Happy August! Here's what went down on our original web franchises this week:

  • Sessler's Soapbox: Last week's Comic Con saw a short list of big video games get the delay treatment, and that's not necessarily a bad thing! Take the time to listen to Adam Sessler explain the many reasons why delays can be good on this week's Soapbox.
  • The MMO Report: This week Casey is back in the studio with tons of MMO news from The Con. Did you know that Sam Raimi is directing the World of Warcraft movie? Or that Free Realms is about to reach 5 million users in its first 3 months? Or that The Matrix Online is shutting down? Yeah, I didn't know that game was still going either. So put down your Marvel Max trades and press play, you've earned it.
  • Fresh Ink: Blair Butler blasts through two weeks worth of comics in one action-packed edition of Fresh Ink Online. You get reviews of X-Force, Fantastic 4, Blackest Night: Green Lantern, Invincible, Phonogram: The Singles Club, and the debut of Immortal Weapons. And will Batwoman’s Detective Comics or Northlanders take Pick of the Week? Tune in and find out…

And now, the news.

Here's what went down on our original web franchises this week:

  • Sessler's Soapbox: Sit down with The Sess and listen to this week's Soapbox. Adam uses tthe 50th anniversary of the Lady Chatterley's Lover case as a springboard to discuss how video games appear to have dodged the censorship bullet, if only temporarily. Is this the time to celebrate a small victory? Or is this just another calm before the inevitable storm? You decide.
  • The MMO Report: Not too long ago Atari invited The MMO Report to come up to San Francisco to spend some time with their upcoming MMO, Champions Online. Not only is it the best looking game we've seen in a while, but the seeminly infinite options in the character customization and the anyone/anytime/anywhere PvP system they've developed seem to beg the hardcore MMOers to come in and test the waters. Are you up for to the challenge, heroes?
  • Fresh Ink: Anyone familiar with hip hop’s Murs knows he loves comic books. He raps about ‘em, he chats about ‘em, and he freestyles about ‘em (just check his Freestyle 101). Now he gets a chance to review ‘em as he fills in for his favorite host, the great Blair Butler, on Fresh Ink Online about some of his favorite comics, including X-Factor, Queen and Country, DMZ, Black Lightning, Scott Pilgrim, Wolverine: Old Man Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy, Nova and Red Robin.

And now, the news.

Happy Summer! Alas, the weekend is almost over but that only means you've got more of The Feed to look forward to on Monday! Here's what went down on our original web franchises this week:

  • Sessler's Soapbox: Adam Sessler wanted to explain why he thinks games coming from independent developers are so important for the industry and gamers alike. If you bring more creative voices to the table, everyone else has to match their game and be just as innovative, creative and interesting as the other guy. So press play and find out what Adam has to say on the subject.
  • The MMO Report: Casey tells you about Champions Online's PvP system, another EVE Online bank going under, and Star Wars: The Old Republic record breaking voice acting. But there are other reasons for you to watch this episode. In fact, this might be the greatest episode of The MMO Report so far.
  • Fresh Ink: Fresh Ink Online host Blair Butler rockets through a slew of brand new comics, including Incognito, Punisher, The Killer, Blackest Night, and Beta Ray Bill. And does hard cover graphic novel Asterios Polyp count as a comic book? Watch and see.

And now, the news:

  • Sessler's Soapbox: this week Adam takes a moment to discuss the gaming possibilities offered by Apple's iPhone. Do you buy fully-functional games for the iPhone? Or do you follow in Adam's footsteps and read the paper or do some crossword puzzles on your iPhone in your spare time? Either way, it's a subject begging for a debate, so check out this week's Soapbox and let us know what you think.
  • The MMO ReportThis week Casey tells you all about the upcoming Final Fantasy XI add-on scenario, the Bioware/Mythic merger, and all the troubles World of Warcraft has been having in China. Be thankful you live in the Western Hemisphere.
  • Fresh Ink: Blair Butler ran into legendary comic book writer Grant Morrison at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles, and talked with him about some of the highlights of his long and storied career, which includes having written Animal Man, Final Crisis, and We3. They talked about what's next on Morrison's docket, and where he sees the future going for the world of comics.
