UPDATE: It turns out that there's a bit more to this footage than we originally thought. While the above footage is indeed from The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, it's not edited together as an officially released trailer. What you're seeing above is a fan edit of footage that premiered on IGN's Up At Noon last week, as a PR rep explained to Giant Bomb. So don't judge this early look too harshly.

ORIGINAL POST: Later this year, Activision will publish The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, based on the hit AMC TV series, and developer Terminal Reality is kicking off the new year with an early look at some gameplay. The context-free clip montage focuses on highlighting the stealthier side of the game, leaving any nods in the direction of the Dixon brothers-focused story for future previews.

The idea of The Walking Dead as a first-person SHOOTER is alarming if you're a fan of either the comic or the TV series (or both), so showing off this less action-focused material in the debut gameplay trailer is a smart move on Activision's part. Does this footage sell you though? What's your excitement level for Survival Instinct after seeing this footage for the first time?

What if DNA analysis technology advances far enough that you could predict your entire future, from when you fall ill, have kids or even die? That's what the indie film, Life Tracker, is all about. Written and directed by Joe McClean and starring Barry Finnegan, Matt Dallas and Rebecca Marshall, the indie film follows an aspiring documentarian and his friends as they learn more about the invention of such a device and how it wrecks havoc on the world.

I don't know about you, but the farthest point in my future that I can see is what I'm going to eat for lunch every day. And I'm okay with that. So if someone does build a DNA tracking device that can predict when I'm going to exit this world, I'm running far away from it. What would you do?

Life Tracker will be released sometime in 2013.

If you're still ecstatic over the (not terribly surprising) news that Earth Defense Force 2025 will be coming PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles in North America, then this trailer is for you. It's a few days old, sure, but you may have missed it because of the holidays. Five full minutes of space alien-exploding action with a focus on the coming game's new set of toys.

This is a Japanese trailer, so you probably won't understand a word of what's being said. That doesn't matter. The language of splattering alien bug guts all over a crumbling city is universal, and EDF speaks it so very, very well. There's no release date yet, but Sandlot plans to release EDF 2025 sometime this year.

Canabalt continues to be one of gaming's more influential titles, which means that you should definitely sit up and take note when its creator, Adam Saltsman, delivers something new, as he does today. Hundreds, available now for iOS devices, is the work of Saltsman and his fellow team members at Semi Secret Software.

The tutorial-free puzzle game tasks players with making all of the circled numbers in each stage add up to 100, a feat accomplished by tapping and/or holding each circle. A variety of obstacles spring up to complicate your number-crunching, including circles with negative numbers and spinning saw blades. Wrapping it all together is a sleek, minimalist look that immediately catches the eye.

You can hear more from Saltsman and some of his Semi Secret team members -- folks who worked on the likes of Solipskier and Wurdle -- in an interview on The Verge. In the meantime, check out the neat launch trailer.

2013 Games Preview: DmC: Devil May CryRelease Date: January 15, 2013

Developer: Ninja Theory

Publisher: Capcom

Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows (on 1/25)

The son of Sparda is back! Capcom's veteran mercenary and demon hunter is setting out on an all-new adventure in just a few weeks from now, in DmC: Devil May Cry. Ninja Theory, a newcomer to the franchise, is set to deliver a rebooted take on Hideki Kamiya's creation. Early looks at the game have shown a lot of promise, with a combat system that appears to be just as deep and as complex as fans of the series would expect.

What We Know:

DmC: Devil May Cry isn't the sort of full-on reboot that aims to erase the past. Dante's earlier adventures still exist within the series canon while Ninja Theory's tale picks up in a parallel universe. Our younger, shorter-haired Dante kicks off his adventure in Limbo City, an urban landscape that seems normal at first... until the demon overseers that run the place start sending all manner of nasty critters off to kill Dante.

Pre-orders are now open for NECA's beautiful Skyhook replica from BioShock Infinite. The handheld device is the first weapon you receive in the game, also doubling as a tool used to zip between the floating islands of Columbia along an elaborate rail system. The replica won't allow you to do any of that, but it's still really sweet.

Customers in the United States can place their pre-orders now for the $79.99 item, according to the official Facebook page (via MTV Multiplayer). You can see the thing in action in the video above. NECA is the same company behind the Portal gun replica, as you probably know. Expect this item to disappear just as quickly.

On just another day way back when, X-Play staffers started noticing that an odd fellow had shown up to their office that morning. It was an NPC from The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, and while some people were concerned, others saw only the possibilities.

Everywhere X-Play went, they'd get asked over and over what it was like spending working hours playing games, reviewing games, previewing games and beyond. It got so overwhelming, they decided to put out a video to answer the question once and for all. Find out what they had to say in this revisit of an X-Play Classic.

Aliens: Colonial Marines Story Trailer »

You've surely heard by now that Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines delivers a story that franchise rights-holder 20th Century Fox regards as official canon. The setup for that story is laid bare in a newly released trailer which is light on gameplay and heavy on exposition.

Colonial Marines is effectively a direct sequel to the events of Aliens, picking up not long after the events of Alien 3. A search and rescue force sent to investigate the U.S.S. Sulaco steps into the aftermath of a Xenomorph bloodbath, both aboard the ship and on the surface of LV-426. The new trailer features lots of nods for franchise fans, so give it a look.

Dead Space 3

Electronic Arts and Visceral Games will be giving Dead Space 3 fans a chance to try the game early with a playable demo that will launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms next month. The official release date is January 22, 2012, just a few weeks short of the game's February 5 launch.

You've got options though. Those who would like to take an earlier crack at the demo -- on Xbox 360 only, unfortunately -- can do so by browsing over to demo.deadspace.com and following the directions there. It's easy; you just need to provide your birthday and sign in from there to your Origin account. You'll then be sent a download code that will allow you to access the demo a full week early.

Sure, X-Play might have started out small and humble, but once the good times got rolling, Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb rode an international drug-fueled rocket ship of destruction that was completely unsustainable. When the huge crash came, you can bet E! True Hollywood Story was there to document it all. Watch the video below to find out what went down.

Sure, most times gamers see Kratos, he can get away with stabbing first and asking questions later, but in domestic life, he's got to play by the rules just like everyone else. He doesn't always find the adjustment back to civilian life so easy though, as demonstrated in this video from the X-Play Classics vault.

This new trailer is meant to prepare you for Visceral Games' Dead Space 3, which hits stores on February 5, 2013. There's still plenty of time to work your way through the series' first two games, but this "story so far" video does all the work for you. Spoilers ahead?

It's not as spoiler-y as you might think, revealing only the main beats of the previous releases. You'll still want to avoid the trailer if Dead Space/Dead Space 2 are on deck for the coming weeks, but even knowledgeable fans can appreciate this video refresher on Markers, Unitology, and other bits of lore from the Dead Space universe.

Do you suffer from a compulsive need to hold on to loot? Even when it's completely worthless, perhaps unsanitary and definitely rendering you wildly overencumbered? Then maybe the story of Davokhiin can help. Sure he might be the hero of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, but he's also got a real problem letting things go.

Gary Schyman, the man behind the music of BioShock and BioShock 2, is returning once again to work with Ken Levine and the Irrational Games team on scoring BioShock Infinite. The news is confirmed in an official announcement from Levine that came at the start of his appearance for yesterday's Reddit AMA session.

“His score is very different from the first two games, yet very much guided by the same aesthetic principles," Levine said of Schyman's current work. "We were lucky to have him and I can't wait until you get to hear some of his stuff. He's working in a different, sparer style, but it's awesome.”

You can hear some of that style right now in a newly released excerpt from BioShock Infinite's soundtrack, the full version of which is a packed-in exclusive included with the Premium and Ultimate Songbird versions of the game.
