The MMO Report

This week, we let Casey gets some freshly recycled air inside the Los Angeles Convention Center at E3 '08. It's the biggest gaming event of the year, and if you haven't been paying attention all week, then you're WAY behind. You fail at life.

This week, we bring the first of a two-part series covering the MMOs we saw at E3. This week we'll give you the inside scoop on the new HD version of Runescape, what Jagex is working on for the future, the awesome space-shooter MMO Jumpgate: Evolution, and one of the most impressive games at E3, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. And that's only the first half. You might want to find a comfortable chair and turn the phone off, you may not be available for a while. This is...

So Blizzard has started accepting applications for the Wrath of the Lich King beta, and nerds everywhere are racing to the website to sign up. Here's the link for your linking pleasuer. worldofwarcraft.com/account/beta-opt-in.html

In other news, Square Enix is bringing one of their Japanese MMOs to the states, more details about Bioware's unnamed MMO, and Casey's thoughts on the culinary choices of world leaders. He's quite the foodie, in case you didn't know. But we know why you're all here; not for the updates on your favorite games or news on up and coming titles, but to worship at the alter that is Casey Schreiner. You love him. You adore him. You want to have like 10,000 of his babies. Let's hope modern science makes that possible someday.

So slide into that barka lounger of yours, put your phone on vibrate, and prepare to be assaulted with awesomeness. This is...

Tomorrow is the celebration of our nation's independence, and what better way to celebrate than by sitting at home indoors, watching your favorite web show about games that you stay indoors playing for hours on end. Yeah, sounds great to us too.

This week Casey will drop some knowledge on you about the upcoming Death Knight class in World of Warcraft, show off some exclusive gameplay footage X-Play got of Stargate Worlds, and we'll inform you of the new details that were leaked regarding DC Universe Online. But don't get your hopes up, they have nothing to do with Wonder Woman, her Lasso of Truth, or you fathering her superbabies. Get your mind out of the gutter, sicko.

So crack a beer (make sure it's domestic), wave an American flag over your head (made in China), and pack 12 pounds of fireworks into the trunk of your dad's car (you're going to hell). I'm sure he'll find it hilarious. This is...

Today marks a special event in the history of the MMO Report; an episode containing both The ORLY Factor and WTF Second Life. That might be too much awesome to handle in one session, maybe you should take a break in the middle of the show and go get some fresh air.

There, don't you feel better? This week Casey gives you some details about World of Warcraft patch 2.4.3, a new edition of the Oathbound saga in Legends of Norrath, and the exclusive look at Warhammer Online that G4tv.com and X-Play got last week. (By the way, here's the link to that.) Oh, plus the two additional segments we mentioned before. Yes, we're just that good to you. So make sure you're in a comfortable chair, you have a glass of water at arm's length, and you've got a spotter. This is...

You just can't keep a good man down, so image how hard it must be to silence the greatness that is Casey Schreiner.

The MMO Report brings you another week of comedic journalism, or factual comedy, either term is fine with us. We keep you laughing through the pleasure and pain, but mostly the pain. We can be a bit sadistic sometimes. This week we'll tell you about how Turbine is working on an MMO for home gaming consoles, a new race that was revealed from Requiem: Bloodymare, and a new MMORTS that is free to play, and can be managed through a browser-based program. If that isn't dangerous to the productivity of the American public, then I don't know what is.

It's that time again. Prepare yourself to have your mind blown. But just your mind, we don't really like you that way. This is...

This week, we all welcome Casey back into the studio with open arms and open hearts. Just make sure you don't get too open with your feelings about him,  you'll see why in this week's episode.

The news this week includes the discovery of a level 70 Orc Hunter who's running for the Connecticut State Legislature, a psychologist who says that people would rather admit to having a pornography addiction than to playing World of Warcraft, and our newest segment, The ORLY Factor. Please don't tell a certain someone over at Fox News that we're spoofing his show, we might start getting court orders for royalties, which will subsequently lead to a civil suit for assault and battery. I don't care if he's 58 years old, that man need a very thorough beating.

Back to the point, we think you'll enjoy this week's show. But you should be enjoying every show, so don't blame us if you have no sense of humor. So put down the Metal Gear for 10 minutes, remind yourself that the storyline will never make sense, and prepare to fall in love all over again. This is...

Many of you have been watching our show for quite some time now, and we thank you for it. Those of you that have been around long enough to remember John Walsh's guest hosting skills are in for a treat; he's baaaaaaaack.

Yes that's right, the man too epic for broadcast television has returned to fill in while Casey takes care of some more pressing duties. John Walsh is not only your very special guest host this week, but he is also the Metropolitan Editor for one of our favorite new sites, BushLeague.tv. If you haven't browsed their articles and original videos, well then I suggest lining your undies with something absorbant.

But back to the show. This week we'll tell you about the crafting system in Warhammer Online, how EverQuest plans to get you back on the wagon, and how World of Warcraft helped two star-crossed lovers find each other...and lead the police on a multi-state kidnapping fiasco. Tsk tsk. So clear the cache on your browser, erase all evidence of correspondance, and make sure the FBI doesn't have your finger prints on file. This is...

We here at the MMO Report love gifts. We gladly accept gifts of your appreciation for our genius. However, sometimes gifts can be perplexing, especially when they have no return address, and no note, and don't make any sense. You'll see what i mean.

This week we'll give you the lowdown on the latest update for Dungeons and Dragons Online, some info about a game that's sure to distract your younger brother long enough for you to smash his piggy bank, and how you can relive the first mission of Age of Conan through an episodic porn series. Yes i'm serious. This is what happens when worlds collide. This is..

The MMO Report was delayed to Friday again this week, but for good reason. Age of Conan has seen one of, if not the most successful launches in video game history. The hype surrounding this title in the MMO community has been beyond what we've seen in recent memory. But we all know what can happen when a game's bark is worse than its bite even before it's actually on store shelves.

So we decided to give you this, our exclusive Age of Conan special. We got the chance to sit down with Jason Stone, a game designer from Funcom who worked on Age of Conan to find out how the game is separating itself from the pack. With details on the combat system, massive PvP action, and their unique anti-greifing prison system that will be folding into the game soon after launch, Jason gives you all the information you need to make an informed decision as to whether you're the type of barbarian Hyborian is looking for.

Plus we got an awesome new set, and that's way more important.

So shine your battle axe, put on your helmet, and watch out for innocents in the path of your backswing. This is...

The MMO Report like to keep you guessing, especially about which day our videos go up.

Actually, if we're being truthful, Casey had another obligation this week. If you watched Attack of the Show this week, you might have caught a glimpse of Casey reading Kevin Pereira his lines through an ear-piece while he hosted the show blindfolded. Obviously this was a very important task, so we had to hold back the reigns on his epicness for an additional day. We apologize profusely.

But to make up for it, we have a great show. Small details about the Warhammer 40,000 MMO were leaked, Age of Conan is setting itself up to be the WoW killer everyone has been waiting for, and Casey makes some demands for his upcoming birthday. I got him a Barnes and Nobles gift certificate last year and I still can't turn my head all the way to the left. Don't make the same mistake I did. So sit back with a frosty mug of mead and enjoy yourself. You deserve it. This is...

This week's edition of the MMO Report is very special. We'd like to tell you why, but it's much better to be surprised, don't you think? I'll give you a hint, it has something to do with Casey's favorite activity. No, not that one, the other one.

The stories in this episode range from news about the forthcoming Champions Online, to Codemasters expanding their business, to how the LEGO Universe economy will function. Hopefully well, we all know how unstable those LEGO financial institutions are. One swift kick from your older brother and the entire infrastructure comes tumbling down, and I'd rather not have to deal with bailing out LEGO Bear Stearns.

So check the numbers, look to the future, and admit you've lost (you know who you are). This is...

So guess what? Last week we put up The MMO Report on Thursday instead of Friday, and we got more hits. So, big surprise, we're gonna do it again! And again and again! Until we get a million viewers. And then we'll run for congress.

Until then, please do enjoy this week's installment of Casey's knowledge, lulz, and sex appeal. We'll discuss Lord of the Rings Online's first year in the open, what exactly happened to the Pirates of the Burning Sea servers that were put to sleep, and we introduce a new segment in our show that's sure to tickle your internet funny bone. No, not that one, that would cost extra.

So put down GTAIV for 7 minutes, peel your sticky thighs off the couch, and watch this charming bit of internet and gaming culture. This is...

This week you may notice something a little different. No, I'm not talking about the hair you're noticing in places where there was no hair before. I'm talking about the fact that The MMO Report has let the balloon go up one day early. That means more raiding time, extra grinding, and an additional full day's worth of lulz.

In this episode you all get a special treat; some sneaky bastard was able to leak stills of Wrath of the Lich King onto the internet for your viewing pleasure. Yes, that Wrath of the Lich King. It's in the Alpha stage of development right now, which means you don't get to play it yet. Also, we'll give you a fair warning about Square-Enix's new user agreement for Playonline. Check your attic for chocobos watching you masturbate. This is...

Since we spent this week's episode schooling you on your roots, we decided to make sure you still had your weekly dose of MMO news. I mean come on, what would you do without us?

Realtime Worlds confirms their open-world MMO A.P.B. will be released in 2009. Why do I have a feeling no one will want to play as a cop?

Chunks Ahoy discovered a way to alter how food will effect you in World of Warcraft. I knew it was only a matter of time before the Tauren women resorted to bulimia.

Jumpgate: Evolution is trying to get your attention in the very first fifteen minutes of the game. Unless that means non-stop decapitations and running naked strippers, I'm not interested.

World of Warcraft China announced they reached a milestone of one million players logged on at one time. As it turns out, one million Chinese CAN be wrong.

GameSpot partners with Funcom to allow their members to compete in a PvP weekend on the Age of Conan beta servers. You already missed the registration date, so go hit your little brother with a battle axe all day instead.

Chronicles of Spellborn has been pushed back to a release window of Fall 2008. But they gave you some pretty screenshots to make up for it, so quit bitching.

Don't say we never gave you nothin'. Now go watch the D&D special again.

This week, we have a very special treat for you, our dedicated fans. Casey is something of a Dungeons and Dragons enthusiast, as you may have seen in his review of the 4th Edition ruleset he got to play a while back. Well this week we take you even deeper into the dark, lightless cave for an in-depth look at the 4th Edition, as well as the new online component, D&D Insider.

Why is this such a big deal? Well first of all, if you play MMOs then you must have history, if not at least appreciation for Dungeons and Dragons. None of the games we play today would exist without the meager beginings of pencil and paper and 20 sided die. Second, we got some exclusives in this interview. Not only are we the first media outlet to get confirmation of the first 8 classes in the new 4th Edition, but we also squeezed out a few classes that will be in the Second Player's Handbook that's releasing next year. Oh yeah, we're just that good. You won't find this in-depth coverage anywhere else.

But don't worry, we still got you covered on MMO news. Check out the stories we would have talked about this week right here.

So clear off the kitchen table, pull your chainmail out of the closet, and unsheath your +20 broadsword. This is...

a very special MMO Report.
