G4TV.com's Frank Meyer (Feedback, Freestyle 101) is more than just a great video producer and a rock star. He's also a legit author, and expert on the greatest band in rock and roll history, The Ramones. Meyer has written a new book, When The Wall of Sound Met the New York Underground: The Ramones, and I think you should buy it.

The book explores the collaboration between punk pioneers The Ramones and volatile genius producer Phil Spector, so you know there's going to be drama. Plus, it's from Frank, and he's boss. Check out the video above, then order When The Wall of Sound Met the New York Underground: The Ramones on Amazon or iTunes.

Because Attack of the Show blogger/amazingperson Moye Ishimoto is such a hipster, she sometimes sends me awesome videos from indie bands you probably haven't heard of. Like the video below.

I Love Lightning Bugs are obviously huge fans of indie platformer Limbo, and have created an inspiring video based on the game for their song "Not the Hopeless Kind." Not only is it based on Limbo, but it has tons of cryptozoological imagery. I dig it, daddy-o. You can buy the album here.

Rock Band Blitz Introduced

The release date for Rock Band: Blitz has been announced. Harmonix's downloadable music game will be available on the PlayStation Network on August 28 and Xbox Live Arcade on August 29. It'll run you $14.99.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, it uses your existing catalog of songs from Rock Band games and puts them in the context of a fast-paced arcade game, no plastic instruments needed. Rock Band Blitz will ship with more than 20 songs from music’s biggest artists, including music from Blink-182, Foster the People, and Iron Maiden.

This year at Comic-Con 2012 Sara Underwood scoured the show floor for the best of the best exclusive collectibles. On her list? The Peavey Spider-Man Rockmaster Guitar, the Star Wars Admiral Motti mini bust from Gentle Giant, and the Bruticus and Vykron action figures from Hasbro. For the record, I'd get in that giant suit for a huge bag of toys too.

Mega Man Soundtrack Collection Features The Coolest Packaging Ever

Capcom has a treat coming for Mega Man fans in Japan, in the form of a 10-disc soundtrack collection gathering together the music of the series' numbered games, from Mega Man to Mega Man 10, and packing the discs into an Energy Tank replica. If you look at the image above and feel a sudden, urgent need to leap on top of it then you're probably the target audience for this release.

Unfortunately, it appears that this oh-so-sweet collection is only going to be available in Japan, with Andriasang confirming a September 19, 2012 release and a price of ¥14,700 (or roughly $180). The collection will be sold exclusively on e-Capcom, the publisher's online store in Japan; it includes the 10 discs and a booklet along with that awesome E Tank.

Sing for the Wii U was just announced. The karaoke style game uses the Wii U's unique capabilities to allow group participation in songs. That means singing for one player, and a dancing game for the other people in the room.

Sing uses the Gamepad controller to display lyrics, meaning you can face the people you're singing to, and watch them dance.

DJ Hero Bel Biv Devoe + Beastie Boys Gameplay »

With the recent passing of Adam Yauch, founding member of the Beastie Boys, it’s time to look back at how his work touched so many people. Adam lost his fight with cancer today at the age of 47. Even if you are not directly familiar with the work of the Beastie Boys, you probably hear much of their music from video games through out the years.

From music games like Guitar Hero and DJ Hero to action games like Madden 10 and Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, the sound of the Beastie Boys brought high energy and a sense of fun to just about any game they appeared in. Their music spanned generations as well as cultures. From the loneliest geek to the most popular jock, we all sign to the tops of our lungs when we hear the chorus of “Fight For Your Right.”

Though Adam will be missed, his presence will live on for generations both through his fans and those who have yet to discover him in the virtual world.

Thank you, Adam.
