resident evil afterlife

The Feed diverts, just ever so slightly, from our usual weekend video game soundtrack reviews, to take a listen to a bit of movie music.  Resident Evil: Afterlife hit theaters this weekend and features an original soundtrack by veteran composing team, tomandandy.  Described as a “hybrid genre” score, this tightly produced set of music works on multiple levels, beyond the 3D zombie apocalypse movie it was created for.  Join The Feed inside for a listen.  We promise you will not get infected by the T-virus.

DJ Hero 2

Jake "DJ Cutmaster-XXXtreme" Gaskill recently took to the wheels of steel to give DJ Hero 2 a spin (get it? Spin?), and was very impressed with the improvements made over the first DJ Hero, including new, realistic record scratching action:

Rather than triggering prerecorded “scratches” by matching the onscreen instructions when a scratchable section is available, players can create their own custom scratches during these sections, and the effect is as satisfying as you'd expect. As well it should be since you’re directly manipulating the track, instead of just mimicking the game's pre-rendered scratches, which you'll still do, but not exclusively."

At its music-centric "special event" today, Apple revealed new versions of its iPod devices, including an impressive looking iPod Touch with a camera and Game Center integration, as well as Ping, a social networking element that will be available in the next iTunes update.

The top-of-the-line iPod will come in three versions: 8GB for $229, 32GB for $299 and a 64GB $399. They will be available for pre-order today, and will start shipping next week.

The lower-level iPods break down as follows:

The fourth gen Shuffle will cost you $49 bucks and features a click-wheel with no screen, where the new Nano now has a touch-screen, from which you'll be able to navigate your music just like you can on an iPhone. The prices: $149 8GB, $179 16GB version. Coming for holiday season.

Bieber Fight

TheFeed editor Jake Gaskill is a big fan of Justin Bieber. Jake says The Beeb (that's what Jake calls him) is the king of tweens, and the king of real rock and roll. So he's totally offended by TheOatmeal's "How many Justin Biebers could you take in a fight" quiz. Jake is crying right now. Look what you did, The Oatmeal!

By the way, I could take 21 Biebers. How about you?

Chiptunes musician ComputeHer has just released her new album, entitled “Modemoiselle”. Now the cleverness of the name alone is worth high praise, but The Feed would rather have you join us for a listen and decide for yourselves, since this is more than just music inspired by and played on videogame systems. Hit the link below for some samples and even a free download.

"If you simply listened to all these songs we've handpicked to include in the game, you would recognize what an amazing soundtrack they would make," said Tim Riley, Vice President of Music Affairs, Activision.
