Super Mario Coin Block Lamp Is What Geek Dreams Are Made Of

I'm not usually one for freaking out over Etsy products, but I stumbled onto this page this morning and had to share. What you're looking at is a Super Mario Coin Block hanging lamp, complete with sound effects and a touch-senstive underside. The price is a bit steep at $74.99, but these puppies are custom made.

The 6"x6"x6" cube is made of laser-cut plexiglass and uses LED bulbs to conserve energy. It dangles from its 11-foot power cord, so you'll need a hook to hang it from and a convenient power outlet. The coolest part though? There are sound effects. Turn the light on and you'll hear the SMB coin 'ding'; every eighth time you turn it on, you'll get the 1-UP sound. Badass.

It might seem kind of redundant, but Lego Minecraft exists... the set is coming out this summer, but you can pre-order your Lego Minecraft set now for $34.99.

The sets contain mini-figs of a creeper, Steve, a bunch of brick-types, mining equipment and more! A total of four modules exist, giving you hidden resources, extra pieces for wood, dirt, and stone. I've put another picture under the Read More tag for you, too. I'm nice like that.

Activision has announced Skylanders Giants, the next game in the Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure series. Activision and developer Toys for Bob will release brand new figures for gamers to collect, and they're, well, giant.

"Skylanders Giants builds upon the breakthrough fundamentals of the first game-merging the physical and virtual realms with an innovative line of cross-platform toy figures that have "brains," which players everywhere can magically bring to life in the world of Skylands," said Activision.

Eight new giant characters will be released and they'll all be more than twice the size of normal Skylanders figures, both out of the box and in the game. They'll also have lights built in and they'll illuminate when they're placed near the Portal of Power. The good news is that you won't have to buy a new Portal of Power for them to work, and all of the characters from Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure will work in Skylanders Giants.

AR Drone

I don’t get toys for Christmas anymore. And that’s fine. I got a really nice Swiss Army watch this year and was probably more excited than the one time I got the green Power Ranger. But if anything could possibly reanimate my desire for toys, it’s the AR Drone 2.0 from Parrot.

We all saw the original AR Drone in ads or every dammed Brookstone from here to Manila, and we all had the same question: “did you guys not see Terminator?” Apparently not, as the team at Parrot seems destined to improving this machine to the point of its eventual use as a deadly hunter of human resistance fighters.

Mineways: A Free Program The Brings Your Minecraft Sculptures To Life

Mineways is a new, free, program that will let you turn your Minecraft creations into real sculptures. You can use the program to build anything from the imaginative game, not just objects. To make it work, all you need is a 3D printer, or someone like Shapeways, who will put it together for you.

We know there's a LEGO Minecraft set coming soon, but this is different. With the LEGO set you have to rebuild your creations out of Minecraft-inspired blocks. With Mineways, you can take things that you've already created, and bring them to life. If someone spends a lot of time creating a very intricate object, I can totally see why they'd want to use this program.

What do you think of Mineways? Will you be trying it out? You can find all of the details on the Mineways website.

LEGO Batman 2 - Super Heroes Confirmed By LEGO Toy Sets

We first heard rumors of a second LEGO Batman game at the end of last month from an apparently leaked promo image that suggested the next game would be casting a wider net into the DC Comics superhero and supervillain pool. While there still hasn't been a formal announcement about the follow-up from TT Games, you can go ahead and consider today's news a confirmation.

Ads for a video game called LEGO Batman 2 - Super Heroes are printed inside the instruction manuals for LEGO's Super Hero line of playsets, MCV reports. The ads feature images of various DC characters, including Superman and Wonder Woman. They also reveal that the game is coming to Xbox 360, Wii, 3DS and unspecified Sony platforms, presumably both the PlayStation 3 and Vita.

There's no release date or any other information listed, and these LEGO Super Hero sets TECHNICALLY aren't out until next year (some retailers apparently have them already), but I think we can now safely stop thinking of LEGO Batman 2's wider DC Comics focus as a rumor.

Nintendo made an appearance at the Los Angeles Auto Show recently and they brought some awesome life size Mario karts with them. The karts, based off of the series Mario Kart, were created by West Coast Customs. There were two custom, life size karts, one for Mario and one for his brother, Luigi. Both karts are giant representations of the actual karts from the upcoming 3DS game Mario Kart 7.

The life size Mario karts will eventually be given away to members of the GameStop PowerUp Rewards program. Winners will be announced in February.

Minecraft LEGO Set Announced: Now You Can Build Anything In Real Life Too

Minecraft developer Mojang has announced they're going to be working directly with LEGO to release an official Minecraft LEGO set. On top of already being awesome enough to create a LEGO Minecraft set, Mojang has also agreed to donate 1% of the royalties to charity. Isn't that nice?

"Minecraft is about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine in the virtual world," Mojang said. "You can build anything you imagine with LEGO bricks in the physical world. Minecraft and LEGO were meant to be together."

Are you interested in buying some Minecraft themed LEGOs?

Walmart Black Friday Deals Start On Thanksgiving Day: Get An Xbox Kinect Bundle For $199

One of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions is to go Black Friday shopping with my dad, and this year Walmart is making it much easier by offering their Black Friday deals at 10pm on Thanksgiving evening, followed by events at Midnight and 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 25.

“Our customers told us they would rather stay up late to shop than get up early, so we’re going to hold special events on Thanksgiving and Black Friday,” said Duncan Mac Naughton, chief merchandising officer, Walmart U.S. “We’ll have this season’s hottest gifts at prices only Walmart can provide. And by sharing our Black Friday specials earlier than ever, we hope to make buying decisions easier for parents working hard to give their families the Christmas they deserve.”

And luckily for you, we've got a list of some of the best electronic goods that you may want to keep an eye out for during the sale.

At 10pm on Thanksgiving you can snag the following:

  • Xbox360 4GB with Kinect Console – $199.96 plus a $50 Walmart gift card
  • 6V or 12V Ride-Ons (e.g., Jeep Wrangler, X Games ATV or Barbie Jeep) – $99 each
