Weekend Playlist

We're gearing up for the weekend here at TheFeed. While we usually spend the weekends kite-surfing with super-models clinging to our backs and/or performing Kabuki theater productions at local retirement homes, we'll probably manage to squeeze in a few hours of video games too.

Below, in no particular order, is what the editorial team plans to play this weekend.

Patrick Klepek: I've finished 44 missions so far in my current addiction: Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Rockstar Games' latest portable GTA has no business being so fantastic but it absolutely is. Chinatown Wars, like Skynet, is completely self-aware. The writers recognize people aren't looking for a heavy story here and consciously play right into that expectation. The characters you encounter are so cliché it hurts...but in a good way. If Grand Theft Auto IV is the equivalent of gaming high-art, Chinatown Wars is a roaring B-movie. Oh, and it's also a really entertaining game. If you aren't playing Chinatown Wars yet, you should be.

It's that time again boys and girls -- time for another glorious weekend! While the swine flu is sweeping that nation (whatever happened to the avian flu, SARS, and The Black Plague?), the crew at TheFeed is ready for some uninterrupted gaming action. Here's what the crew has planned for this weekend. As always, the gang wants to know what you're playing. Leave a comment and let the peeps know what's on your playlist.

To kick things off, let's start with the newest addition to TheFeed's staff: the incredible Jake Gaskill.

Jake Gaskill: Once I finish packing up the remainder of my stuff (my girlfriend and I are moving next weekend!), I’ll be returning to Bioshock for a little deep sea mayhem, because, quite frankly, there are few game worlds I’d rather spend a few hours in more than Rapture. Then I might scour the wastelands of Fallout 3 for the very same reason. (I wonder if my lust for a desolate and depressing setting has anything to do with the fact that I have just completed my first week at TheFeed. Hm…) And then just for kicks I’m going to jump back into Fable 2 to see how much sweet, sweet coinage I’ve managed to rack up since the last time I played. I will then promptly blow it all on hookers and meat pies and bask in my own filthy opulence. Good times.

It's the weekend, folks, and that means Easter eggs for Christians, leftover brisket and matzo ball soup for Jews and, for atheists, nothing... but that's how they like it. TheFeed will, as always, be playing video games this weekend, and here's which titles we'll be rocking on this most holy of weekends.

Brian Leahy: I feel like this weekend will be an achievement whoring weekend. In between matches of Halo 3 on the new Mythic maps, I’ll be grinding out some gamerpoints on Fallout 3, GTA IV, and Resident Evil 5. I’ll probably also try out RE5 Versus and see if it’s worth $5. Have you played it yet? Is it?

While Raymond Padilla is off at Wrestlemania, hanging out with wrestlers and divas, I'm taking over the task of compiling the list of games TheFeed will be playing this weekend. With Ray away, let me tell ya, there are going to be some serious changes 'round here. First off: This post will not be alphabetized at all!  It's totally random! Anarchy is in full effect!

Secondly... well, there is no secondly. I guess the changes are relatively minor. But, hey, take a second to leave a comment and let us know which game you are playing this weekend, and which of our choices stinks.

Billy Berghammer: Outside of Ninja-ing around the beach on Saturday with the G4 crew (come join us!), I’m planning on going back and finishing a few games over the weekend. I’m actually torn on what I want to go back to – it’s either going to be Fallout 3 or GTA IV. Either way, I’ll be happily shooting things in the face.

Before I kick off this week's edition of TheFeed's "Weekend Playlist." I wanted to make sure everyone knew that it's Brian Leahy's birthday today. He's a tremendous part of why TheFeed is such an awesome place to read and discuss gaming. If you're so inclined, leave your birthday wishes for Brian in the comments section.

Now moving onto business. Here's what TheFeed writers have planned for their weekend gaming sessions. Please let the crew know what you're playing and if you think any of their picks are ridiculous.

This week, Brian starts off the list since it's his birthday (someone please gift him some Street Fighter IV skills). After that, it will be alphabetical order based on the second letter of the writers' first names.

Brian Leahy: Tonight, I'll be playing "celebrate my birthday," but after that, I'll put some more time into GTA: The Lost & Damned now that Billy and I finished our playthrough of Resident Evil 5. There's always more Street Fighter IV to be played (on Xbox 360). Then it's off to GDC where I'll have my DS and PSP for GTA: Chinatown Wars and Resistance: Retribution.

Where the hell did the week go?!? That's what I want to know. As I figure that out, I thought I'd check on what my fellow staffers are playing this weekend. Some of the choices might surprise you! As always, let us know if any of our picks are crazy and tell us what you're playing this weekend.

Billy Berghammer: While I’ll mainly be playing the unpacking moving boxes game, and planning for GDC game...there are a few titles I will be exploring this weekend. First off I will be playing Metal Gear Solid: Touch to prepare for my review that will be hitting next week. But first my main goal is to finish off Killzone 2, and if I get past that, it’s Resident Evil 5 time. I was a huge RE4 fan, and can’t wait to play the game in co-op. So basically it’s unboxing and shooting things in the face. Happy weekend!

The weekend is finally here! Tons of us at TheFeed have grand plans to travel the world, party like rock stars, go on major shopping sprees, save dolphins, and more. The one thing we all have in common is that a good chunk of our weekends will be spent playing games. Here's the first (of what will be several) lists of what TheFeed crew is playing. Naturally, all of us want to know what games you're playing this weekend. It would also be fun to see if you think any of TheFeed writers are nuts for playing the games they play. Billy Berghammer: Ohhhh, too much to play this weekend and actually, this is a very special weekend for me for two reasons. Since it’s the 10 year anniversary of a website I created -- Planet GameCube/Nintendo World Report (shameless plug) -- I am going to go back and play a few different GameCube and Wii games. Most likely I’ll be tossing in Eternal Darkness, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Mario Kart Wii, and House of the Dead: Overkill, but who knows. The second reason this weekend is important is my favorite hockey team is in town -- The Minnesota Wild and they’re playing the LA Kings. It’s a very important game. So to warm up, I’ll probably be playing some NHL09.
