Deadpool Movie In Trouble Because Of Green Lantern?

With rumors still running strong that sequels for the upcoming Green Lantern may start shooting back-to-back next year, fans quickly realized that such a scenario may put a damper on the other highly-anticipated project that star Ryan Reynolds has lined-up in Deadpool. In fact, if this is indeed how things play out, then Reynolds may be monopolized with Green Lantern Corps business up until late 2012 -- an eternity in movie land, especially considering how rabid the Deadpool fan base has become. Case in point, the Merc with a Mouth's biggest proponent in his creator Rob Liefeld has been tweeting like a madman as of late, expressing his displeasure with his brainchild's current dilemma.

Is the Deadpool movie really in this much trouble already?

Rumor: Christoph Waltz As The Spider-Man Reboot's Villain?

It seems that Captain America's boot may not be the only Marvel creation that will soon meet with a Nazi backside. According to exclusive trade magazine Production Weekly, reported via ThePlaylist, Sony is interested in bringing aboard the one and only Christoph Waltz (who, we should clarify, is not a real Nazi, but plays a hell of one) for Marc Webb's upcoming 2012 reboot of Spider-Man. The actor, known for his now legendary, Oscar-Winning performance as Inglourious Basterds' sadistic SS Colonel Hans Landa, has since reinvented his career with the proverbial villain's role in upcoming films like The Green Hornet and The Three Musketeers. While his involvement with Spider-Man is still nothing more than a rumor, it would undoubtedly be on course with his current career trajectory.

So, if the report is true, then who would he be playing?

Rumor: Two Green Lantern Sequels To Film Back-To-Back

One of the highlights of the vast array of panels at Comic-Con last month, was Martin Campbell's Green Lantern. While we've still only seen early glimpses of the film, with just under a year until its June 17, 2011 release, word is going around that we may be set for more -- specifically TWO more films.

According to BleedingCool, a source of theirs was hanging with some of the film's production staff in a New Orleans bar (where the film is currently shooting) and was lucky enough to extract what may be critical info out of the possibly inebriated, unwitting whistle-blower. If that info is correct, then it seems that the Green Lantern sequel will begin filming before the first film even hits theaters. Moreover, it will shoot along with the prospective third film back-to-back! It's a process that evokes the way the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed. When all's said and done, we could have three movies in three years!

Zachary Levi Shoots Down Superman Rumors

As some may recall, rumors recently started to spread about Chuck's Zachary Levi secretly auditioning for a role in the next Superman movie, presumably to play the Man of Steel himself. Well, one person that didn't seem to get the memo on that one was...Zachary Levi. Speaking to IGN last week at NBC's party over at the Television Critics Association press tour, the actor definitively shot-down the rumor which spread like wildfire last month. However, that is not to say that he wouldn't be open to the possibility of donning a wacky-colored spandex costume of some kind for a big-budget Hollywood blockbuster. In fact, in the interview, he reveals his attempts at doing such.

Stephen Sommers Returns To Direct G.I. Joe 2

It seems that the sequel to last year's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra can expect the return of its predecessor's director. After his involvement was generally doubted for a time, TheWrap is reporting that Stephen Sommers will indeed return to direct the follow-up to the 2009 film. While the film is still in developmental stages, it is already likely a lock for Rise of Cobra star Channing Tatum to reprise his role as Capt. Duke Hauser Duke. (Sorry, I couldn't do it.) However, don't expect the film to simply be the same old gang getting back together. As some may recall from earlier this year, a shake-up in the writing team has brought the sribes of Zombieland (and the upcoming Deadpool) Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to hopefully tighten up the storyline (borrowing some vocabulary from Westwood College Online.)

Robert Rodriguez In Talks To Direct Deadpool

It appears that signs could be pointing to the one and only Robert Rodriguez to assume the director's chair and bring the solo debut of  Marvel's infamous "Merc with a Mouth" to the big screen. According to The LA Times, the Sin City and Machete director is currently in talks with Fox to helm Deadpool, the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin-off, in which Ryan Reynolds is set to reprise his role as the talented, but mutilated mutant title character. The report echos some rumors that surfaced a few months back implying Rodriguez's interest in taking the film. However, barring any commitment issues Rodriguez may have with Spy Kids 4, the latest report seems to be on solid ground and it may only be a matter of time before the official announcement.

Wacky Rumor: Future Catwoman To Join Batman 3?

Could we be getting our first glimpse of the new Catwoman in Batman 3? Well, if the latest rumor about Christopher Nolan's upcoming follow-up to The Dark Knight has anything to say about it, then yes. According to ComicBookMovie, they've received word from a "reliable source" that the one and only Selina Kyle will indeed be part of the still unnamed third part of the Batman epic. Having glanced at some script notes which make reference to Selina's character, CBM's source may have stumbled upon some big news for the future love life of Christian Bale's tortured, gruffly-voiced, blame-absorbing Batman.
