Aliens Colonial Marines

Sega and Gearbox Software release Aliens: Colonial Marines on February 12, 2013, but it seems that there will be plenty more Xenomorph action to come in 2013 based on a DLC Season Pass product listing (via CVG). GameStop and Green Man Gaming both have product listings for a Season Pass priced $26.99 (discounted from $29.99), though Sega hasn't yet confirmed anything relating to post-release plans.

The identically worded listings promise four downloadable content pack releases to be released between March and "summer 2013," with Season Pass owners enjoying a 33 percent discount off the total cost of the four individual packs together. The listings also hint at what to expect, with "campaign content, additional multiplayer maps, new modes, character customization, and more."

BioShock Infinite "City In The Sky" Gameplay Trailer »

Our last peek at BioShock Infinite came in the form of a trailer disguised as mini-documentary on the floating city of Columbia, but this latest one follows a more traditional path. Irrational Games' City in the Sky trailer is your basic, pre-launch runthrough of the story (as we currently know it) and key gameplay elements.

Of course, nothing in BioShock Infinite is really basic. From riding the Sky Line to Vigor-induced powers to your constant companion in Elizabeth, the narrative-heavy game feels like a BioShock adventure through and through. The wait won't be much longer. Infinite finally reveals itself to all on March 26, 2013.

Flashback Due For An HD Remake In Flashback Origins?

Brace yourselves, cyberpunk fans. Flashback, the badass adventure game platformer from 1992, may be getting the HD remake treatment in something called Flashback Origins. The news comes from French site Gamalive (via Eurogamer), which claims that creator Paul Cuisset and his studio, VectorCell, is developing, with Ubisoft publishing.

Ubisoft has yet to confirm anything, but the teaser image above should certainly look familiar to fans of the original. The fact that Cuisset and VectorCell are handling development is a little bit alarming give the disaster that was 2012's Amy, but lessons can be learned. Besides, who knows Flashback better than its creator?

Assuming the report is accurate, it's looking like the plan is to release Flashback Origins sometime in 2013 for download on PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam.

Black Ops 2

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 launched with built-in YouTube streaming support, and now Twitch.tv is getting in on the fun as well. A morning announcement reveals the new partnership between Activision and Twitch, with streaming support for multiplayer games, player webcams, and audio commentary coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC versions of the game (no Wii U, sadly).

It's not clear in the press release exactly when the new feature goes live, but the wording certainly makes it sound like the switch will be flipped soon. Those who wish to stream will need an active Twitch account of course; having a presence on Facebook and Twitter helps as well, as the feature will automatically update your feeds whenever you're streaming, provided of course that you allow it to.

The multiplayer beta for Crysis 3 launches today on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, and Crytek has a tutorial video that explains how it all works. It's an open beta, so all are welcome; the event will run from January 29 through February 12, 2013, ending a week before the game's February 19 release.

The Crysis 3 beta gives players the opportunity to sample two of the game's eight online modes, Crash Site and Hunter. Crash Site is a 6v6 point capture mode in which every carries the same equipment but defending teams get to grab a shield. Hunter is a variant on infected/zombie modes, with a pair of Nanosuit-equipped Hunters chipping away at a larger team of C.E.L.L. Operatives while each downed C.E.L.L. respawns as a Hunter.

For more on these two modes, check out our Crysis 3 multiplayer hands-on.

Mass Effect 3 DLC Teased In Screens

BioWare seems to be hinting that fans have more Mass Effect 3 DLC to look forward to. Executive producer Casey Hudson and producer Michael Gamble took to Twitter yesterday (via Joystiq) to post a pair of new images clearly marked with the game's logo and some appropriately cryptic comments that reveal nothing but suggest much (second image posted after the jump).

The last Mass Effect 3 DLC, Omega, was released in late-November 2012. Not long after the story DLC's release, a BioWare forum post from designer Jos Hendriks (via Eurogamer) confirmed that "it's all hands on deck" for the Omega follow-up, with the full writing team of eight collaborating on something. Presumably a larger something than previous Mass Effect 3 DLC releases have offered.

BioShock Infinite "Columbia, A Modern Day Icarus?" Trailer »

Irrational Games has some more to reveal today about the floating city of Columbia, compliments of the latest trailer for BioShock Infinite. Entitled "Columbia: A Modern Day Icarus?," the two-minute clip runs through the origin of Zachary Comstock's floating city and offers an impression of how it is perceived by those who live on the ground.

There's not much in the way of gameplay to see here, as the trailer is more focused on setting up a basic level of knowledge about Columbia. Fans will have an additional opportunity to learn more about the city in the sky when the prequel novella -- BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt -- arrives on February 12, 2013. The game follows slightly more than a month later, on March 26.

Ubisoft Announces Assassin's Creed 3 Season Pass; “The Tyranny of King Washington

The full title for episode one (out of three) is actually The Tyranny of King Washington: The Infamy. The DLC is confirmed for release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

The episode opens with Connor Kenway awakening from an upsetting dream only to discover that the United States of America has embraced monarchy rule and crowned a king in George Washington. Connor immediately sets out to bring down the king and his rule, bringing freedom to the young nation. The press release notes that all AC3 DLC will be available for Wii U, but there's no mention of a release date yet for that platform.

Episode one will cost $9.99 / 800 MS Points a la carte, though all three episodes are also included in the Assassin's Creed 3 Season Pass ($29.99 / 2,400 MS Points).

Crysis 3 "The Nanosuit" Gameplay Trailer »

Crysis 3 may not hit stores until February 19, 2013, but you'll be able to take it for a test run several weeks early thanks to the launch on January 29 of the game's multiplayer beta. The beta will offer two of the game's eight modes -- Crash Site and Hunter -- and a look at the New York Feed, which EA describes as "a brand new in-game social feed that will showcase the accomplishments of gamers and their friends while offering dynamic challenges to complete."

The beta will run from January 29 through February 12, and it will be available on all platforms that the game is being released for (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC). Electronic Arts and Crytek also released a new Nanosuit trailer that is separate from the beta news, offering an extended look at some of the story-driven campaign's big moments. Check it out up top.

Aliens: Colonial Marines "Kick Ass" Trailer »

I've got two words for you, Aliens fans: power loaders. The latest trailer for Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines at last offers official confirmation that power loaders will be a thing that players can take control of. We had previously seen them pop up in game footage under the command of NPCs and it seemed only natural that they'd be usable, but Gearbox had yet to confirm it.

Well consider it confirmed. Just take a peek at the last few seconds of the trailer for your proof. It looks like they come packing a built-in motion tracker that is always visible in your HUD. Neat-o. Beware though: there's a bit of NSFW language here. Aliens: Colonial Marines hits stores on February 13, 2013.

BioShock Infinite "Industrial Revolution" Gameplay Trailer »

The latest BioShock Infinite trailer is all about showing off the bonus Industrial Revolution Pack content that comes with pre-ordered copies of the game. More precisely, you get a bunch of gameplay clips interspersed with screens detailing each piece of content.

The Industrial Revolution Pack includes three in-game gear items, a new feature for BioShock that effectively takes over the role of the first game's Gene Tonics. Players will also receive $500 worth of in-game currency, five lock picks to start with (very useful), and the Industrial Revolution puzzle game "which unlocks stories of Columbia and allows players to pledge their allegiance to the Vox Populi or Founders through Facebook."

Just hit play and watch the footage. That's what you're here for.

Capcom's Resident Evil: Revelations isn't going to be exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS for much longer. The publisher confirms that the portable survival horror adventure from 2012 will be coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC platforms on May 21, 2013.

The game will feature improved graphics, and Infernal Mode difficulty, and a new enemy "that changes the tempo of the game in a big way," according to Siliconera. Raid Mode will also return with some added improvements, including new playable characters (Hunk is named specifically), new weapons, and new customizable parts.

Check out the reveal trailer up top for a peek at the HD makeover.

The only thing you need to know going into this trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's Revolution trailer is that it features Peter Stormare and a wood chipper. If the reference doesn't make sense to you, then clearly you need to see Fargo. Go on. We'll all wait.

The trailer is pretty light on gameplay, instead going for funny with the serious, thickly accented Stormare presenting himself as the Replacer, someone who can take over your life while you devote your time to Call of Duty. The birthing scene is the best. Who WOULDN'T want Peter Stormare by there side on such a memorable occasion?

The Revolution DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 comes to Xbox 360 next week on January 29, 2013, with other platforms to follow at an unspecified future date.

BioShock Infinite To Be Preceded By Prequel Novella

BioShock Infinite hits stores on March 26, 2013, but you'll be able to spend some time in Columbia a bit earlier than that thanks to the just-announced prequel novella, BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt. The e-book-only release heads to the Amazon Kindle store on February 12, 2013 for $2.99, though it also comes free with Amazon pre-orders of the game.

“Since we first announced BioShock Infinite, our fans have asked for more information about Columbia and the complex cast of characters that inhabit the floating city,” writer Joe Fielder said in a prepared statement. “After reading the e-book, players will have a better understanding of BioShock Infinite’s world, the struggle between its factions, and the motivations of key characters, like rebel leader Daisy Fitzroy, without spoiling the mysteries of BioShock Infinite.”

Sounds cool. Have you locked in a pre-order yet? Will this development get you there?

Dead Space 3 Preview: Frozen Space-Terror Is Better With Friends

As review playthroughs begin for Visceral Games' Dead Space 3, word has emerged that the game continues publisher Electronic Arts' trend of building microtransaction opportunities into its releases. Dead Space 3 does so within the game's new weapon crafting system, with players able to enhance their designs either by seeking out scrap materials or by spending actual dollars, according to Eurogamer.

As associate producer Yara Khoury told the site, "You can buy resources with real money, but scavenger bots can also give you the currency that you can use on the marketplace. So you don't have to spend [real world] dollars." There's no word on how much this content will cost, though the news has left some -- such as Destructoid's Jim Sterling -- with a sour taste. Will you pony up real money on top of your $60 purchase for an easier time in the game?
