Do you want to watch more music videos, but can't find any to view? We've got just the things for you: VidZone, a new service coming soon to your PlayStation 3. Vidzone launches in early 2009 in European territories, and will allow you to choose from over 10,000 songs to listen to on-demand. You can make playlists too, and songs will be accessible via remote play on the PSP and will be purchasable as ringtones.

Also coming soon, on the PS3 tuneage front: A full music download service that will arrive for the PlayStation 3 and PSP later in 2009. Sadly, we don't know when/if Vidzone will show up in a America, but we'd put money on it happening before too long. You can't keep something as good as that bottled up in Europe forever!

The "actor's actor" will be joined by Kiefer Sutherland, who plays main character Sgt. Roebuck in the game. World At War is an FPS set partially in the Pacific theater during WW II. It features flamethrowers, Molotov cocktails, flame tanks, and much, much more.

Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest impression on us, and today's impression comes courtesy of Electronic Arts' The Littlest Pet Shop. This kiddy/girly title is a bit outside of our cone-of-interest--you can't kill anything--but we're going to buy it when it comes out in October for one reason only: The Nut Feast. One of the mini-games contained in this title is called Nut Feast, and we cannot possibly pass up a good nut feast!

(Okay, we're immature.)

One of the tentpoles of Sony's press conference at this year's Game Convention in Leipzig was upcoming PlayStation 3 game Heavy Rain. While we originally heard about the game at E3 2006, judging from the footage that was shown (soon to be available right here) a lot of work has been done on the game since then.

It's an intriguing game: Where most titles tend to amp up action and mayhem, Rain is more about mayhem of an emotional nature. According to the game's creator, David Cage, President of Quantic Dream, this game is going to be mature and emotional. Wow! What a concept! They wanted to create a different kind of gaming experience, centered on narrative and emotion. Gameplay details are scarce, but we know it follows a dark, mysterious story without supernatural elements, and players' choices actually affect the narrative in big ways. It's scheduled for a 2009 release.

So what do you think, Gamers? Could you be into a mature, emotional game?

If you were into the first four games and all of its satellite properties, you'll want to watch this extended trailer for Capcom's survival horror game, Resident Evil 5, from the Leipzig Games Convention. The game releases in March, 2009 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

And if you're from some kind of mutant race, we don't wanna hear about how this trailer discriminates against you because you're all getting killed. You're monsters! We're going to kill you anyway.

Fresh from Sony's Leipzig conference, Sony Online's subscription-free MMORPG, Free Realms, will also be arriving on the Playstation 3. The title will join its PC counterpart, along with DC Universe Online, to bring some massive-multiplayer goodness to Sony's Blu-Ray capable hardware. SCE Europe president David Reeves said in the release:

“This is an opportunity for SCEE and SOE to bring the best online experiences from PC gaming to the PLAYSTATION 3 universe, the result of which will certainly benefit PlayStation fans."

Free Realms, published by Sony Online Entertainment, will be available sometime next year. Check out the MMO Report to find out more about the game and stay tuned for more updates from Leipzig.

Something interesting must be about to happen at the Sony press conference, because they are blocking off the area and throwing everyone out, including members of the press and other Sony employees. Also, instead of being held in a lecture hall or a conference room where everyone could sit and see it, they're having their conference on the little bit of stage that protrudes from one end of their booth. Practical? Not exactly. Still, something good must be coming, right? I am, at the moment, the only blogger within the nylon ropes of the Sony area.

5:00 PM - It must be time for this thing to start, because there's a couple of Killzone 2 soldiers and a giant mascot from Buzz!  Coming to the stage. Also, a video encompassing everything Sony, including PS Home, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Buzz, Singstar, and what looks to be some interesting PSP innovations.

5:02PM - David Reeves starts things off by quoting "The Times They Are A-Changin." It's almost a challenge to writers and critics. The subject of this media briefing seems like it might be something along the lines of "don't write us off, yet." Promises that there are big announcements to be made here. Announcements that have been presaged all Summer long.

We're in a sort of mock theater environment at Activision's presser here in Leipzig, with a raised podium, and by the amount of people who were eagerly waiting to be let in a half-hour before it begins, this stands to be quite the Wednesday event here in Leipzig.

1:55PM - Tricia Helfer, voice of Black Cat in Spiderman: Web Of Shadows welcomes us to the conference. Then we get a trailer for the game, which seems to have a Venom takes over the world feeling to it. Also, Wolverine is in it, and it looks pretty darn awesome.

Then, we get a Guitar Hero: World Tour trailer, set to Lenny Kravitz' "Are You Gonna Go My Way?" Then, it's Call of Duty: World At War. Kind of like trailers at a movie. And, speaking of, we get a trailer for Quantum of Solace, which is sort of neat. Same one that's online, but it plays well here.
