Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Comic-Con Interview »

Compared to what's possible on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it's easy to knock the graphical potential of the Wii. But Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles producer Masachika Kawata wants to prove the skeptics wrong. At Comic-Con, he told me a currently unrevealed stage in Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles pushes the Wii to places gamers probably didn't think it could go.

"I think it's perfectly possible to create great horror presentation on the Wii. In fact, unfortunately, we're not able to show it off just yet, but very shortly we're hoping to show off a en stage from a new scenario and I think when fans get a look at that they will really be asking themselves, is this really on the Wii? Actually, we went to Nintendo's offices earlier on this month to show them this new stage and they were really, really impressed by it and impressed by what we were able to get out of the Wii."

Hopefully, we'll see this stage at Tokyo Game Show!

One of the simultaneously great and terrible things about Comic-Con every year is the massive amount of cosplay that goes on there, with people of all shapes and sizes dressing as characters that run the gamut from the most popular to the most obscure in the realm of popular culture.

Our investigative reporter Dana Vinson decided to try and get to the bottom of the phenomenon by donning a costume herself, and hitting the floor to figure out what was so appealing about grown folks dressing up in costume. The result? A whole lot of people in strange costumes talking about what they're wearing and why. Did we come to any conclusions? You're going to have to watch the video to decide.

So, you couldn't make it to Comic-Con 2009...or maybe you did, but you couldn't get into the Attack of the Show panel because of the line of hundreds of fans waiting outside. You didn't think we'd let you miss it, did you? Of course not. Here, now, in its entirety, is the AOTS panel from Comic-Con, including interviews with Kevin Pereira, Olivia Munn, Blair Butler, and the executive producers of the show, talking about a typical workday, taking questions from fans, and giving some surprises to the crowd in attendance.

There's also a nerd rave. Yeah, it's exactly what you think it is. Check it out.

If you're having a problem with the video player, please just hit play and pause and let it buffer for a while. Then go make a sandwich. It's a big file. Thanks.,

PixelJunk Shooter Comic-Con 09 Producer Interview »

While Q Games' PixelJunk series has garnered a loyal following, one of the biggest complaints its fans have is the lack of online play. According to Sony Santa Monica producer Matt Morton, Q is doing everything in its power to get its upcoming titles, PixelJunk Shooter, online. Morton said:

"One of the great things I love about the developer -- Q Games out of Kyoto, Japan -- is that they listen to the community. They consistently watch the forums and everyone saying, 'I want to play this online!' They hear that and they're looking at any possible way they can bring it online."

Be sure to watch the entire interview from Comic-Con 09 to get more information on the game, see some brand new levels, and learn about Q Games' fan-friendly approach to development.

A few of us at Comic Con 09 were lucky enough to get a chance to check out the fully realized recreation of Flynn's Arcade on 6th street in downtown San Deigo. What some of us didn't know was the opening of Flynn's was preceded by a Tron Legacy ARG that lead Tron fans to a scavenger hunt, forcing them to find black-light hidden clues on "Flynn Lives" posters scattered across the city. Clues that led them to the grand re-opening of Flynn's. But let's be honest, you only wish you could have been there for the chance to play those classic arcade games. They were all set to free play.

Lost Planet 2 Comic-Con 09 Developer Interview »

Capcom is really pushing the four-player co-op capabilities of Lost Planet 2, but it's not your only option. At Comic-Con last month, producer Jun Takeuchi and director Kenji Oguro told me about the amount of customization available for gamers, including the ability to disable co-op entirely.

If you choose to, Lost Planet 2 will let you disable the co-op partners and tackle Lost Planet 2 solo. It's not the developers' recommended path, as the game is designed with three companions (even if they're A.I.-controlled), but for gamers seeking an extra challenge, the option is there.

I won't be picking it, though!

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Comic-Con 09 Producer Interview »

At Comic-Con 09, producer Ryota Niitsuma revealed that the biggest obstacle to bringing Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars the U.S. was licensing. The company had to go through an arduous process to bring all the Tatsunoko characters to America. Things were so bad that Capcom almost missed out on the rights to the Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets in America) characters. Niitsuma said:

"The licenses were all over the place. We had to go through Tatsunoko one at a time for each character. There were problems with some that were okay in Japan and weren't okay in America. The ones that were okay in America weren't okay in Europe. It was just a big rigmarole, trying to get them all and that's one of the reasons why it has taken so long to bring the game to America -- the licensing issue alone.

Gatchaman, Battle of the Planets -- out of the Tatsunoko side, those are the characters that are the most well known in the States and those are the ones that we almost couldn't get the rights to, because they're so hard to get a hold of for America. We said, 'No, we gotta have them because Americans know Gatchaman.' So we worked hard with Tatsunoko to make sure we got the rights to have Gatchaman in the game."

Niitsuma also gave a general overview on bringing a fighting game to the Wii and his background at making fighters. It's a great interview with some awesome footage, particularly for Gatchaman fans. Ken "G-1 The Eagle" Washio (Mark in Battle of the Planets) is shown kicking all sorts of ass, while Berg Katse (Zoltar) is shown being all evil and androgynous.

host Blair Butler takes you on a floor tour of Comic-Con 09.

Recent comic book videogame offerings, while awesome, aren't exactly the kid-friendliest.

Leave it to THQ to fullfill the need of providing a new generation the "Saturday Morning" introduction to our beloved heroes. The Marvel Super Hero Squad phenomenon, if you're not aware, started with a toy line (they all look like marshmellows!) turned into a TV series and has now come to consoles in the form of Marvel Super Hero Squad. Nerd parents everywhere looking to pass the torch in a completely G-rated way, here's a look from the gameplay trailer released from Comic-Con.
