Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies Mode Screens Shamble Forth

The coming of a new Treyarch-developed Call of Duty game can only mean one thing: more Zombies. The mode has come a long way since its inception as a bonus unlockable in Call of Duty: World at War. Map pack releases wrapped a fictional universe around the wave-based survival mode, with Call of Duty: Black Ops taking things further using an elaborate series of Easter eggs.

Now, Black Ops 2 arrives on November 13, 2012 with an even bigger take on Zombies. Survival returns, but it's joined in the new game by Grief, an adversarial multiplayer showdown, and TranZit, a story-focused mode in which players explore an open world as they fend off the brain-munching hordes. There are still many questions about how this new take on Zombies will work, and while we don't typically go for email Q&As here at G4, we couldn't resist this opportunity to pepper Zombies lead Jimmy Zielinski with questions about what to expect.

Read on for our deepest look yet into what the new Zombies mode looks like and how it continues to service the passionate community of fans that has formed around it.

The interactive Assassin's Creed 3 trailer below allows you to choose Connor's adventure as he makes his way through the bloody battle of Bunker Hill towards his target Major John Pitcairn.

It shows off  the diversity that's featured in Assassin's Creed 3, and by simply watching and following along, you can choose to make Connor go in for kills with stealth or muscle, and even choose the path, weapons, and attacks he'll use against the enemy.

Medal of Honor Warfighter

Danger Close worked on tuning and polishing Medal of Honor: Warfighter right up until the last minute, with the release of a day one patch alongside the game today. The fixes should be ready and waiting for download as soon as you fire up Warfighter for the first time, but Electronic Arts has posted the extensive patch notes online to let you know which issues and glitch you'll (hopefully) never run into.

Of most interest to multiplayer fans is a tweak that eliminates the possibility of "no scoping," in which snipers can take advantage of soft aim in multiplayer to score quick and easy one shot kills. The fixes span all categories, however, including campaign and multiplayer, specific weapons, menu navigation, graphics, and plenty more. Check out the source link for the full list.

Aftermath is the fourth expansion pack for Battlefield 3. It takes place in post-earthquake Iran, and comes with four new mid-sized multiplayer maps that are filled with carnage and debris from the quake. In the video below, Graig McLeod, Producer at Electronic Arts, gives us details about the maps, a new crossbow weapon, and a new game mode called Scavenger.

Nerdsourcing finds you the best crowd sourcing projects from Kickstater, Indiegogo, and other such sites, and brings them straight to your wallet. Give, help spread the word, or just find out what’s going to be the hot new thing in the future; nerdsourcing is there to help support the dreamers out there looking to make the impossible a reality or those looking for the next big thing an edge on the competition. Time is limited to fund these projects so don’t wait to long.

Star Citizen

Kickstarter has seen more than its fair share of space sims, thanks to the ever increasing demand of gamers to head out into space with blasters ready and cargo in tow. One of the biggest names in the genre, Chris Roberts – the creator of the Wing Commander franchise, returns with a new game that’s looking to be the new benchmark for space sims. The team launched their own site to raise money for the new game, Star Citizen, but they’re turning to Kickstarter to get the word out and raise a few bucks in the process.

From the footage shown, it looks beautiful. Everything is set in a large-scale environment that has you launching your small ships from huge space command ships. You don’t even need to be a part of these space battles, you can decide to take your ship and just be a merchant throughout the galaxy, and it’s all up to the player with how the game takes shape.

Reward: For $30, players can get a digital copy of the final game, 1,000 Galactic Credits, and exclusive access to the Alpha and Beta.

Guild Wars 2 Halloween Event

The Guild Wars 2 Halloween Event "Shadow of the Mad King" is now live for players to participate in. The event marks the first big update to the massively popular GW2, adding 80 new pieces of content, many of which revolve around a spooky four-act story culminating in a big Halloween event on October 31.

Shadow of the Mad King brings back the loony Mad King Thorn from Guild Wars, and the event will let players trick or treat, go on scavenger hunts, craft special Halloween-related recipes, and play through all sorts of Halloween-themed mini-dungeons and areas across Tyria. There are even themed events complete with achievements to partake in; the only thing missing is you.

Along with the Shadow of the Mad King, other additions to the game include a new mini-dungeon called Vexa's Lab, and other dynamic events throughout Fireheart Rise, the Plains of Ashford, and Timberline Falls. There are even new jumping puzzles, one of my favorite parts of the game.

Check out the Shadow of the Mad King trailer below, and then grab your candy bucket and log in for a frightfully good time.

BioShock Infinite "Beasts of America" Trailer »

This right here is how you want to start your week: with a shiny, new gameplay trailer for BioShock Infinite. Set to the strains of Nico Vega's "Beast," the minute-and-a-half montage offers up a picture of Irrational Games' work on the February 26, 2012 release.

The thing that strikes me most watching this trailer is the abundance of people. For all of its deranged Splicers, BioShock was a very solitary experience. Columbia compares to Rapture in the sense that it is -- or appears to be, based on what we know -- a dying metropolis, but it looks like the new story plunges you much more centrally into the throes of that death. That certainly seems to be the case based on what we know of the warring Vox Populi and Founders factions.

There's plenty more to pick apart in the trailer, but pay close attention to that first bit of footage. Is a lighthouse the entry point for Irrational's latest ruined paradise as well?

Call of Duty is never short on firepower. The explosive might of the menagerie of indomitable weapons available across the long-running series is not to be outmatched. From science fiction transplants to military mainstays, Call of Duty is host to weapons that do some serious damage. With Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on the horizon, what better time than now to take a look back at the best weapons available?

Lock and load. You're about to rack up the kills with our arsenal of choice.

Top 10 Call Of Duty Weapons - Everything You Need To Survive The Battle

Ray Gun

First appeared in: Call of Duty: World at War

This futuristic zapper made the scene in World at War, popping up just in time to thin out the advancing zombie hordes. Capable of one-shotting the flesh-eating beasts for several rounds in a row, the ray gun is also useful for nailing zombies and turning them into Crawlers to slow them down. Not only that, it's just awesome-looking. One might think it's out of place considering the setting, but it actually fits the time period quite nicely, what with the allure of the sci-fi weaponry and pulp novels floating around at the time. Getting the ray gun at random from the mystery chest was and will always be a welcome occurrence.

Planetside 2

Sony Online Entertainment confirms that its free-to-play, PC-only first-person-shooter PlanetSide 2 will officially launch on November 20, 2012 in an update on the game's official website. The closed beta has been ongoing for some time now, and the results were apparently strong enough that SOE feels confident in launching the game during this crowded holiday season.

For those who aren't familiar with it, PlanetSide 2 pits three factions against one another on a *massive* open world map, one dotted with bases and installations of various sorts that can be captured, held, and lost. The transition from closed beta to public release will introduce a few new elements, notably livestream capabilities, additional gear and vehicles, and a handful of new continents to wage war in.

I've tooled around the beta a bit myself, and I can't help but appreciate the scale of this thing. PlanetSide 2 is HUGE. Assuming a healthy community forms around it, the game will easily stand as the most grand-scale multiplayer shooter out there.

Assassin's Creed 3 Star Desmond Miles Is Into MMA, Apparently

Here we have what appears to be a screenshot featuring the Assassin's Creed protagonist Desmond Miles watching a mixed martial arts bout from the rafters of an arena. The image share comes from All Games Beta and it appears to be the reward for completing the Hacked History webgame at AssassinsCreed.com. I'm assuming it's the reward, anyway; All Games Beta links to the webgame, but that find the object puzzle is too tough for my early morning brain to solve.

Ubisoft has been very cagey on the subject of Desmond's role in Assassin's Creed 3, out October 30, 2012, from almost the moment the game was revealed. This is one of our few real looks at Desmond -- assuming the hooded figure IS Desmond, of course -- during the pre-release period, and it amounts to a real head-scratcher. What is he doing here? Why is he watching an MMA fight? Why is everything in Portuguese? Also, FYI: "Torneio" translates to "tournament" and "há mas para ver" translates to "there is more to be seen."

Share your theories below! And thank you commenters for the corrected translation!

Battlefield 3 Aftermath Premiere Trailer »

The next Battlefield 3 DLC pack from DICE is called Aftermath and it's coming our way on November 27, 2012 (for BF3 Premium subscribers on PlayStation 3), a new trailer confirms. Other platforms will follow in the weeks after, starting with Xbox 360/PC Premium subscribers on December 4, non-Premium PS3 users on December 11, and non-Premium Xbox 360/PC users on December 18.

Aftermath adds four new multiplayer maps to the game, all of them shaped by the aftereffects of an earthquake, as well as three new vehicles, ten assignments/dog togs, Achievements and Trophies, and the crossbow weapon. Also new with the pack is Scavenger, a multiplayer mode in which players start out with a pistol and must scavenge other killing tools from amidst the rubble.

Aftermath will be a free download for all Premium subscribers; non-subscribers are looking at a $14.99 price tag (1,200 MS Points on Xbox 360). For more, check out our Battlefield 3 Aftermath preview of the new Epicenter map. Here's a piece:

Epicenter is set in the Iranian capital of Tehran after a quake has left the city in ruins. On this and the DLC's other three maps, players will have to take on another team amidst semi-frequent aftershocks, rumbling both the screen and your controller as you try to line up your shots. Epicenter is set in the heart of the destroyed city, with the map built around a crossroad. Broken streets and buildings torn asunder provide plenty of added cover opportunities, so the crossroads layout doesn't necessarily mean that you'll exchange fire in a wide open central space.

For more, read on to our full Battlefield 3 Aftermath preview.

Christian Elverdam, Gameplay Director behind Hitman: Absolution, describes what players can expect when playing the Streets of Hope level in Contracts mode in the video below.

"We're showing different approaches on how you build Contracts," Elverdam explains, "Contracts are created by our players themselves, and they share contracts with each other and challenge each other to see who can do best."
