Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance Japanese Release Date Announced

Square Enix has announced the Japanese release date for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Sora and friends will be back on March 29 along with a special limited edition Nintendo 3DS. The price for the 3DS bundle hasn't been announced yet, but what's really neat is that it comes with a Dream Eater AR card that can be used to unlock a rare Dream Eater in the game.

Square also announced a Kingdom Hearts 10th Anniversary Box (wow has it really been 10 years?!) but they didn't discuss the details of what will be inside the collector's box.

With a late March release date for Kingdom Hearts 3D in Japan hopefully we'll see the game at least by the Fall in the US. I want to play it!

Resident Evil Revelations

3DS owners in North America were promised downloadable game demos, and that's exactly what we're going to be getting, starting tomorrow. Nintendo confirms in a morning press release that a downloadable demo for Resident Evil: Revelations will be hitting the 3DS eShop this week, with more coming on a more regular basis.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games will get a demo next week, on January 26. Also set for release further down the road are playable tastes of Ubisoft's Rayman Origins and Konami's Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. Only Revelations and Mario & Sonic have set dates so far, but you can expect to hear more soon.

Fatal Frame Spinoff Comes To Nintendo 3DS On April's Friday The 13th

The Fatal Frame series gets a lot of love from fans for offering a decidedly different take on the interactive horror genre. Narrative is a key component in all of the games as players use the Camera Obscura to find and capture a variety of spirits. A Nintendo 3DS version of the game was revealed last year, a Japan-only spinoff with a title that translates roughly to Spirit Camera: The Cursed Notebook.

Nintendo now confirms that the spinoff is headed to North America as well, bearing the title Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir and heading our way in April. The story follows a young girl named Maya as she tries to rid herself of a curse. The game will use the 3DS character to render Maya in real-world environments on the 3DS screen. The press release confirms that the game will also include a 16-page AR Book, the so-called "diary of faces" that, from the sound of things, offers additional story development and minigames.

You can pick up Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir for your 3DS starting on Friday, April 13.

Surprise! Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the best-selling game of 2011 according to the NPD Analysis. What is interesting however is the fact that Just Dance 3 claimed the number two spot, followed by a bunch of pretty hardcore titles. Sometimes people just need to dance. I get it.

Zen Pinball 3D Review Verdict: The Portable Pinball Experience

Our two resident pinball wizards, Donell Tucker and Ernie Moreno, took a look at the new Zen Pinball 3D for the Nintendo 3DS. These are their thoughts on the game!

Zen Studios pushes their successful pinball game to the Nintendo 3DS, bringing pinball fanatics a stereoscopic 3D experience with Zen Pinball 3D. While the handheld version produces realistic pinball physics and enchanting audio to enrich your play through over and over again, it doesn't quite deliver the full pinball exeperience that the console versions do.

What Zen Pinball 3D includes are four original crafted tables, which are Earth Defense, Shaman, Excalibur, and Eldorado. In addition, Zen Studio will support additional downloadable content in the future, but for now, you only get four tables. Just like the original Zen Pinball game, your objective is to gain a high score by keeping the silver ball in play using the side flippers which are the right and left bumpers on the Nintendo 3DS. Also, you have the option to shake the table a bit with the analog stick to slightly move the ball from left or right. Beside your main goal on getting the high score, you have specific missions to complete within each table in order to achieve big points, which offers players a more complex and challenging game.

Capcom will release Resident Evil: Revelations in North America on February 7, just under a month from now. The long wait is almost over. It also just got two minutes shorter, thanks to the newly posted intro cinematic for Revelations on the Minna no Nintendo channel (via Andriasang). Just think: two full minutes you can simply skip past once you have the game in your hot, little hands.

Be aware that all dialogue in the above video is in Japanese. Which means you might not want to skip the intro movie when you finally sit down to play Revelations next month. But go ahead and gawk at the moody cutscene to get yourself a little more psyched up about February 7.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D Release Date Announced

Konami have announced the release date for Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. The reworked update of the PlayStation 2 game will be out for the Nintendo 3DS on February 21, 2012. Konami has also confirmed that the game will make use of the new Circle Pad Pro accessory.

If you're not familiar with MGS: SE, let me catch you up. The game takes place in the Cold War and you'll be playing as the hero Snake as he infiltrates his way through the Soviet jungle to bring back a scientist who's being held against his will.

What's great about the 3D remake of the game is how much more immersed you'll feel while sneaking through the jungle. According to Konami the 3D elements in the game truly make key boss battles and exploration "all the more incredible."

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes Is Coming This Summer

We all knew that this would be official before long. Too much seemingly hard evidence has surfaced pointing to a second LEGO Batman game for it not to be a Thing. And Warner Interactive has now confirmed it. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is coming to a gaming platform near you this summer, a press release reveals. That means: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Windows PC, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita. No WonderSwan though. Sorry all.

The DC Super Heroes subtitle means that you're seeing more than just familiar faces from TT Games' previous Batman release. Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Lex Luthor are all confirmed. Who else would you like to see? I'm casting my vote now for the Wonder Twins.

Batman: Arkham City

All the awards shows and fan polls in the world can tell you one thing, but video game rental service GameFly offers what is perhaps one of the best barometers for what actual people were actually playing over the course of a given year. Today the company releases its top 10 GameQ lists for 2011, with the rankings based on how frequently each title appeared in users' "I want to rent this next" lineup.

The top-requested game across all platforms is WB Games' Batman: Arkham City, followed by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Dead Island in the two and three spots, respectively. Skyrim, G4's own Game of the Year, is ranked seventh, likely because anyone who wanted it recognized the timesink involved and just bought the thing. Arkham is also the top game on the Xbox 360 list, but it's number two on the PlayStation 3 list, behind Uncharted 3 (of course).

Hit the jump for the full platform-by-platform breakdown, also including GameQ rankings for the Wii, 3DS and DS platforms.

Metal Gear Solid 3DS Bundle Wraps Your Handheld In Snakeskin

It was first mentioned earlier this week, but now Hideo Kojima has a first look for you of Kojima Productions' custom Nintendo 3DS, to be included in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D hardware bundle. The series creator shared the image yesterday on his official Twitter feed (via Andriasang) and, as you can see, the outer shell is wrapped in (presumably fake) snakeskin.

Bear in mind, there's a strong possibility that we'll never see this funky-looking 3DS make its way to the United States. For now, it's a Japan-only sort of thing. Meaning, if for some reason you dream of feeling scales between your fingers whenever you grip your portable gaming device, then you're going to want to import this sucker.

Nintendo Direct Stream Reveals New Release Dates, Game Details

Last night (in North America time), Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata got up in front of a camera to host the latest Nintendo Direct. The stream video conference format, last used to announce the recently released 3DS firmware update, was used again as an announcement platform for some big(-ish) Nintendo happenings, namely some key 3DS release dates and game details. Note that all announced dates should at this point be considered "Japan-only."

First, dates. The 3DS Fire Emblem game, bearing the subtitle Kakusei (translated: "Awakening"), will be coming on April 19, Andriasang reports. Kid Icarus: Uprising will be arriving a few weeks before that, on March 22. Iwata also confirmed that the Icarus game will support three-on-three multiplayer, and is compatible with both ad-hoc (local wireless) and Internet play.

Also coming up in the first half of 2012 are: Mario & Sonic London Olympics (March 1), Level-5's "Girls RPG" (March 8) and Dynasty Warriors VS (March 15). Iwata also confirmed that the DW game will include Nintendo-themed character costumes.

Myst 3D Coming To 3DS In Late March

Myst! It may not be the ORIGINAL PC adventure game (or anything even close to that), but it IS a wildly popular one from a time when CD-ROMs were still considered a new teechnology (CD-ROM being the computer disc-thing that existed before DVD). The game has been ported to numerous platforms since its 1993 release, and now Hoplite Research, the developer behind the previous Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable ports, is hard at work on a 3DS version of the game.

A press release confirms that Maximum Family Games will publish Myst 3D, with the release set for March 27, 2012. While it's the original PC release that is being ported, Hoplite is also including the RIME Age as a bonus, a locaton that was added in year 2000 release, realMyst, which built a 3D world around the original game's static image environments.

Teken 3D Prime Edition Release Date Announced -- Get Ready To Fight On Valentine's Day

Namco Bandai have announced the release date for Tekken 3D Prime Edition, get ready to fight on February 14, 2012. This Nintendo 3DS exclusive will take the famous King of Iron First Tournament to the next level, offering more than 40 characters, 60 fps graphics, dynamic battles, and StreetPass functionality.

“With the unique abilities of the Nintendo 3DS, we’re able to show the characters of the epic franchise in a way that has never been seen before, and fans are going to love how Tekken's return to Nintendo systems has taken the series to new levels," said Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing, for Namco Bandai Games America

Are you going to be playing Tekken 3D Prime Edition on Valentine's Day?

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance has a release date, in Japan anyway. Japanese gamers will be reunited with Sora, Mickey and the gang in March 2012. An American release date has not been announced. The 3DS is region locked so I don't recommend importing the game. Square Enix has released an eight minute long trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance as well. There's a catch though; the trailer is in Japanese.

Both the release date and trailer were revealed during Jump Festa, a Japanese gaming convention. Some details about the game were confirmed like a Tron Legacy level and a level based on "Mickey, Donald and Goofy: The Three Musketeers."

Sidenote: Did anyone else cry when they showed Kairi? No? Me neither. (I totally did.)
