Nuggets From The Nets

Pokemon is already sort of a fighting game in and of itself, but this video from YouTube user BlameTruth, entitled "THE GREATEST THING EVER" really takes Pokemon and fighting games to the next level.

We've already seen something like this before, in a different Pokemon Fighting Game video, but this one is new and improved (or shiny as we say in the Pokemon business).  The game basically meshes Pokemon and Street Fighter together to create one fighting game that I'd throw all of my pokedollars at.

Imagine if the Pokemon evolved as they got stronger, or if you could customize them like you can in the new Soul Calibur 5 ? Awesome, don't you think?

I'm basically demanding that you watch the Zelda: The Lost Oracle fan film featured below. It's an ode to previous, amazing Zelda games like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, but it also has its own flair and style that makes it truly a delight to watch. Plus it's less than a minute long, so you really have no reason, if you're a Zelda fan, to miss out on this. Watch it!

If the next Zelda game looks anything like this fan film, I'll be first in line to pick it up. What did you think of Zelda: The Lost Oracle?

Did you hear that? That's the sound of thousands of misunderstood teenagers with too much black eyeliner collectively embracing Portal 2. "Finally a video game that gets me!" All of this thanks to this video called "This is Aperture," a remake of "This is Halloween" from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas. Full disclosure, Jake "Sandy Claws" Gaskill found this video but couldn't post it to the blog since he's already pitching a merchandise deal to Hot Topic.

What do you think of This is Aperture?

Red Dead Redemption In Minecraft

Will I ever get tired of interesting Minecraft creations? It is unlikely. Like the one below, wherein Red Dead Redemption's town of Blackwater has been recreated in the blocky game.

You can download the map from Planet Minecraft, or check out a couple more pictures under the "Read More" tag.

Resident Evil: Revelations Box Art Typo -- Capcom Botches Packaging Once Again

Unfortunately for Capcom, it seems as though the company has mistakenly botched the Resident Evil: Revelations box art packaging. The company accidentally put Resident Evil: Revelaitons on the spine of their upcoming Nintendo 3DS game.

I'm not going to say that I never make typos. In fact, many of you point them out to me on a daily basis. But this is a game that has already been sent out to retailers as it has a February 7th release date, which means it's definitely too late to fix.

Links Of TheFeed: One Month Down

Has the first month of 2012 not treated you well? Do you need a little laugh to get you going? It’s OK, we’re here for you with another collection of links courtesy of the internet.  We’ve got awesome alternate cover art, Abraham Lincoln as a vampire hunter, and a reimaging of the opening scene form Star Wars!

  • Arbraham Lincoln was a vampire hunter [FilmDrunk]
  • How Star Wars should have began [Blastr]
  • Would you buy this steampunk laptop? [Dvice]

Surprise! Someone has found a way to take geekiness to the next level , a thing that doesn't happen in this e-peen centric world of ours a lot of the time. Oh wait. Anyways, Shapeways, a store that lets people create real objects out of just about anything your mind can think up, is now selling a custom Fisher-Price clockwork record player record that plays "Still Alive" from Portal. The model and tune were all generated in Processing and it's made for the old clockwork music box.

Did you have an old school clockwork music box like this one, and if you still had it today which videogame related tune would you want to play on it? As for me, I'll stick to my iPod.

This is the most important news story of our times: Technology modder Ben Heck has created an Xbox 360 controller that extrudes Hot Pockets. This means your controller will dispense a hot pocket to you... and you won't have to use your hands at all to eat it.

As you can see in the video below, it's a low-tech solution, all-told, but still... it's a damn Hot Pocket extruder. This is the end of all civilization.

Inspired by Heck, I've begun working on a mod that is essentially a large bucket attached to a tube. The bucket is mounted onto the ceiling, above your easy chair, and The tube is placed down your throat and into your stomach. The bucket contains stainless steel blades that liquify Hot Pockets. While gaming, you pull a chain and delicious Hot Pocket slurry is delivered right into your stomach.  You don't even have to chew!

World's Largest NES Controller Shatters G4's Record

Late last week, engineering students from the Netherlands unveiled the world's largest NES controller. You can see it above! It's very, very large!

While G4 is proud of the Nintendo controller's creators (Benjamin Allen, Stephen van’t Hof, and Michel Verhulst) for creating the monstrosity, we can't help but be a little sad. You see, the Guiness record they broke may have belonged to G4's own Attack of the Show!

I don't generally like to work over the weekend, but when I spotted this video that Joystiq posted on Saturday, I immediately noted the link so I could share it with you today. We all know that Minecraft can be twisted and contorted to do some amazing things. Re-create a full game world though? For one of the best video games of all time? How often does that happen?

At least once, as you can see in the above video. The world of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been lovingly rendered in Minecraft's blocky form with amount of attention paid to seemingly every tiny detail. You can download an alpha version of the map and load it up in your own game to check it out for yourself, or just watch the above video and be completely amazed.

You know what indie game Minecraft has always needed? No, not "decent graphics," I'm talking about freakin' helicopters, man! Luckily, the modder community is on hand to satisfy my every desire and whim before I'm even conscious of it. So please enjoy the video below, which features a freakin' helicopter in Minecraft. And when you're ready, download the Minecraft helicopter mod yourself, right here, and fly around.

I think that the latest and greatest Skyrim Mod, Pony Dragon Mod, is able to encapsulate everything I love about life: Dragons and My Little Pony. Basically this mod, created by zdzichorowerzysta, turns all of the dragons in Skyrim in to Fluttershy from My Little Pony. Move over Macho Man, there's a new horse in town.

Check it out below.

If you want to, you can download the Pony Dragon Mod from Skyrim Nexus now.

iPhone Gaming Controller Prototype Is Impressive

We've all seen crazy peripherals for phones, gaming consoles, PCs, and just about everything else, but this iPhone gaming controller prototype is just, well, perfect. Creator Fabio Basile posted the idea on his Dribble account and since then the response for the prototype has been "amazing."

I honestly don't know how feasible this idea is, but if you could somehow easily add small, unobtrusive buttons to a phone that's used for gaming, I definitely see it as being a huge success.

The great part about Basile's idea is really how simple it is, and that there's nothing like a joystick sticking out of the phone that would make it hard to store the device in your pocket. What do you think?

I've seen countless Minecraft creations preserved in video form on YouTube since the Mojang game was first released a few years back. I tell you that so you can understand the import of the following statement: this is the most impressive Minecraft production that I've yet seen.

Forget the starship Enterprise, or in-game computers built to play rudimentary games, or anything like that. In the above video you can see the entire first match-up between Little Mac and Glass Joe from the NES classic Punch-Out!! perfectly recreated using what must be millions of Minecraft blocks (via Kotaku). I can't understate this: save for a color or two that might be off, this is a PERFECT re-creation.

If you've ever played any iteration of a Mario Kart game, then when you watch the following trailer for Mole Kart by developer Taomee, you might notice that the games look almost exactly the same. Mole Kart is an iOS title that's currently unavailable on the App Store, probably due to the complete obviousness that the company stole the idea from Nintendo, power-up boxes and all.

As shameless as it is, Mole Kart looks pretty fun, don't you think?
