New York Comic-Con 2011 has come and gone, but we’ll never forget the good times we had, the games we saw, the outfits that still haunt our dreams, and of course the collectibles we drooled over. G4 correspondent Harold Goldberg was on site and did a little collectible recon on some of the standout offerings from this year’s Con.

The Thing: From Movie To Video Game And Back Again

The Thing opens in theaters this weekend, but it's also been around for a long time in one form or another. It's been a book, a movie, a remake, a video game, and another remake that's more prequel that anything else, although it hits the same notes as the other two movies. So if you're into ice-cold terror in the Antarctic, one of these forms of entertainment is definintely for you.

Although the name has been co-opted by Volkswagen, a roadside attraction, and Marvel Comics, just keep in mind that only one of the original adaptations of the book has Kurt Russell in it, and by default that's usually the best one. But does that hold true here? You'll have to check and see. Check out the many different forms of The Thing.

Valve And Dark Horse Partner To Create Comic Collection Titled Valve Presents: The Sacrifice And Other Steam-Powered StoriesValve and Dark Horse Comics are partnering up to create a hardcover collection of comic books from the worlds of Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress, and Portal. The collection, called Valve Presents: The Sacrifice and other Steam-Powered Stories will contain over two hundred pages of story from the different Valve series.

The collection will be available on November 16 and is described as a "must-read for fans looking to further explore the games they love or comics readers interested in dipping their toes into new mythos!"

If the writing in the comic books lives up to the hilarious dialogue and antics that are in its video game counterparts, then I'm more than excited to dive in to the collection. How about you?

You can preorder the comic via Things From Another World for just $19.99.

Butcher Kings Show Comes To Los Angeles

The two iconoclasts you see above are Alex Pardee and Skinner, also known as The Butcher Kings, and they are a part of the No Friends artists collective, a group that creates art people actually like. I am posting about them because I think you should go see the show they have coming up at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles between October 6 and 29.

You will like the art, I promise you, even if you are one of those people who is all, "I don't like art."

You will like the art because it is funny and because it is good and because it is about things that you enjoy and care about, like movies, television and celebrities.  Plus, the Butcher Kings features many depictions of penises in their paintings.

Captain America: Super Soldier Release Date Announced

According to Marvel, the company is still looking for a new partner to develop an Avengers video game based on next summer's theatrical release. THQ was originally developing the title featuring characters like Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and Iron Man, but the Brisbane-based studio that was working on it got shut down.

In a statement to GameSpot, a Marvel spokesperson said, "The rights for a video game based on Marvel's Avengers IP have reverted back to Marvel." He also added that, "The company is in early stages of exploring potential publishing and licensing opportunities."

Meaning that Marvel is still very interested in pursuing a game to go with the flick, but they need to find the right partner first. Some of the main characters from the Avengers have had more successful games than others, like Captain America: Super Soldier, so it will be interesting to see who Marvel goes with to see the game come to fruition.

If you could pick any developer to work with Marvel on the Avengers game, who would it be?
