Morning Hangover: What Does Sony Need To Do To Earn Back Your Trust?

The PlayStation Network has been down for over a week and your credit card information and personal information may be in the hands of hackers. Sony has said that they're investigating the issue and trying to make everything okay again, but is that enough? When Microsoft was hit in 2007 with Xbox Live issues they ended up giving everyone the downloadable title Undertow for free. How far is Sony going to have to go to earn back your trust?

Morning Hangover: The Legend of Zelda Wins Videogame Deathmatch: Best Franchise Edition!

Well, it's all over and after a close vote The Legend of Zelda has won our Videogame Deathmatch: Best Franchise Edition. Congrats, Zelda fans! Zelda beat out Halo, Mario, Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed, and of course, my favorite videogame franchise, StarCraft, to become the true victor of the competition. I'm not mad that Zelda won, in fact, I had a tough time voting in the Grand Finals myself (it's not like Zelda could have been made in StarCraft's map editor or anything...zing!) That's Artosis' joke, but it's true.

Anyway, instead of telling me why the other franchises suck, tell me about your favorite Legend of Zelda memory. Mine was when I first got Epona while playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I was very young and couldn't hold a N64 controller because it was too big for my hands so it was the most difficult thing ever to beat Ingo in that second race. But once I did I was so ecstatic for weeks. What about you? Let's hear 'em!

The Morning Hangover: What A Fun Weekend It Was!

This weekend was filled with chocolate eggs (they were delicious) and a bunch of gaming due to the release of a few choice titles last week like Mortal Kombat and Portal 2. I was able to finally finish Portal 2 and man did I love it. The multiplayer is great too. I played it a few times with different friends and each time was a new and endearing experience. My favorite thing to do in the Portal 2 multiplayer is to smack my friends into walls with the aerial faith plates, it's so funny! So I spent most of my weekend doing that, how about you? What games did you play this weekend? Did you introduce any visiting family to new games?

Morning Hangover: Eggs Eggs Eggs! This weekend a lot of people will be celebrating and painting and eating some eggs. So for today, Nikole and I have come up with a list of some famous eggs in video games. It was pretty tough to think of all the little guys, and maybe you know of a few others. Here's what we got:

  • Pokemon eggs
  • Yoshi Egg
  • Dr. Eggman
  • Mr. Egg
  • Eggmania Eggs

So we've got the classic Pokemon eggs from Pokemon, Yoshi eggs from Mario, and Dr. Eggman from Sonic. But then there's Mr. Egg, the villain from the 1982 classic arcade game BurgerTime and then the ultimate multiplatform egg hit, Eggmania. Eggmania features over eight types of eggs like a DJ egg named Funky and a mechanical egg named Robo. Now that's eggciting. Do you have any egg plans this weekend?

Porting Torchlight: The Secrets Behind The XBLA Version Of Runic's RPG Hit

Yesterday we featured an article on the process of how Torchlight was successfully ported from the PC to the Xbox 360 by World Domination Industries. Torchlight is a Diablo-esque dungeon crawler and plays great on both PC and the Xbox, and it's quite interesting to see the changes that the team had to go through to make the game work so well on Xbox. This has me wondering, what are some other PC games that, with tweaking, could work well on consoles? Obviously Diablo 3 is toying with the idea, but what other games have you seen successfully ported to another console, and which system did you like the game better on: the original or the new version?

Morning Hangover: Favorite Gaming Grub?

It's time to sit down and talk about something very important: delicious food. We all need nutrients and oftentimes when certain physics bending addictive games come out (I love you, Wheatly) I forget to eat for hours and then want to fall over because I'm so hungry. Which leads me to the question of the day: what do you love to eat when you're gaming? I generally go for something extremely healthy like a hot pocket or the always delicious bag of doritos (nacho is the best flavor). Sometimes it's just easier to hit that fast food joint or call the pizza guy though, both good choices. But enough about my perfect eating habits, what's your favorite food to eat while gaming? Drink?

Morning Hangover: Which Game Are You Getting Today?

Today is a very special day for gamers. There's not one triple-A title coming out, not two, nor three, but in fact four huge games that are releasing on this very day, and between them there is something for just about everyone. We've got the puzzle platformer Portal 2, the gruesome fighting game Mortal Kombat, the third person multiplayer shooter SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs, and the alien invasion FPS thriller Conduit 2. I've been dying to play Portal 2 for months and I couldn't be more excited now that it's finally out. It will definitely be the one that I'm picking up. What about you?

Gabe Newell: Half-Life 2: Episode 3 E3 Teaser Image

This weekend was fun! Even though it was a beautiful 85 degrees and sunny in Los Angeles I stayed in and I built a brand new gaming PC (check for the feature revolving around it soon), watched a lot of StarCraft 2, played some Half-Life 2, and waited around impatiently for Portal 2. It was a great time, but I'm wondering what gaming related stuff you did this weekend. Did you pick up any new games? Play some great oldies like I did, or maybe even get a new console, a Nintendo 3DS perhaps? Let me know.

Wii Classic Controller Pro

A lot of rumors circulated the Internet yesterday regarding a potential announcement of Nintendo's new console (aka Project Cafe) which people are brilliantly calling The Wii 2. All of the information came from anonymous sources and whatnot, so I'm not sure the rumors are to be believed yet. But regardless of if it exists or not, there surely is a new Nintendo home console coming out soon-ish, so what do you what neat features would you want it to have aside from boring things like HD and better games? Even further, what do you want it to look like?

Beyond Good and Evil Creator Leaves Ubisoft, Sequel In Jeopardy?

Yesterday we found out that Starfox 64 3D is coming out in Japan on July 14, and that's cool. But Starfox 64 3D really is a just a remake of a remake, albeit an awesome one. And The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is obviously just a remake of the original on the N64. We continuously buy into remakes all the time though, more recently with Beyond Good & Evil HD. Are there any games out there from long ago that you'd love to see an HD remake of? My favorite game ever is Final Fantasy 9, so that would be my choice. What about yours?

New The Last Guardian Screenshots

We've read several reports that PC gamers might be getting Portal 2 a few days early. That's a pretty exciting rumor, but it makes me wonder if I could play any game that's in the pipes right now, which one would it be? There are all sorts that are just around the corner like The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, and Torchlight 2. But then there are those gems that are still quite a long way off like The Last Guardian and Diablo 3 that I would love to have in my hands right now. If you could have any completely finished game (that has already been announced) come out today, which one would it be?

Team Fortress 2 Scout Achievements

Goals are always a fun and challenging way to make gaming more fun. Lately most games implement goals for you through achievement point systems, but there are other more personal goals that some people like to set for themselves to add an extra layer to the experience. For example, when I play a massive role playing game like Final Fantasy 13, I make it my goal to get every single ultimate weapon in the game before I finally put it away. Yeah, it takes about 100 hours but when I achieve that goal it I feels extra special. What are some gaming goals that you set for yourself?

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

This weekend I spent a lot of time playing The Witcher. I know it's an old game, but with the The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings fast approaching on May 17 I've been trying to get through it. The real-time action and story is fantastic, and I can't recommend it enough to anyone that loves PC roleplaying games, especially if you were a little disappointed with Dragon Age 2.

I also watched the Global StarCraft 2 League World Championships over the weekend. I won't spoil who won, but the matches were so ridiculously good. Check them out for free on GOMTV.net.

What about you? What did you get to play this weekend?

New Super Mario Bros. Wii, E3 2009

I'm planning to finish New Super Mario Bros Wii this weekend. Yeah, I know, I'm really behind the times, but it's a great game, and it's not like any ground-breaking games came out this week or anything.

What about you? What do you plan to play this weekend?
