Pokemon X Nobunaga's Ambition: Is This The Next Evolution Of Pokemon Games?

Pokemon is known for strictly following a formula. Every iteration of the series from Pokemon Red to Pokemon Black has followed this pattern. When rumors began to circulate indicating another Pokemon game was on the horizon, we all thought Pokemon Grey was the obvious next Pokemon game. We were all wrong. Reports from Jump Festa, a Japanese gaming conventions, reveal the next Pokemon game is called Pokemon X Nobunaga's Ambition.

3DS Ambassador Program Concludes Friday With 10 GBA Games

Nintendo recently reassured fans that the final 10 Ambassador Program games are still coming before the end of this year. Early 3DS adopters miffed over the significant price drop that came only a few months after the handheld's March release got their 10 free NES games in September, and now an e-mail sent to Ambassadors in Japan confirms that the final 10 -- GBA games, the lot of them -- are coming this Friday, December 16 (via TechCrunch).

The e-mail also confirmed what those final 10 games are, though we already knew five of the titles: Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania and Mario Vs. Donkey Kong. The remaining five are: F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Wario Land 4 and Fire Emblem.

Note that Nintendo's U.S. website still hasn't been updated with this release timing or games list. We've checked in for confirmation, so stay tuned.

Kid Icarus Uprising Developers Testing Online Multiplayer

With the end of 2011 now clearly in sight, Nintendo is looking to get gamers set for its early 2012 releases. A morning press release runs through a variety of Wii 3DS, DS and eShop release dates and windows for both first- and third-party games, including hotly anticipated titles like Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Pit will reclaim his bow and arrow in Uprising on March 23, 2012, bringing yet another classic Nintendo character to the 3DS platform. Also confirmed is a February 7 release date and $19.99 price tag for the Circle Pad, the 3DS attachment that adds a second analog nub and additional shoulder buttons. It's confirmed to be compatible with both Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater (Q1 release) and Resident Evil: Revelations (2/7 release).

On the Wii side, Nintendo notably confirmed release dates for Rhythm Heaven Fever and Mario Party 9, for 2/13 and 3/11, respectively. Those are the highlights; you can see the full list over on Nintendo's website. Bear in mind that dates and titles both are subject to change.

LEGO Batman 2 - Super Heroes Confirmed By LEGO Toy Sets

We first heard rumors of a second LEGO Batman game at the end of last month from an apparently leaked promo image that suggested the next game would be casting a wider net into the DC Comics superhero and supervillain pool. While there still hasn't been a formal announcement about the follow-up from TT Games, you can go ahead and consider today's news a confirmation.

Ads for a video game called LEGO Batman 2 - Super Heroes are printed inside the instruction manuals for LEGO's Super Hero line of playsets, MCV reports. The ads feature images of various DC characters, including Superman and Wonder Woman. They also reveal that the game is coming to Xbox 360, Wii, 3DS and unspecified Sony platforms, presumably both the PlayStation 3 and Vita.

There's no release date or any other information listed, and these LEGO Super Hero sets TECHNICALLY aren't out until next year (some retailers apparently have them already), but I think we can now safely stop thinking of LEGO Batman 2's wider DC Comics focus as a rumor.

Modern Warfare 3 Cover Art Revealed?

Unsurprisingly, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim topped the video game sales charts in November, according to the NPD analysis group. MW3, from Publisher Activision Blizzard, sold $775 million in its first five days on the market so it's not too surprising that they came in at the number one spot. Battlefield 3, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, and Just Dance 3 rounded out the top five.

According to the NPD Analysis group, “This November marks the best November on record for sales of new physical content.  November 2008 was previously the best November on record.” They went on to mention that, “In one month, Elder Scrolls 5:  Skyrim is just about half a million units shy of matching Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion in lifetime sales.  Its first month performance was a five-fold increase over Oblivion’s first month sales," and they attributed the high sales to "outstanding review scores" like the our own Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim review.

Nintendo head Shigeru Miyamoto said in an interview with Wired that he is interested in retiring from his current position and stepping into another role at Nintendo. Nintendo, on the other hand, says everything for old Shiggy will be staying pretty much the same. So who should you believe? As always, you should believe Adam Sessler.

In this special, collectors edition of Sessler's Soapbox, Adam discusses this whole "retirement" thing and the culture of Nintendo. Click it, won't you?

In statements made to G4tv.com, Wired magazine has defended its reporting of the “stepping down” of Nintendo visionary Shigeru Miyamoto, as presented in a recent interview.

The interview sent tremors through the gaming world and financial markets when Miyamoto said that he was retiring from his current position as head of Nintendo’s game design department and changing his role within the company in order to focus on creating smaller games than his most recent titles. Nintendo responded to the interview with a statement that seems to contradict Miyamoto’s words, saying, “Video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto's role at Nintendo is not changing.”

We spoke to Wired editor Chris Kohler who confirmed that Miyamoto’s statements were reported accurately. “Miyamoto’s comments as presented in our story are exactly what Miyamoto said, and presented with the full context of his remarks,” Kohler said. “We are absolutely standing by those statements as reported.”

We have the first 15 minutes of The Adventures of Tintin: The Game! The game begins with a plane (that looks like the Sea Duck from TaleSpin) flying through a stormy sky. It then follows the movie, which was based off of a French comic strip. That's not the important part though. The real story here is Snowy. How cute is that dog?

The First 15 - The Adventures of Tintin: The Game »

The Adventures of Tintin: The Game is out now for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, 3DS, and Wii.

Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo promised a features-adding 3DS firmware update before the end of the year, and a features-adding 3DS firmware update is exactly what we now have. The system update is available for download now, bringing 3D video recording (10 minutes worth), new StreetPass puzzles and a new dungeon for the StreetPass RPG-lite.

The big surprise is the addition of 3DS Accomplishments, which appear to be the Nintendo take on Achievements/Trophies. Right now these appear to be restricted to Mii Plaza milestones, such as meeting Miis from 10 different countries, but it seems like a safe bet that we'll see them popping up in games before long, possibly even Wii U games further down the road.

Other new features include DLC support, 3DS demo downloads, Sleep mode automated downloads and a tool for transferring content from one 3DS to another. You'll find the System Update option tucked away in one of the handheld's System Settings sub-menus.

Nintendo made an appearance at the Los Angeles Auto Show recently and they brought some awesome life size Mario karts with them. The karts, based off of the series Mario Kart, were created by West Coast Customs. There were two custom, life size karts, one for Mario and one for his brother, Luigi. Both karts are giant representations of the actual karts from the upcoming 3DS game Mario Kart 7.

Nintendo Plans To Remake More Classics For 3DS -- Miyamoto Wants A Link to the Past

It's been a long, Skyrim-filled holiday season for many of us, but try to think back to a time before the dragons, to when Nintendo released its 3DS handheld earlier this year and then, less than six months later, slashed its price by $80. To quell the dissatisfied community members who spent full price on the device at launch, the company launched its Ambassador Program, promising 20 free Virtual Console games to all early adopters.

We've already seen half of the offer made good on, with the early fall 3DS eShop release of 10 classic NES titles. The final 10 are Game Boy Advance games, and they're supposed to be coming before the end of the year. Nintendo wants you to know that that's still very much the plan.
