Bill Paxton is taking a break from Hollywood for the world of graphic novels. Blair Butler caught up with Paxton at New York Comic-Con to talk about the graphic novel he produced called Seven Holes For Air. The comic has just been released digitally, if you want to check it out.

Seven Holes For Air revolves around a working class guy with a normal life as a construction worker. While his daily life is taking place an alternate story where he lives in a spaghetti Western is playing out. Eventually these two stories meet, and I'm going to make an educated guess here, chaos ensues.

The Last of Us: Eight Pittsburgh Locations We Can't Wait to See in Ruins

A graphic novel for The Last of Us was announced today at New York Comic-Con. The main focus of the Dark Horse published comic will be Ellie's life before the events of The Last of Us.  The graphic novel will be penned by Naughty Dog's Neil Druckman and contributing author on Steam-Powered stories, Rachel Edidin.

“In Ellie’s world, when you enter into its version of middle school, you can either choose to become a soldier and go out and fight, or you can say no and go out to fend for yourself with the other survivors,” Druckman said during the NYCC panel. “Those are the two ways a teenager can live in this world. Ellie believes there is a third way."

"The Goon" needs your help. The comic book has become legendary among comics fans in its dozen year life, bringing fans killer robots, mobsters, zombies, killer robots, giant fish-men, and every outrageous thing in between, but with your help, a feature Goon film could be released to a wider audience.

"The Goon" film is coming from comic creator Eric Powell, David Fincher (critically-acclaimed director of "Seven," "Fight Club," and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo") and Dark Horse Entertainment, but needs 400,000 clams to create a story reel for the film, and thus raise the rest of the money for a big budget animated film.

You can give your money at The Goon's Kickstarter page. If you're a high-roller, make sure you give $10,000 -- you'll get a lunch with the creative team behind the movie, as well as your own private screening.

Splinter Cell Echoes Comic Book Announcement Trailer »

A comic book based on Splinter Cell is on the way. The Splinter Cell Echoes graphic novel takes place between the events of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist . The story bridges the gap between the two games, and aims to provide readers with a realistic, original story that sets the tone for the opening events in Splinter Cell Blacklist. It will be released in 2013.

"Nathan Edmondson and Marc Laming are respected experts in their fields and we are so incredibly fortunate to have them on board for the Splinter Cell graphic novel," said Patrick Redding, game director, Ubisoft Toronto. "Nathan's work in The Activity put him on our radar with its gripping balance between real-world geopolitics and high-tech spy fantasy themes we also explore in Splinter Cell. We're confident that all readers -- whether they've played every game in the series or are new to the franchise -- are going to really engage with this story and the level of fine detail Nathan and Marc inject into their book."

We'll have more details when they are announced.

We were there, taking pictures to bring you a look at some hungry ghouls and terrified humans. Check out our Comikaze Zombie Apocalypse pictures.

Star Wars Celebration 6 Wrap-Up: Exploring The Extended Universe

The first thing that most visitors saw as they walked into Star Wars Celebration VI in Orlando, Florida last week was a two-story high replica of an Imperial AT-AT walker. Those who came in through another entrance instead saw a massive inflatable Death Star suspended above the lobby floor. R2-D2 units whirred all around below, issuing forth from the nearby meeting room for the R2-D2 Builders Club. All over, costumed and armored men, women, and children helped to further the notion that attendees had just stepped into a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars Celebration is unlike any fan convention or trade show that I've been to. These are my people. I grew up watching and wearing out VHS copies of the Original Trilogy. My mother likes to sometimes remind me that my first trip to the movies was for A New Hope -- then just Star Wars -- while I was in utero. I treasured and still do treasure my action figures. I read every new book and comic as it comes out. Yet for all of that, I had never made the trek before to a Star Wars Celebration.

This was my mecca.

Magical Game Time And The Art of Zac Gorman

The world of video game web comics is an ever-growing field. While there certainly are mainstays in the arena like Penny Arcade and Ctrl+Alt+Del, there are many other smaller comics that have carved out their own niche.

Zac Gorman’s “Magical Game Time” is technically one of the smaller video game web comics out there (Gorman has yet to put on a massive gaming expo), but is quickly gaining traction and clout in its field. Always a sucker for I-knew-him-whens, I hit up Gorman for an interview to talk about—among other things—Awesomenauts, The Simpsons and games our moms liked to play.

Gorman’s first foray into video game web comics was with a small site called “I Draw Nintendo” which quickly took off when one of his Zelda pieces was picked up by a number of gaming sites. From the beginning, Gorman has strayed quite far from other gaming comics (so much so that I hesitate to even call Magical Game Time a web comic). As he puts it, “It was definitely just about making doodles of the games I love. I never really planned on making a video game web comic. Once it started taking off a little bit I just kinda ran with.” Now his artwork has been featured on myriad gaming sites and has been re-blogged on Tumblr countless times.
