The PSA mixes live action with illustration and high tech CG animation, and warns about deforestation and the dangers of global warming.

iTunes Goes Latin

Posted November 1, 2006 - By Frank Meyer

Today, Apple Computer Inc. launched a new store within iTunes called....wait for it... iTunes Latino!

The station features Latin music, music videos, television shows, audiobooks and podcasts.

It all would sound so modern and high-tech, except for...um, audiobooks? Why don't y'all stick some digitized 8-tracks up there while yer at it.

Troubled rapper DMX is launching his new clothing lines soon, the DMX and DMX Signature collections. The line includes designer apparel, footwear, head wear and outerwear, and will border on the "rough edge of hip-hop mixed with the practicality of the no nonsense, no frills clothing that active and rugged men want."

The line features fabrics like denim, leather, cotton and fleece, and will be available for purchase at his concerts, specialty stores and from various online retail sites. You know, the concerts that he beats the soundman up at.

DMX is also launching an e-commerce site to go along with the line, which hit in stores nationwide in 2007.

X is also in the planning stages of launching a new apparel line for dogs. I sure hope it's called DMX's Ruff Ruff Wear!

Exclusive: Video of Perez Hilton Bashing Jared Leto
& Audio Of Jared's Anti-Blog Rant

Well, it all started with an innocent interview with actor-turned-pop-star Jared Leto about his band 30 Seconds To Mars. Leto was nice enough to chat with TheFeed about the group's new album and newfound success in the music world. Towards the end of the interview, however,?I musta touched a nerve because when I asked him if his band blogged from the road, he went off on a tangent about how much he hated blogs and bloggers.

Who knew?

Within days of the interview running on TheFeed, the story got picked up everywhere and all of a sudden Leto?was at war with the blogosphere.

Things heated up this week when Leto got into a scuffle with a Stereogum writer at the MTVwoodies event over his comments. Then?Perez Hilton jumped into the fray, commenting? about Leto's anti-blog rants on camera to G4 last night at the Gears of War premiere party.

Boy, who knew TheFeed was such a lightning rod for controversy!

Watch the Perez Hilton video here:

Oh yeah, for anyone that wonders if Leto's comments were taken out of context or altered, here is an excerpt from the interview.

Plus,?TheFeed asked hip hop production team Messiaz?to put a beat to this madness. So enjoy the Messiaz Sudden Death Remix?of Jared Leto's comments!

MelodicRock.com is reporting that Van Halen will likely tour in 2007 with original singer David Lee Roth.

As a Van Halen/Diamond Dave insider?myself (Don't believe me? Click here,?here, here?or here), I can attest to the fact that my sources are confirming this as true, and add that Eddie's son Wolfgang will be the bassist instead of Michael Anthony. Word has it that Eddie, brother Alex and Wolfgang have been rehearsing at Eddie's house, focusing on the older, Roth-era material. Apparently, Wolfgang has been diggin' through his dad's old music and realizing what many of us have know for years, that Van Halen with Roth on vocals KICKED MAJOR ASS!!! The fact that his son is keen on the idea of playing with Roth has suddenly opened up Eddie to the idea. A 2007 tour is being rumored to be in the works.

During Eddie's recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, he confirmed that a new VH lineup would include his son and that he was open to working with Roth again.

Wow! It's as if I am writing this 20 years ago!

After five years of being back in the fold, Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor has left the band. A statement on the group's Web site said the relationship with Taylor had become "unworkable."

"The four of us have dissolved our partnership and will be continuing as Duran Duran without Andy," Aa statement from the band read. "We have reached a point in our relationship with him where there is an unworkable gulf between us and we can no longer effectively function together,"

Can a Power Station reunion be far behind? A tour to promote the re-relase of his solo album, Thunder? "Don't Let Me Die Young" anyone?

Foxy Brown Nailed & Guilty

Posted October 25, 2006 - By Frank Meyer

Troubled rapper Foxy Brown was sentenced Tuesday to three years probation for a fight with two Manhattan nail salon employees.

Not again!

Foxy attempted to withdraw her guilty plea but the Manhattan judge said the agreement was legitimate and laid down the sentence anyway. She claims her previous lawyer told her that she would go to jail unless she agreed to the deal.
Brown pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault charges in August for kicking one employee and smacking a second worker in the face on Aug. 29, 2004, in an argument over payment for a manicure at Bloomie Nails.

Street Fury Season 3 Sneak Peek:
Big C cruises (literally!) around the ports of Miami and hits a mega-party!

The former editor of self-proclaimed "hip hop bible" The Source just got awarded $14.5M from her lawsuit with the magazine over her firing and sexual harassment.

A federal jury in Manhattan yesterday ruled that the rag and its two founders, David Mays and Raymond "Benzino" Scott must pay $14.5 million to Kimberly Osorio, who described a "raunched-out workplace where executives watched porn, smoked pot and called female employees ?b------.'"

The jury needed only four hours to find that Osorio was fired in retaliation for complaining about the environment at the magazine. They also said that Benzino defamed her during a radio interview when he accused the single mom of bed-hopping with hip-hop honchos.

Geeeez, talk about your old fogies! Sting is not just saying that he thinks today's music is lame by yesteryear's standards, but "yesteryear" to him is the friggin' 16th Century!!!

Yes, the former Police frontman told a German newspaper that he prefers singing songs of Elizabethan lutenist and composer John Dowland to the contemporary rock music of today.

So it's no surprise that his new album, Songs from the Labyrinth, is comprised of Dowland lute music. Well, I guess it is a surprise if you ever thought of Sting as being a rock ?n' roll guy, kinda hip, or at least not a complete and utter bore.

So...um, surprise!
