Kinect Star Wars

If you're a Star Wars fan (and really, who isnt?) you'll want to check out our Kinect Star Wars review. In it, Jonathan "Nutz" Deesing concludes that Kinect Star Wars is a fun collection of mini-games, as long as you don't get too serious about the deeper side of Star Wars.

From our Kinect Star Wars review:

"Kinect Star Wars can best be described as a goodie bag party game, with five different game modes. There was really no question which mode I chose first. Jedi Destiny allows you to take the role of a Padawan after the events of Episode 1 and ends during the events of Episode 3. After a brief tutorial, you head to Kashyyyk to start slaughtering droids and Trandoshans with impunity."

Read the rest of our Kinect Star Wars review.

Check out the video above from Microsoft Research. It uses the Microsoft Kinect and a panning projector to take game objects and project them into your room. They call it the Beamatron, but you'll call it cool.

The Kinect basically creates a 3D model of the room, and tells the projector how to distort the image of the in-game object, and how the object should react to real-world scenery. In the video example, a projected car bumps into "walls" in its environment, and tumbles over a ramp. Neat!

Twisted Pixel's hilarious Kinect game The Gunstringer is now home to some new DLC, El Diablo's 'Merican Adventure. For 240 MS Points you get four new levels that follow newcomer protagonist El Diablo as he searches for his queen. From the look of the trailer, he'll use an infernal shotgun to take on a variety of paper cut-out enemies... and occasionally play guitar. Sweet.

The DLC launch appears to be motivated by the release of The Gunstringer as a downloadable Games On Demand title, available now for $29.99. Twisted Pixel's on-rails marionette-fueled adventure is big on comedy and still one of the best reasons to use your Kinect. Take a look at our Gunstringer review to learn more about this charming game.

X-Play's Adam Sessler recently spoke with Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor's Marketing Manager, Antoine Molant, about Capcom's upcoming Xbox title.

The this-gen iteration of Steel Battalion will combine the Xbox 360 controls with the Kinect, allowing gamers to play how they want. Capcom hopes these unique controls mean an incredibly immersive experience.

Steel Battalion

We recently got behind the wheel (or in front of the Kinect sensor) of Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, and took one big, badass test drive. We've got plenty of new info for you on the latest installment of Capcom's classic series. Here's a taste of what we found:

"The famous controller from the original Steel Battalion isn't getting an Xbox 360 update, so you can instead spend that $200 on Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor and your overdue purchase of the Kinect. Capcom’s dormant mech series is back in a big way and still manages to give players more buttons than they’ll know what to do with. As a play on the Kinect adage of you being the controller, Heavy Armor makes the game itself the controller."

Mass Effect 3 Kinect Voice Command Guide -- Kaidan Dance, Slowly!

Mass Effect 3 will allow gamers to take advantage of their Kinects by using voice commands to control their squad. If you need help with the Kinect voice commands, like I do, you'll appreciate this simple cheat sheet, provided by BioWare.

Some of the commands are simple like "Switch Weapon" and "Open." Keep reading to see the other cheat sheet. I recommend saving both images and printing them.

Dragon Ball Z Kinect Game Heading To The Xbox 360

Namco Bandai may be gearing up to release a Dragon Ball Z game for Microsoft's Kinect. Siliconera spotted Dragon Ball Z Kinect on Korea's Game Rating Board. An official announcement has not been made but I know enough about both DBZ and the Kinect to know I'm going to need to work on my Kamehameha stance. I'm confident I can pull off fusion or special beam cannon though.

Do you think Dragon Ball Z will be fun on the Kinect?

Kinect Star Wars

Microsoft recently brought in the newest build of Kinect Star Wars, and we got our hands on and bodies into some of the new modes. I felt like a regular Sith warriro or something!  Kinect Star Wars tries to cover all the bases when it comes to taking you into this epic series, with everything from dancing to light saber battles. Here's a taste of our preview:

"While we’ve gone lightsaber to saber before and taken the checkered flag in pod racing, these new modes take the game in a completely new direction as we burn it up on the dance floor of Jabba’s Palace and take control of a rancor and try to wreck a budding empire."

Tim Schafer stopped by X-Play to show off Double Fine's latest game, Double Fine Happy Action Theater. The downloadable Kinect game comes with 18 unlockable activities from the get-go. I say activities rather than minigames because there's no way to lose. The point isn't to win, but to have fun. And by have fun I mean roll around in molten lava in your living room.
