Angry BIrds Halloween Tops 1 Million Downloads In Under A Week

The makeup-sporting rockers in Kiss may seem like 70s throwbacks, but frontman Gene Simmons is totally modern. In a recent interview, the singer said he's in talks with various companies about creating a Kiss video games. He says he's in discussions with Sony and that we might expect an Angry Birds meets Kiss game. Oh, great.

I love Gene Simmons for his unabashed marketing and devout capitalism. When asked about the possibilities of a Kiss game in a recent interview, Simmons responded with the following epic collection of tie-in ideas, marketing synergy and branded product-information. The heart of rock and roll is still beating, folks. One of the most brilliant things about The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is its insanely amazing soundtrack. A group of Skyrim fans have taken Jeremy Soule's Dragonborn theme and created a rock remix that sounds incredible. I really love video game remixes and this is one of my favorites so far. Surprise! Someone has found a way to take geekiness to the next level , a thing that doesn't happen in this e-peen centric world of ours a lot of the time. Oh wait. Anyways, Shapeways, a store that lets people create real objects out of just about anything your mind can think up, is now selling a custom Fisher-Price clockwork record player record that plays "Still Alive" from Portal. The model and tune were all generated in Processing and it's made for the old clockwork music box.

Did you have an old school clockwork music box like this one, and if you still had it today which videogame related tune would you want to play on it? As for me, I'll stick to my iPod.

As nerds, we are constantly beset by an insatiable technolust; one that can be fed but never satisfied. There’s always a cooler TV, a better console, a crisper speaker; and then the next best thing hits a month later. Nowhere is this lust harder to subdue than on the floor of CES, where I was surrounded on all sides by an unimaginable collection of the coolest new technologies imaginable. So like any good nerd, I began fantasizing about which electronics I would put in my game room at home and before long I had built the perfect gaming room. You know, for a month or two.

Samsung UNES8000 – The Big Picture

Samsung UNES8000 – The Big Picture

I’ve long been a fan of Samsung TVs, and am grateful to see they are committed to constantly improving their design. Their newest TV revealed at CES 2012, the UNES8000 is as sleek and sexy as many of their current lineup but with some major changes. The TV comes with a standard LED screen that will support 3D viewing. The screen is gorgeous and comes almost all the way to the end—with only a paper thin border around the outside.

But by far the most promising feature is the Kinect-esque camera subtly placed on the top of the TV. I was told the camera reads faces and hand motions in order to carry out functions. Essentially it will be a Kinect for every moment you don’t have your Xbox on—and it will allow for one less controller cluttering up your coffee table. As the centerpiece of the perfect living room, the TV is obviously the one thing you can’t screw up. And Samsung apparently knows it.

I stumbled across the above video on Engadget over the weekend as I was looking around for tech news. A chiptune composer who goes by the name cTrix put together a sweet-looking custom "guitar" of sorts to use during live performances.

An Atari 2600 console is at the heart of the creation, with the "fretboard" occupied by a series of effects pedals that are typically used by regular guitarists as footswitch controllers. The video also features cTrix's live performance at Japan's Blip Fest 2011, giving you a chance to check out the gATARI2600 in action!

Interview with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Composer, Brian Tyler

Activision not only deployed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 today, it also released the original soundtrack album for the game, featuring music composed by Brian Tyler. While Tyler may be relatively new to the game music world, he has seen plenty of action on both the big and small screens, scoring films including The Expendables and Battle: Los Angeles, along with Star Trek: Enterprise. But it isn’t just his talent or his experience with war films that makes Brian Tyler uniquely experienced to take on one of the biggest game soundtracks of the year. Tyler is a gamer, specifically one who has logged many hours playing online multiplayer in the Modern Warfare series. The Feed spoke with Brian Tyler about the music he created for Modern Warfare 3, the soundtrack album and why multiplayer menu screen music is just as important as the interactive themes heard while playing the game.
