When Microsoft and BioWare revealed Mass Effect 3 would have Kinect integration I was skeptical. Time has passed and my skepticism has blossomed into excitement. Jessica Chobot was at CES where BioWare finally let us test out Kinect's integration with Mass Effect 3. After watching this video, I am a believer. "Kaidan, I love you." Oh sorry, just practicing.

Double Fine announced its minigame collection Happy Action Theater toward the end of last year, a Kinect-powered Xbox Live Arcade release that was supposed to arrive sometime during the holidays. It never surfaced, which is probably a good thing given how jam-packed the 2011 holiday season was. The game is still coming though, and soon, Joystiq reports.

A Double Fine rep confirmed to the site that Happy Action Theater is now set for release sometime in February. With Microsoft's House Party 2012 promotion kicking off on February 15, that pretty much just leaves the first two weeks of the month open. I can't imagine any game releases doubling up alongside the House Party 2012 titles. There's also no price announced yet, though you can expect to hear plenty more soon enough.

Kevin Pereira and the Attack of the Show! crew got to check out the CES 2012 keynote from Microsoft, and according to them, it was a pretty awesome address to tech lovers everywhere. While there wasn't much gaming news out of Microsoft at CES, the company did unveil a bunch of new things like the Nokia Lumia 900 phone, Windows 8, and the introduction of Kinect for PCs and portable devices.

Kinect For Windows Coming On February 1

Microsoft doesn't want you to confuse Kinect for Windows with Xbox 360 console-based Kinect peripherals that have been forced to work with PCs. These are two separate things. The company confirmed during yesterday's CES 2012 keynote that the official Kinect for Windows release is happening on February 1 (via Gamasutra).

There's no price announced, but Amazon pegs the number at $249.99 (via Major Nelson's Twitter). That's a full $100 more than the MSRP for the console version of the peripheral. The PC version of Kinect was confirmed last year to be an improved take on the Xbox 360 release, highlighted by an ability to detect objects in close proximity to the camera lens.

You can probably expect to hear more on what this Kinect for Windows release entails as CES week continues to unfold, so stay tuned to G4 for more.

We've seen plenty of people using Microsoft's Kinect to accomplish impressive feats, and today's offering is no different. Youtube user Taylorveltrop has managed to program his Kinect, in conjunction with a Wii remote, to control and navigate a NAO robot. While I think this is really the first progress we've made toward controlling Gundams, this genius used it to brush his cat. Also commendable.

What do you think about controlling robots via the Kinect sensor? What types of things would you make the robot do?

From the creators of Red vs. Blue comes one of the funniest Kinectimals videos we've seen yet. Actually, we haven't seen that many funny Kinectimals videos, so get on that, people! This video in particular takes us on a journey with Joel as he teaches his friend Jack all about Kinectimals and some of their "playful" yet ferocious personalities.

Nom nom nom! What did you think of this video? Tell us in the comments section.

While Microsoft's Kinect, PlayStation's Move and the WiiMotion plus are sometimes not taken seriously by "hardcore" gamers, the holidays aren't about being hardcore; they're about togetherness and fun. Everyone else digs the gimmick of motion control, so get with the program and buy your giftee one of the following awesome motion games. I promise you'll enjoy yourself too.

Kinect Underground: The Secret World of Microsoft's Motion Controller

According to a report from Eurogamer, future Xbox consoles may come bundled with the powerful Kinect 2. The Kinect 2 is rumored to offer improved motion sensing, voice recognition, and be powerful enough to read gamers' lips.

It's also said the Kinect 2 will somehow be able to detect when players are angry by tracking the pitch and volume of their voices and their facial characteristics. Could this mean my Kinect 2 will now notice when I'm getting pissed off that my stupid panda from Kinectimals Now With Bears isn't reacting to me when I try to get it to climb trees?

The new and improved Kinect 2 will be able to do all of these funs things by dropping its current USB controller interface restrictions and increasing the bandwith between the Xbox and the motion sensor.
