Star Wars: The Old Republic Update 1.2 Rides In On The Back Of A Tauntaun

BioWare is finally launching the much-talked-about Game Update 1.2 for Star Wars: The Old Republic today, April 13, 2012, adding an expanded Legacy system, a new Operation, a new PvP Warzone, and various other bits to the popular MMO. The update will be officially live as soon as the servers come back online around 11am ET/8am PT.

Players who have stuck with SW:TOR all along will also be getting some special bonuses from BioWare. All of those who were active subscribers when v1.2 launched will receive a free Tauntaun Ram pet, which is pretty much the best news ever for a Star Wars fan. As an added bonus, anyone who had a level 50 character at the time the update launched will also receive a complimentary 30 days of play time in return for their loyalty.

World of Warcraft's Scroll Of Resurrection Revamped: Free Level 80 Characters For Everyone

World of Warcraft's Scroll of Resurrection has been revamped. The original scroll was basically Blizzard's referral program, a way of offering perks to people who quit World of Warcraft in the past in order to get them to re-subscribe. If the recipient accepted the scroll, then they got ten days of free playtime, and the person who sent the scroll got rewarded with a free month of game time.

The new-and-improved scroll provides players with a bunch of freebies, like new mounts, and it also allows the returning player to instantly level up to level 80. Not only that, but the scroll also supplies returning players with a free upgrade to World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, seven days of free game time, and free realm and faction transfers so that they can play with friends no matter what server or faction they're on.

Sending Scrolls to your friends is free, and if they choose to accept your Scroll and pay for 30 days of play time, you'll get a special faction mount as a reward. To send a Scroll of Resurrection while in World of Warcraft, open your Real ID friends list or guild roster, and any characters or account that are eligible to receive a scroll with have a button next to their name. If you click it, you'll generate an e-mail invitation to your friend, with the option of adding a personal message. You can also send a scroll via your Battle.net Account Management page.
