8-Bit Glasses: Nugget From The Net

If you are trying to find new ways to geek out your wardrobe, you might want to check out these 8-bit eyeglasses. For a whopping 198 Euro you can be the nerdiest guy or gal on the block. Created by Dzmitry Samal, a Belarussian designer based in Paris, these glasses have been made to, "reflect society's fascination with an informal aesthetic." The eyewear comes in two models, 6dpi and 5dpi, but according to the site we couldn't find if they can be made with certain prescription lenses.

I'm all for questionable fashion choices, but I must say these just aren't doing anything for me. What about you? Would you shell out 198 Euro for a pair of these glasses?

Megan Lara, illustrator and just plain "huge nerd who loves to draw" has dumped a load of adorable right in our collective laps with a nouveau art rendition of our favorite furry friends Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails. Leah has been going "Awww!" all day over it.

Realistic Sonic, Knuckles And Tails -- Nugget From The Net

I would suggest you check out Megan's full post about it, and keep an eye on Threadless when the shirt becomes available. Or you can just try to catch me on the sidewalk when I get my hands on one and try to bribe me for it.

Morning Hangover: Videogame Fashion -- Best Dressed Character?

The Royal Wedding between Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton was this morning, and I must admit I was pretty excited to see who Kate's dress was going to be designed by. I'm sure most of you were just  as obsessed as I was, so let's run with this fashion idea and brainstorm our favorite videogame outfits. I really love what Harley Quinn wears in Batman: Arkham Asylum, but when it comes to flexibility, comfort, and something that looks damn cool I have to go with Ezio's outfit in Assassin's Creed 2 as one of the coolest videogame costumes ever. What about you, do you have any character costumes that you just absolutely love? Let's hear em.

Portal 2 Merchandise: In Game Hats, Real Life T-shirts

Portal 2, the physics bending puzzle game is finally out and its developer Valve has released a slew of Portal 2 merchandise both in-game for PC gamers and IRL with a variety of new Portal 2 related items like t-shirts and posters in their Valve Store. The stuff in the actual store looks very nice and my favorite shirt is definitely the "Three Turret Moon" t-shirt, it's delightful and I've ordered seven.

But what's even more interesting is the in-game store for PC gamers where microtransactions allow players to deck their multiplayer bots ATLAS and P-body out in new skins, accessories, gestures, and of course, hats. Trading hats in Team Fortress 2, another Valve title, has become almost like an underground marketplace at this point. Players spend as much time playing TF2 as they do trading hats to turn a profit. I doubt Portal 2 will follow the Team Fortress 2 model as Portal 2 isn't primarily a multiplayer game like TF2 is, but it's still interesting to think about as future Portal 2 DLC comes out.

A Geek's Guide to Fashion: Tips and Trends for Nerd Fashion with MyStyle's Expert Sydne SummerIt’s 2011 and there’s no better time than the new year to reevaluate your entire life, including how you dress. As geeks, sometimes it’s hard to look stylish and represent your roots at the same time. It’s easy to fall into the trap of free t-shirts and ripped jeans, but now it’s time to look more like a productive member of society and that’s where we come in.

We talked to MyStyle Editor Sydne Summer and asked her for advice about how you can look stylish without sacrificing your inner geek. Take a look at these geek fashion tips and trends for 2011!

G4: What are some current trends in men’s fashion?

Sydne Summer: This year, men's fashion followed in a similar path as women's: plaid, leather and military were huge on the runway.

G4: Most geeks are a little broke, are there any tips for extending their fashion dollar?

Sydne Summer: Try shopping at vintage or thrift stores. Retro clothing is making a huge comeback and you can get really cool button-downs, jeans and jackets for cheap. Just make sure you wash the clothing before wearing them. Some stores can leave a musty scent on clothing and it's not attractive.

Tim Schafer To Be Guest On Late Night With Jimmy Fallon On October 2

To gamers, developers are like rock stars. We just can't help it. They seem larger than life creators of entertainment we love and connect with. Arguably, no one fits this role better than Brutal Legend creator and all-around interesting guy, Tim Schafer. The founder of Double Fine, Schafer has a reputation for bringing a comical edge to the projects he touches and also an attention to detail and quality that is unmistakable.

That's why at this year's IndieCade, right here in Los Angeles, he will be honored with the 2010 IndieCade Honorary Trailblazer Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Though it may sound like it was made up by Derek Zoolander, the 2010 IndieCade Honorary Trailblazer Award for Lifetime Achievement is real and is designed to "Recognize Pioneers of the Independent Game Development Community" and Schafer seems like just the right guy for the occasion.

Justin Onion RingI have a confession to make. TheFeed is written and staffed by 13 year-old girls. We pretend to be crusty old dudes who care about video games to fool you. But there's one subject that we cannot lie about: Teen sensation Justin Bieber!

At the mere mention of Justin's name, "Sterling McGarvey" (real name: Ashley) screams and throws confetti and "Jake Gaskill" (real name: Tyfffany) silently cries.

I'm letting you in on the truth because Madison Klepek, Taylor Pfister, Starburst Eckstein, and the rest of TheFeed crew want to warn you about an evil facebook group.  A G4 reader sent our webmaster a link to a facebook page called "Can this Onion Ring get more fans than Justin Bieber?"

Who could possibly prefer a mere snack to JUSTIN? I mean, the onion is kind of cute and it can dance, but it's no Justin Bieber.

Right now, the Onion Ring has 1,215,000 fans and Justin Bieber has 1,600,782 fans, so it's getting close! and we need your help: We urge you to not go to the facebook and add to the Onion Ring's fans!  Don't help put the onion ring over the top.

This is, like, rilly rilly important.  If the Onion Ring wins, Justin will cry, and tiny crystaline tears will glitter on His perfect eyelashes...oh, JUSTIN! (sob, weep, running from room)

How Zombies Brought My Girlfriend And I Closer (And Reminded Me Games Have A Ways To Go)

Today is George A. Romero's birthday. The father of the modern zombie is 70 years old today. Romeros is best known for having created Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead and Diary of the Dead, and thus having invented modern horror. You wouldn't have Left 4 Dead, or Dead Rising, or Resident Evil without Romero, kids,

To celebrate, FEARnet is being overrun with undead today. Check out what's going to be on the site:

  • Tributes to George Romero from horror notables Guillermo Del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth), Mick Garris (Masters of Horror), Max Brooks (World War Z) and others.
  • Video interviews with Romero and cast members of his groundbreaking “Living Dead” series of films.
  • Full-length, free streaming movies featuring the consequences of zombie-like outbreaks, including Mulberry Street, the aptly titled J-horror film Infection and David Cronenberg’s classic Shivers.
  • Zombie American, a short starring The Hangover’s Ed Helms
  • A Jobs of the Damned video lesson from Doug Jones (Hellboy’s Abe Sapien and the creepy Ice Cream Truck guy from Legion) on how to move like a zombie.
  • A review of the Kevin Hamedani’s post-9-11 political horror-comedy Zombies of Mass Destruction, part of this year’s After Dark Horrorfest.
  • Original zombie haikus penned by FEARnet site visitors in Romero’s honor, like:

slip, stumble, fall, rise
undead feet on icy ground
zombies hate winter

And to top things off, FEARnet will “tweet like a zombie,” retweeting zombie-related comments from horror fans and notables all day long. #Braaaiiiins!

Life Imitates Art: Grand Theft Burger King?[Update: 1:55 PM]: Chick Fil' A is somewhat better than Wendy's, but not as good as In N' Out Burger. We apologize for the misunderstanding.

This post has little if anything to do with video games, but I imagine you'll all have salient points to make on the subject any way. That subject: Fast Food.

Below you'll find a list of the best fast food places in the country. In order of goodness. Rule: Has to have a drive-through or it doesn't count.

1) In N' Out Burger: If you don't live on the West coast, your life is infinitely less awesome because you cannot partake of the majestic Double Double from In N' Out Burger. It's really in a different league from any other fast food place on earth.

2) Wendy's: The burgers are square. The shakes are thick. Seriously, what can you complain about?

3) White Castle: I've only eaten at White Castle at the end of lo-o-ong nights (if you know what I mean), so this is not an "objective" opinion, but damn those sliders are amazing, and I can eat about 600 of them.

4) Taco Bell: I don't know why I like this food. Objectively, it's terrible, and yet, when you eat some, you need more. And More... AND MORE. I think they put heroin in it.

5) Long John Silver's: Okay, this isn't really the best fast food place, but I wanted to remind you it still exists. Ditto Orange Julius and Arthur Treechers.

This post has caused heated internal discussion over here at G4. TheFeed's Frank Meyer threatened to punch me out for not including Waffle House, while Andrew Pfister is shaking his head in pity and disgust that anyone would eat at any of these terrible roach-houses. What do you think? Good list, or are we totally off here?

Record of Agarest War Limited Edition Creeps Me Out

Until this morning, Record of Agarest War was totally off my game radar. The Japanese strategy role-playing game hasn't been released in the States, and, quite honestly, it has the least memorable title I've ever heard. But it does, apparently, have one unique thing going for it: Along with the strategy, players can engage in a dating sim with the game's female characters and create new characters if the "relationships" are successful.

That's pretty creepy. But it's not half as creepy as the Record of Agarest War "Really Naughty Limited Edition." Get this; it comes with:

  • 26″ x 20″ Yearning Ellis pillowcase (pillow not included)
  • 8½” x 10½” Sensual Vira-Lor mouse pad
  • Record of the Agarest War Soundtrack
  • Naughty Collector’s Box "to protect your girls"

So a pillowcase emblazoned with the likeness of a main character and a squishy, boobie-mouse for all your... needs, I guess. The thought of a dude hugging an anime girl pillow and resting his sweaty wrist on some fake boobies fills me with a terrible dread and sadness. But hey, it's rated T, so it can't be that bad, right? If you're curious about the gameplay, check out this video:

Record of Agarest War The Really Naughty Limited Edition »

This is only for the 360 version of this game, and it's supposedly going to be release in the 2010 for the 360 and PS3.

I'm going to go wash my hands now.
