Harry Potter For Kinect Coming This Fall From Warner Bros.

Harry Potter For Kinect has been announced exclusively for the Xbox 360 by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The magical game will be based on all eight Potter films, and players will get to join staple characters like Harry, Ron, and Hermione as they go on adventures throughout Hogwarts and beyond.

The best part? Young Wizards and Witches will be able to use Kinect's scanning tech to create their own character to go on the journey with. They'll also be able to, "cast spells using physical maneuvers and by calling out spell names, offering an extraordinary, immersive Harry Potter experience," said WBIE.

"Harry Potter for Kinect will engage Harry Potter fans old and new by bringing them into the wizarding world as truly active participants," said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Kids and parents will enjoy recreating their favorite Harry Potter adventures, from flying a broomstick in a Quidditch match, to battling pixies and dueling other wizards. "

Harry Potter For Kinect will be out in Fall 2012 and I'll be the first in line to get sorted. Personally I think I belong in the Hufflepuff house. Are you excited for Harry Potter For Kinect?

The Avengers Video Game Coming: Marvel Avengers: Battle For Earth

Marvel Avengers: Battle For Earth is coming out for the Kinect and Wii-U. Ubisoft and Marvel Entertainment announced that they are teaming up to create a game based on the blockbusting superhero tong. The title will feature more than 20 characters from the Marvel universe and is based on the “Secret Invasion” comics, not the film. We don't know the release date, but it will obviously not be out until after the Nintendo Wii-U launches.

“The idea that we’re making a motion-control version of The Avengers is a unique proposition if you compare that to superhero games of the past,” said Tony Key, Ubisoft’s vice president of sales and marketing said to The Associated Press. “This is the perfect type of game for that because these characters are very action oriented. They’re always fighting and throwing things.”

Further details on the game are scarce, but Ubisoft promises more details at this year's E3 in June. Speaking of which, G4 will be all over E3 2012, bringing you all the news, videos, and surprises you could possibly need or imagine.

Kinect Underground: The Secret World of Microsoft's Motion Controller

Microsoft knows it's almost bikini season so they're getting ready to release Kinect Play Fit which will let all Xbox gamers track their exercise progress across most Kinect games via the cloud. Play Fit will be accompanied by a hardware accessory, currently codenamed Joule.

What Joule will allow gamers to do is, "track their heart rate wirelessly and ensure any exercise is within a target goal for weight loss, strength, or cross-fitness workouts," according to article in The Verge. You won't need Joule to make use of Kinect Fit Play, it's just an extra accessory for those who really want to track their progress.

Microsoft hasn't announced a release date for the Kinect Fit Play or Joule yet, but we'll probably hear more as E3 gets closer. As we get more details we'll be sure to give you an update.

Cheap Xbox

Microsoft has made its $99 Xbox official. The 360 with Kinect and a 4GB HD is available in Microsoft stores, and is only sold with a 2-year commitment to Xbox Live at $14.99 a month. Check it out on the official Microsoft site. Print the coupon and stop by a Microsoft store for the cheapest ever Xbox.

My question: is this kind of subsidized console going to catch on? We did the math, and the ultimate savings over traditional Xbox ownership is about $39 over two years, but the $15-a-month version of Gold might have some extra content.

So what do you think? Is this a good idea or not? Anyone planning on picking one up?

Dragon's Lair will be released on Xbox Live Arcade on May 18th, 2012. The classic game, originally released in 1983, once caused me to punch an arcade cabinet in frustration. The cabinet was not harmed. I was. (True story.) Digital Leisure's latest release of Dragon's Lair will have Kinect support.

If you're considering downloading this title next month, I would preemptively apologize to any and all downstairs neighbors.

NBA Baller Beats is a Kinect-exclusive "participative basketball video game" from HB Studios that Majesco Entertainment will release for Xbox 360 in fall 2012. Details are sparse at this point, but the game apparently requires players to use a real basketball as they work on their ball handling skills to the beat of an "eclectic soundtrack."

NBA Baller Beats Debut Trailer »

"Our innovative play mechanic combined with Kinect technology puts the ball in players’ hands, tracking both full-body gameplay and ball movement, so players are going to have to get up and actually play basketball to get in the game," Majesco CEO Jesse Sutton said in the press release. As you play, you'll unlock more songs, difficulty levels, and "over 100 posters and trading cards showcasing NBA players' greatest moves."

The full soundtrack listing hasn't been revealed yet, but you can expect to hear tracks from the likes of Kanye West, Run DMC, Gorillaz, Them Crooked Vultures, Common, and Tiesto. Check out the teaser above and head over to the game's official website to sign up for future updates.

Dragon Ball Z Kinect Game Heading To The Xbox 360

Kevin Kelly's Dragon Ball Z for Kinect preview starts like this: "How many of you (besides our own Donell Tucker) have ever watched an episode of Dragon Ball Z and imitated the poses from the show’s iconic heroes?" He should have said besides our own Donell Tucker and Leah Jackson, because I know I've tried to kamehameha my siblings more than a few times in the past. Here's more from Kevin's DBZ for Kinect preview:

So how does the game play? Once you get over the wish-fulfillment of suddenly finding yourself looking into in a first-person view of a cel-shaded Dragon Ball Z existence, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with the controls. Thankfully, a box on the right side of the screen will show you the moves Dance Central-stlye, and you can follow along to imitate the punches, ducks, kicks, spells, and more that you’ll need to survive the game.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Xbox Kinect Features Trailer »

Bethesda Softworks announced in a morning press release that The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim will soon be getting a free Xbox 360 update that adds Kinect-powered voice controls to the game. The more than 200 new voice commands cover everything from issuing orders to followers to menu controls to... wait for it... DRAGON SHOUTS. Fus. Ro. DAH!

The video above gives you a feel for the full extent of what to expect from this update, which should be coming our way before the close of April 2012. It's a cool add-on for the game, especially since it promises to help Skyrim fans become fluent in the ancient shout-y language of the dragons.

Dragon Ball Z For Kinect Announced

Namco Bandai have announced Dragon Ball Z for Kinect. You'll be able to become a Super Saiyan with this first-person fighting game, complete with over 50 characters from the DBZ universe. Not only will you be able to play as your favorite characters, but you'll be able to use their famous moves as well. The game will incorporate over 100 moves from the series, like the famous Kamehameha, but you'll also be able to punch, kick, and do other special moves with your arms and legs.

Dragon Ball Z for Kinect will be out in October 2012.

Steel Battalion Heavy Armor

Check out our preview of Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, the giant-mech fighting simulation game that uses your Kinect to help put you in the cockpit of a huge war-robot. Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor features online co-op in which you and your squad mates work together in the control room of a mech to deal death to all foes.

Kevin "Machine Gun" Kelly put the game's co-op through its paces, and let us in on how the game feels. It's slow, but slow isn't bad. Here's a taste of Kelly's Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor preview.

"One thing to keep in mind heading into this title is that isn’t a breakneck speed run and gun. Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor is a methodical tank battle using old-school technology, and it is paced more like a World War II tank battle. Although it can get exciting at times (remember to hit your exhaust vent to clear smoke from the cockpit, keep your shutter closed when you’ve been damaged, and don’t poke your head out the hatch when snipers are nearby), you’re going to need to become a quick study in flanking and footwork at a lower speed, just like the previous (and wonderful) two Steel Battalion titles."
