PlayStation Move

Datura

We've got a preview of Datura for you, and I'm not going to bother trying to tell you about the game--it's just too strange. Strange but awesome.

Here's a taste of the odd delights that await you, should you play this game with your PlayStation Move:

"Continuing on, I find a face carved into a tree in the forest. I reach up with the Move to put my disembodied hand along the side of the face, grab, and pull. The face rips out from the tree to reveal a pickaxe, and when I grab it am transported to another Room. This time I'm on my hands and knees staring down at the frozen surface of a lake covered in snow. I gently shake the Move to brush away some of the snow and see a golden chalice under the thick ice. I brush away another patch and a human hand flattens itself against the other side of the ice. I quickly choose to chip away and free the person. The ice breaks, I plunge into the water, fade to black and return to the forest. This time, I made the right choice."

Check out the rest of our Datura preview.

Bioshock Infinite Mechanical Patriot Revealed: Meet Your Red, White And Blue Nightmare

Irrational Games' Ken Levine revealed a few more details on BioShock Infinite's PlayStation Move support on the PlayStation 3. He didn't say all that much, but I'm crazy for everything BioShock Infinite, so I'll take what I can get.

"Talking about Move support is like talking about music...You've got to put the thing in somebody's hand and say, 'here's our Move support. How does it feel to you?'" Levine said to Eurogamer.

"We're definitely going to be doing that at some point. But it's hard to talk about because it's like, 'hey, does it feel good? Does it feel right? Does it break down barriers of interface for you?"

Sony CEO Kaz Hirai Says Core Gamers Should Be Served Before The Mainstream

According to a report from Nikkei, Kazuo Hirai is about to be named the President of Sony. Howard Stinger would continue to act as CEO and Chairman. Rumor has it Hirai will take over as soon as this April. Hirai is currently the Executive Deputy President.

I assume Kaz (we're on a first syllable basis) is so psyched about his promotion he's going to gift everyone a copy of Ridge Racer. That joke is still funny, right?

Playstation Move vs Microsoft Kinect: The Future of Motion Control

The concept of motion control has been embedded in every gamer’s mind since the first person jerked an NES controller in a desperate bid to keep Mario out of a pit. From there, various companies tried (and failed) to create a viable motion controlled game/system. It wasn’t until Nintendo released the Wii in 2006 that the industry finally realized there was a juicy new opportunity still ripening on the vine.

Only years old, the Wii’s influence has reshaped the face of the industry. What some see as a bubble—a fad at best—still resonates through the daily workings of video games. New motion controlled games promising to push the limits of the medium are announced with regularity. But just how far can it stretch? Will people continue to patronize games that make them get off their couch and dance around or will these games remain party favors?
