Morning Hangover #71 -- Andrew Looks For Feedback, Patrick Has TV Envy

We have been itching to talk about the horrifically wonderful Alan Wake in detail on Feedback. Thankfully, that's going to happen son (but not this week!). There will be plenty more to talk about, but one of the best parts about Feedback doesn't happen until the end, where we pluck a question or two from you guys.

What do you want to see the Feedback crew talk about this week?

We can't seem to stop talking about Activision lately. Thanks for making so much news lately, guys! The latest move from Activision, however, is the opposite of the Infinity Ward situation; the publisher signed a 10-year publishing deal with Halo developer Bungie. It's another five-man crew this week on Feedback, as Adam Sessler, Andrew Pfister, J.P. Shub, Abbie Heppe and myself head into the studio to discuss this massive partnership, the Halo: Reach beta and much, much more.

Feedback -- Halo: Reach Beta And Activision + Bungie Lovefest Edition »

Oh, video games! Here's what you can expect this week on Feedback...

  • Extensive discussion of Activision and Bungie's teaming, what that means for Halo, speculation about what their next "universe" might be about and its impact on -- wait for it -- Infinity Ward.
  • Activision drops the first trailer for the Treyarch-developed Call of Duty: Black Ops and we're all surprised at how much we're interested in seeing where Treyarch is going with this new one.
  • We all openly wonder who's going to go out and purchase a black Wii.
  • Adam takes some unnecessary, painfully mean jabs at Lost. Plus, we have a character from Lost make a guest appearance. Can you spot him? No, I'm not kidding.
  • J.P. Shub leads the discussion on the ongoing Halo: Reach beta and how Bungie might actually be converting some people who aren't usually into Halo multiplayer (*cough* Abbie).
  • A reader asks if we've considered, god forbid, when we might stop playing video games.

Feedback, where everyone who speaks into the mic becomes temporarily immortal.

Activision & Bungie! Halo: Reach beta! New black Wii! 3D Gaming...again! You have thoughts on your mind, I know it. Well, most of you do. Share them with us, and you just might find yourself featured on this Wednesday's episode of our award-winning* web show Feedback. Clean thoughts only, please. We have enough of the other kind.

I remember an episode of Feedback a while back that had something to do with Call of Duty and how the guys who made it wanted a lot of money, but the publisher wouldn't give it to them, so everyone left and nobody made Call of Duty anymore. Do you remember that episode, Zach? It was one of my favorites. But then they started talking about the Supreme Court for some reason, and I thought that was weird. You'd think it was weird, too, Zach.

Oh, and they also talked about Deadly Premonition. My coffee told me that they liked it.

Morning Hangover #71 -- Andrew Looks For Feedback, Patrick Has TV Envy

I'm having a bit of a Deadly Premonition about this week's episode of Feedback. Am I right, Zach? You'll have to tune in to this Wednesday's Feedback to know what I'm talking about, but before we head into the studio tomorrow afternoon to record, we're going to need a little help from you. What do you want to hear the Feedback crew talk about? Warning: if you ask a question about games being art or the importance of 3D on the future of gaming, Adam Sessler will reach out and smack you.

This week's Feedback sees the triumphant return of Patrick Klepek, fresh from his visit to Capcom's "Captivate" event. Personally, I was worried that he'd be stuck somewhere pushing a button every 108 minutes, but I'm glad he's back...mostly because he's got the lowdown on Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Feedback: New Capcom Games & Viewer Question Time! »

"Yeah, that's fine and everything...but what else ya got?"
  • Marvel vs. Capcom 2 came out 10 years ago, well before the Disney-owned Marvel properties exploded in Hollywood. What else has changed about both Marvel and Capcom since then? What recent Capcom characters do we want to see in the game?
  • Should we be afraid that MvC 3 is going to be too dumbed down for the new folks? Does it even matter with Marvel vs. Capcom?
  • March NPD results are in, and woe is the PlayStation Portable. And how did the PS3 hardware shortages hurt Sony's top-selling games last month?
  • We had to talk about the Roger Ebert "art" thing, so we did.
  • Plus, we take a lot of your questions. Topics include Superman games, imagining using the Just Cause grappling hook in real life, the lack of really good gaming villains, Patrick & Sterling's hair, and much, much more.

You have questions. We very possibly could have answers. This is the premise for this week's episode of Feedback. Instead of a proper "Game of the Week" segment, we're going to be answering your questions for the middle part of the show. Dedicated C-SPAN2 viewers might liken this to Question Time with the Prime Minister from Britain's Parliament, so please be sure to submit your questions with a snooty English accent.

And to get it out of the way...no, we don't know when Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming out. Everything else is fair game!

Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski revealed Gears of War 3 the other night on the Jimmy Fallon Late Night Program, and it's got the Internet all in a flutter. Okay, maybe "revealed" is too strong a word for yet another emotionally-charged teaser trailer (great choice of music, though), but plenty of details emerged that are worth dissecting. Also this week, we tackle the long-awaited Splinter Cell: Conviction, and debate whether or not it's still Splinter Cell.

Further topics of conversation include the latest in the Activision/Infinity Ward/EA love triangle, Zampella & West's new studio Respawn Entertainment, the announcement of People Can Fly's Bulletstorm, and much, much more.

Morning Hangover #71 -- Andrew Looks For Feedback, Patrick Has TV Envy

Some interesting developments yesterday and last night, wouldn't you say? Former Infinity Ward leaders Vince Zampella and Jason West are setting up their new shop with Electronic Arts, the company that just recently announced that they'll be publishing Bulletstorm from People Can Fly, the majority of which is owned by Epic Games...whose Internet, and now television-famous designer Cliff Bleszinski just revealed the first Gears of War 3 trailer on Jimmy Fallon's late night show.

Everything's related, and we want your questions for this week's episode of Feedback. Drop 'em in the comments below.

You don't have to deal with my awkward pauses anymore, as Adam Sessler has returned to Feedback, albeit with some disappointing news: he didn't find the intrepid Yeti during his fever dream. Abbie Heppe, Adam, Jake Gaskill and myself tried to soothe our crushed hopes and dreams with discussion about Apple's new iPad and the launch games available for the device and much, much more.

Feedback -- Just Cause 2 And iPad Gaming Edition »

In this week's episode of Feedback...

  • Apple launched their much talked about tablet-sized version of the iPhone, the iPad. Is it worth the money? Does Geometry Wars work? For help, I brought my iPad into the studio.
  • Rockstar Games is positioning Red Dead Redemption as their new Grand Theft Auto. The whole Feedback crew is behind the game, but not convinced about westerns being huge hits.
  • Hot on the heels of Gears of War 3 rumors, the Gears of War movie is reportedly being scaled back from the mammoth, multi-movie sci-fi epic pitched at Comic-Con last year.
  • The ups and downs of open world games gets debated as we discuss our game of the week, Just Cause 2. I managed to sneak in some props about the game's amazing Lost reference.
  • A user asks everyone to discuss what makes indie games tick.

Feedback, attempting to incorporate inappropriate bonerjam jokes into every episode.

I'm going to be walking into the studio with an iPad, prepared to bonk Adam Sessler over the head with it (if hasn't broken down and purchased one himself before we record, anyway). Besides that, we need something to talk about during this week's episode and you are going to come up with the topic.

You might notice there's someone different sitting in the hosting chair this week on Feedback. Adam Sessler's wandering the world in a fever dream (he mentioned something about a Yeti), so I was asked to step in and take control of Feedback. I apologize in advance, but I managed to convince Andrew Pfister, Matt Keil and Abbie Heppe to join me in the Feedback studio, too. They made my job easier.

Feedback -- We're Back From PAX East Edition, Plus Halo: Reach Talk »

On this week's episode of Feedback...

  • All four of us attended PAX East in Boston over the weekend and even though it was an exhausting, cross-country experience, we had a fantastic time meeting with G4's great fans.
  • In addition to exploring bars near PAX East, we had a chance to look at and play a bunch of games at the event, too. Matt and Abbie go in-depth on the promising online shooter Breach.
  • Sony announced it decided to pass on the Project Natal technology for PlayStation Move and Bungie revealed their ambitious Player Investment system for the upcoming Halo: Reach.
  • Abbie's family shows up. Seriously.
  • A reader asks us to ponder what tends to drive Adam absolutely insane: 3D gaming.

Feedback, a podcast that gets way too excited about the prospect of going to the Cheers bar.

Some of us have already dragged ourselves back into the G4 offices, others are just hopping off a plane, but in either case, it's official: PAX East is over. The first annual PAX on the east coast has come to an end and the general consensus was that it kicked some serious ass, mostly because of you guys! Just because we're tired doesn't mean we're not shooting a new episode of Feedback. We'll be talking PAX East and other topics, but also want your input. What should we chat about?

We desperately wanted to talk about God of War III on last week's episode of Feedback, but the Game Developers Conference prevented some us from, uh, progressing very far past the title screen. Adam Sessler, Abbie Heppe, Matt Keil and I all managed to finish God of War III before heading into the studio to record this week's episode of Feedback, however, which means it quickly turned into an all-out spoilercast, discussing the game's ups and downs from the inside out.

As such, this week's Feedback comes with a word of caution: in-depth God of War III spoilers abound! If you haven't finished God of War III, be very mindful when we start that discussion up.

Feedback -- God of War III And Nintendo 3DS Edition »

Elsewhere in this week's Feedback...

  • Nintendo surprised all of us by announcing the Nintendo 3DS, a 3D-enabled version of their dual-screened handheld that apparently won't require glasses. Speculation drive, engage!
  • We spend a whole heck of a lot of time talking about Sony Santa Monica's God of War III and whether Kratos and players found what they were looking for by the time the credits rolled.
  • Our reader question of the week also probes into God of War III, asking us to consider what it's like when characters take unexpected turns, sometimes against the desire of the player.

Morning Hangover #71 -- Andrew Looks For Feedback, Patrick Has TV Envy

We're headed into the studio this afternoon to record the latest episode of Feedback, but before that happens, we need a little help from you guys. The surprise announcement of the Nintendo 3Ds still has us spinning -- expect plenty of discussion on that front -- but we're looking for some insightful reader questions to spur some debate towards the end. What've you got?
