Nuggets From The Nets

Dovahkiin-enthusiasts everywhere prepare to rock out with the most metal Skyrim music video ever. A group of Skyrim fans decided to make a metal version of the Dovahkiin song from The Elder Scrolls 5, and they topped it off with Skyrim themed music video. From the looks of it, they just happened to live in Winterhold. They must be college students. (GET IT?)

Portal Gun

The amazing Portal gun you see above is from toy manufacturer NECA (National Entertainment Collectibles Association), and isn't one of those one-off things. It will be available for purchase from various retailers sometime soon. The estimate is May.

The replica Portal gun is a 1X1 reproduction of the device from the game. It features blue and orange lights, and is limited to only 5,000 made.

I'm not sure what a "good" price is for this, but web offers I've seen have ranged from $124.99 to $206. I have a feeling these will be a lot more expensive on eBay a few months after the limited run sells out.

This is really neat. Back in the 80s and early 90s, adventure games were pretty much the most popular thing you could play on a computer. Sierra On-Line was arguably at the forefront with its various Quest games, many of which sprung from the minds of Ken and Roberta Williams. What we have here is a vintage featurette that explores what this evolving process of game development was like at the time.

Not only is the video itself old, but it's actually something that's been floating around on the Internet for a number of years. Thanks to Kotaku for shining a spotlight on it again. I'd never seen this before, but it offers a fascinating snapshot of a simpler time for games. One that, when you get right down to it, really wasn't such a long time ago. Oh how far we've come.

If you've never played a Quest game (Police, Space, King's, Quest for Glory, etc.), you should correct that. Collections are available for very little money and they'll run on basically anything with a hard drive, a mouse and a keyboard.

Face it: Angry Birds is what most people on earth think about when they think about video games. The trailer below is an amusing look at some of the possibilities of upcoming irritated avian simulator Angry Birds: Space, specifically, the idea that different levels will feature different gravity effects. Could be cool, no?

Anyway, the video is pretty funny.

G4 reviews editor Dana "The Chameleon" Leahy and I have a running discussion about whether it's possible to talk about games and nerdy stuff and be "cool."  I'm still not sure how I feel about the issue, but the below Pokemon Rap video tries very, very hard... does it succeed? Let us know in our comments section.

What happens when you reenact everyone's favorite N64 game in real life? You get chaos. And you get this video called "Real Life Goldeneye 64" by YouTuber Warialasky. In the video Mike tries out his new Goldeneye 007 64 mod only to learn life's greatest truth: nothing is more frustrating than trying to escort Natalya to safety.

You are in a dark room. You must escape. This is the premise for a YouTube video / interactive game. The videos are simple, a man in a dark room urges you to escape. You're given choices on how you want to proceed at the end of each video. It's basically a point and click adventure game. While this one may be simple, I think there's definitely potential here.Go ahead, try and escape.

The formula that Activision's established with the Call of Duty series doesn't seem to be going stale, but it's not without its critics. There are those who would like to see some changes to the modern warfare framework that the series has been using since 2007's Call of Duty 4.

That's where Call of Duty: Police Warfare comes in. It's a fan-made pitch trailer -- meaning you can disregard the voiceover's talk about this being an Activision thing; it's not -- for a downloadable multiplayer game in which players step into the boots of either an LAPD SWAT team or the criminals they're tasked with stopping. Neat ideas, even if they never happen.

Remember though: *this doesn't actually exist*.

The next Skyrim mod to get your knickers in a twist is going to be Skyrimball. The mod adds two of everyone's favorite DBZ characters, Goku and Krillin, to the game. Who am I kidding, no one's favorite character is Kirllin. (I'm partial to Chiaotzu and Tien myself.)

This mod is definitely a work in progress but considering Bethesda's official mod tools have only been out for a week, I'd say they are on the right track. We'll let you know when the mod hits the Steam Workshop.

If this mod is accurate, the final battle with Alduin will last 20 episodes before Alduin reveals he was only using 20% of his power.

I'm pretty sure that most of you played Skyrim last year. Even if you didn't, it was next to impossible to avoid features, interviews, lists and amazing "arrow in the knee" and "Fus Ro Dah" video hilarity. You also hopefully played Bastion, the digitally distributed action-RPG from Supergiant Games with a great sense of style and killer voice and music work, with particular props going to the game's narrator, Logan Cunningham.

YouTube user Egger3rd definitely played both games, and used that background to get creative with a cool machinima mash-up (via Destructoid) that you really ought to watch. It's a reinterpreted take on the Skyrim intro, with narration from Bastion voice actor Logan Cunningham. It's a great watch and, even better, it's only part one.

Links of TheFeed: Who Shot First?

This week's Links of TheFeed is not afraid of controversey. Hoping to put the debate to rest, George Lucas has addressed the famous "Han Salo vs. Greedo" arguement. Has the legenedary film maker changed his mind and granted Solo the first shot? Check out this week's Links of TheFeed to find out!

  • Did Han shoot first? [Blastr]

Well, this is weird. David Jaffe wants you to shoot Sweet Tooth's f%*king ice cream truck remotely from the comfort of your own home. That's right, the Twisted Metal director is holding a contest where you sign up for a chance to shoot the truck.

Over two days, this one truck will have over 100,000 bullets shot into it from users just like you. Isn't that...psychopathic? Maybe, but it's a fun stunt to get you to pre-order Twisted Metal. Before you sign up over at ShootMyTruck.com, watch this video of the psycho king himself, David Jaffe introducing the contest. There is a hell of a lot of David Jaffe language in the video, (a.k.a. NSFW). You've been warned!

Twisted Metal is out exclusively for the PlayStation 3 on February 14.
