Nuggets From The Nets

Check out Nintendo's self-conscious commercial/comedy-video below, in which always awesome Joel McHale and Nintendo get together to discuss how to sell the Nintendo 3DS in a "viral" way.

So... what do you think? Funny or Not Funny?

Game Of Thrones Fighting Game Fan Art

I just finished watching the second episode of Game of Thrones so I headed over to Reddit and found this gem: A piece of Game of Thrones Fighting Game fan art. Sweet! You can check out a bigger version over at the artist, Dynamaito's Deviantart page. I'd probably pick Daenerys as my fighter. She'd get the best outfits, and she gets dragons. Win win!

Creating Pac-Man The Movie has been Steelehouse's mission on Earth for the past year. If you ask me, the team has succeeded with absolutely flying colors, as witnessed by their fan film featured below. Written by James Farr, "Pac-Man The Movie" gives all new meaning to little 'ole yellow sphere, Ghosts, and cherries. It's really well done, watch it!

Usually when gamers rap about video games, you wish they just wouldn't. But Dan the Bull is an exception. You'll want to check out his angry opinion on DLC in the video below for his jam called DLC PLC, I promise. Guy's got flow, you must admit.

Of course, if you'd rather listen to "real" rappers rap about games and tech, instead of gamers rapping, there's one cool, innovative source: G4's own regrettably discontinued web series Freestyle 101. Start with the great Del, then spend all day listening to the rest.

New York Times Article On Casual Gaming IS A Casual Game

The New York Times has published an article on casual gaming that is, in itself, a casual game. While the piece itself is an interesting, intelligent examination of why we, as a culture, seem to have suddenly been overtaken by little iPhone games and the like, the game contained within the page is crazy awesome.

Basically, you play as a space ship, and zoom around the article, shooting advertisements, pictures and anything else you like in order to rack up a high score. There's no real enemies, but as an illustration of the draw of "stupid games," it works.

Final Fantasy Characters To Showcase Prada Fashion Collection

Final Fantasy characters will be showcasing Prada's 2012 men's collection. For the record, I never, ever, thought I'd write that last sentence in a million years. Nevertheless, it's true. Square Enix has come together with Prada to show off Prada's new Spring/Summer men's collection as part of the 25th Anniversary celebration of the Final Fantasy series. Hopefully no Moogles were harmed in the making of these clothes!

“The Final Fantasy series is known for its creativity and innovation; so working with Prada, a renowned fashion house with such beautiful clothingwas a very exciting opportunity. The images we have been able to create together are vibrant and unique,” said Yoshinori Kitase, producer of Final Fantasy 13-2.

Only characters from Final Fantasy 13-2 will be featured, including Noel, Sazh, Hope, and female lead, Lightning. I'm not sure why they chose to go with Lightning instead of you know, a major guy in the game like Snow, but this announcement is weird enough that I think it's better to just not ask any questions.

Check after the break for pictures of Sazh, Hope, Noel, and Lightning in their new stylish outfits.

The song "The Dragonborn Comes" from Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has been the subject of many fan-made covers so far, but I think this new one warrants yet another visit to the well. As you'll learn almost as soon as you hit play, the sounds you'll hear are the work of one voice and one violin spread out over 120 overlapping tracks. Oh yeah.

The video that goes along with the music is... well... it's a little ridiculous. Someone definitely spent some cash on making this look good, but... I mean... look. There's a swordfight in which one of the combatants uses a violin bow as her weapon. Make of that what you will. It's fun though, and the music is great. It definitely brings a fresh arrangement to that familiar and oh-so-catchy tune.

The Legend Of Zelda Meets Daft Punk In This Epic Mashup

Can you imagine Link unsheathing the Master Sword as he's about to go up against Ganon for the final battle to save Zelda, with this music playing in the background? Or if Link was swinging from target to target with his trusty hookshot as he dodged the narrow grip of an enemy's ferocious teeth? It would be so epic!

That's why Robert Mangaoang's Daft Punk/Legend of Zelda above mash-up image is so cool. It features the Hero of Time, himself, wearing Guy-Manuel and Thomas' helmets, complete with heart and Triforce design on each visor. Complete with matching light-up shields! I love it, and if you do too you can purchase the design on a t-shirt or as limited edition print on Etsy.

To see the full image hit the break.

8-Bit Beer: Get Drunk On Old-School GamingI've got just the beverage for your next geek gathering on LAN party: 8-Bit Pale Ale, the brew that promises to deliver the pixelated fun of old-school gaming right to your refrigerator.

According to its manufacturer, 8-Bit Pale Ale is just like the games we grew up with, "spectacularly simple at first glance yet remarkably fun and complex when you get into it. Hop Rocket infuses the character of Austrailian grown Galaxy Hops into an American Pale Ale, giving a unique tropical, almost melon aroma in a classic American style."

Check out the 8-Bit site to pick up a six pack.

Most Mass Effect fans want to know more about the end of Mass Effect 3. On the polar end of that, I'd say no one wants to know what Shepard and Liara were like in high school. I mean this totally goes against the series cannon, and logic, but come on, Third Eye Blind!

There's a slick and shiny new trailer for "Aperture: Lab Ratt," an upcoming Portal-inspired fan film from Synthetic PictureHaus (via Kotaku). Unlike the usual fan trailer-as-short-film this one looks like it's actually happening. And it's pretty darn sweet.

Take a peek at the Synthetic PictureHaus website for a peek at a few other Aperture-inspired shorts. It's a fun site and it's filled with all sorts of nods to Portal-loving fans. We've got one or two of you out there, right?

Triforce Lamp -- Make Any Room A Light Temple

If your temple, dungeon, or bedroom needs some light, might I recommend this triforce lamp? The triforce shaped lamp has a 8-bit style frame and is nearly a foot long. I thought this was super rad, and if you're a Zelda fan too, it's a must buy. It's a little pricey, coming in at $95 before shipping, but if you start saving your ruppees now, you'll be set!

Have you ever wondered what the biggest viral videos on the internet would look like if they were recreated in Minecraft? YouTube user/channel Minecrafta2z did, and created an amazing video. You'll find it below -- Keyboard Cat, Sneezing Panda, Dramatic Groundhog, Badgers, Badgers Badgers and even Double Rainbow, made in Minecraft!

Soccer Fans Form Pac-Man: Nugget From The Net

Video games are an international language. The image above is from Milan's Champions League quarterfinal against Barcelona. Fans assembled a Pac-Man display that featured Pac-Man chasing a ghost in the colors of Barcelona's away uniform. The text on the banner reads "Let's eat them!"

Not bad, Milan fans! Although, the Pac-Man might have been the best thing at the game: It was a scoreless match due to Milan's shameless bus-parking and terrible pitch.

Video Game Soap Is Amazing, Gets Your Clean!

The controller you see above is not some weird third-party knock-off from China. It's a bar of soap.  That's right, it's soap molded to look like a freakin' controller. You can buy it at Digital Soaps on Etsy.

While being clean and gaming aren't usually associated in the popular imagination, there are many awesome, nerdy soaps and soap products available for sale, including cafeniated shampoos that look and smell like Mountain Dew, complete soap recreations of Gameboy cartiridges and a lot more. There's a few more cool pictures under the "Read More" tag, but you really need to go to the site to check out everything they have.
