's likely that this tite will land on a different platform, or more than one, between the 3DS, Vita and mobile operating systems. I suppose a console release is possible too, but all of the portable platforms seem more suited to this type of game. The title's "Remix" certainly suggests a move somewhere.

What do you think? Are we getting another Scribblenauts game or is this actually just the start of 5th Cell's secret campaign to redefine every word in the english dictionary?

Haunted Majora's Mask

“Operation Moonfall” is the name of a grassroots campaign to encourage Nintendo to release The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask on the Nintendo 3DS. The online petition was only in existence for five days before it reached 10,000 signatures

I know what you're thinking, because at first I thought it too: "Great another online petition bound to go nowhere..." Nay I say to you non-believers, the petition was started because of an interview with Eiji Aonuma in Nintendo Power.

“One of the things which made [The Ocarina of Time] remake possible was that there was an outpouring of emotions from people who said they would like to see this game done… I think certainly if there was a similar… clamor from fans for a remake of Majora’s Mask, it wouldn’t be an utter impossibility.”

Wii U: Nintendo's New Console;

It's pretty universally acknowledged by gamers that Nintendo's going to need to put in a stronger showing in the online play department with its next-gen platforms. The online features of the Wii and DS just haven't been able to compete with Xbox Live or PlayStation Network. Paid DLC won't change that on its own, but it's definitely a good start.

The Road to E3 2011: Nintendo Report Card

This is a dark time for Nintendo. The popular and industry reception to the announcement of the Wii U at E3 this year was not, shall we say, entirely positive. The sales of Nintendo's new handheld were not, shall we say, stellar, necessitating a price drop the Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo's stock is at a, shall we say, five-year low. All of this adds up to a loss in profits. Nintendo predicts 82 percent lower profits this fiscal year. This is, shall we say, terrible.

The company is far from broke. In spite of all the bad news, they still predict $257M in profits this year, but that's a lot less than the  $1.41B it previously expected.

Let's Golf 3D Gets An eShop Release, Brawl Brothers And Burn The Rope Come To Wii

It's Thursday, and you know what that means. Nintendo downloads time! There's just one new marquee title added to the 3DS eShop this week, Gameloft's Let's Golf 3D, which sells for $6.99. There are also a handful of new DSiWare titles that you can download as well: GO Series: Portable Shrine Wars ($1.99), Oscar's World Tour ($4.99) and My Australian Farm ($1.99).

Over in Wii-land, both WiiWare and Virtual Console each get a new addition. On the VC side, it's the appropriately titled 1993 SNES brawler from Jaleco, Brawl Brothers. Over on the WiiWare side, you can grab mobile puzzler hit Burn the Rope for 1,000 Wii Points.

Super Mario 3DS Screenshots have arrived. They're 2D, but they manage to look good anyway.

Here's a quick PSA to go along with today's news of an imminent price drop for the Nintendo 3DS. In the same press release, Nintendo revealed its release plans for a couple of highly anticipated titles for the handheld platform.

Super Mario Land 3D will be coming sometime in November, followed in December by Mario Kart 7. Star Fox 64 3D is still set for a September 9 launch and Kid Icarus: Uprising continues to be pegged for a holiday release. So there you go.

E3 2010: Nintendo 3DS Images

Since it launched in North America on March 27, the Nintendo 3DS has sold upwards of 830,000 units here. It's not a small number, but no one's going to argue that the release has been a blockbuster success. Blame the lack of quality launch titles and the high $250 price tag, two issues Nintendo intends to correct before the holiday season descend.

The company announced in a press release that, starting August 12, the price of a 3DS will be reduced down to $170. That's a whopping $80 off the original price, and less than six months after the hardware officially launched. With Sony's PlayStation Vita probably arriving this fall carrying its own $250 price, most will agree that the Nintendo price cut was necessary in order to keep the less powerful 3DS competitive.

Need for Speed The Run

Say what you want about the decision to add out-of-car moments to the Need for Speed franchise; at least the developers of Need for Speed: The Run are adding something different to the racing series. The great Adam Rosenberg (who never, ever leaves his car in real life) had the chance to try out the game recently, and brought back a preview. Here's a excerpt:

"On the play side, racing fans can expect new and old challenges, including sprint races, time attacks, rival battles, cop pursuits, survival scenarios (like speeding away from an incoming avalanche) and big action moments, like the helicopter-on-car chase shown at E3. The underlying story also creates some unpredictability here, the potential for in-race events to occur that completely alter the flow of your play."

  • Crush 3D will be released on February 21, 2012.
  • Shinobi  will be released on November 15, 2011.

Both of these titles were originally planned for September releases, meaning that this is the notification of a delay.

"I don't know much about those games!" you may be saying to yourself. Well, I have you covered. We previewed Crush3D, and we also took a look at Shinobi. We're cool like that.

The question, though: How many of you have a Nintendo 3DS, and what do you think of the games that have come out so far on the device?
