The Best Gaming Aliens Take Us To Their Leaders

SETI, the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, may have recently been forced to shut down its Allen Telescope Array, but don't count the wily alien-hunters out yet. SETI is co-sponsoring a unique contest with Gamify that uses video games to help comb through the data they've collected.

SETI's now-shuttered telescopes have recorded a ton of radio signal data oiver the years, and while SETI has scanned the data looking for certain kinds of patterns that they think could indicate intelligence, there could still be evidence of outer-space transmissions in the data. Here's where games come in: SETI and Gamify would like to find a way to "gamify" the data search, to find a fun way for tons of people to go through the radio transmissions looking for evidence of outer-space intelligence.

OneTrueFan: Become G4tv.com's Number One Fan

Depending on your browser, you may have noticed a small new graphic at the bottom of G4tv.com today - it's the beta for OneTrueFan - a new way to show your love for G4TV and find other people who are interested in the same games and stuff that you are. As with many things in life (especially on the internet), its a popularity contest. Earn points by visiting often, reading lots of articles, sharing links and driving traffic back to G4tv.com.  But fan-ship is fleeting and the points you earn disappear after 14 days, so make sure to come back and show your love regularly. We'll look to offer prizes for top fans in the future if you guys are into it.

When you register, you automatically show up in the bar on pages that you visit, with your recent shared articles showing up in your profile flyout. We hope this is a great way to discover new content by checking out the flyouts of people on the same page as you. What you share is all on you; the control is entirely up to you.

OneTrueFan G4tv.com Newshound PatchYou can also earn custom patches on G4tv.com such as Newshound (for TheFeed), Attack of the Show-er and Around the Net, as well as Thanks for Sharing, Second Base (five pages in a single visit) and Commitment (30 days in a row at G4TV.com).  As time goes on, we'll release more custom patches, these will include game and event specific patches, and limited edition patches for things like E3 live streaming, and Comic-Con. You can view your patches at OneTrueFan.com, and in the future some of these will be available as real patches that OTF will send to you so you can have mom stitch them onto your boy scout uniform/jean jacket.

If you enjoy OneTrueFan, you can install the AddOn to your browser and see people on every site you visit.  If you don't like OneTrueFan, just click the "Hide OTF permanently" option in the settings flyout and you'll never see the bar again.

As always, let us know what you think and remember that you can simply click on "Hide OTF Permanently" in the option menu on the right side of the bar if you don't like it. OneTrueFan is still in beta and is constantly improving based upon user feedback.

Cityville

A legal fight may be building up in the video game world, but I'm not talking about EA and Activision sparring over Infinity Ward. Casual game maker Zynga is taking legal issue with other game companies using the "Ville" suffix with their facebook games.

Zynga has created six popular Facebook games -- CityVille, FarmVille, FishVille, FrontierVille, PetVille, and YoVille -- that have a few things in common. First, they seem carefully crafted to suck both your time and your money away incrementally, and two, they all end in "Ville." So Zynga seems to feel that other companies' "Ville" games are infringing on their trademark, or, as the kids might say, "cold bitin' they steez." (I apologize.)

Howard Stern Re-Ups ContractWe're big fans of "shock jock" Howard Stern here at G4, and have been very worried that our morning commutes would be sucky for the foreseeable future if Stern truly left the airwaves at the end of his current contract. Good news: Stern has resigned with Sirius/XM for another five years, so our daily dose of comedy/outrageousness/deep interviews with celebrities is safe and secure.

Reddit poster Contra3 is my new hero. According to him, his girlfriend cheated on him, and rather than crying, punching a hole in the wall, or experimenting with a latent furry fetish, Contra logged into Netflix. He used the service's movie rating service to populate the cheating woman's most-liked list with the following films about infidelity:

Netflix CEO Says Likelihood Of Nintendo Support Is

I love movies but hate DVDs. I think everything should be streaming, the second I want it, in 1080p high-def. Netflix is the greatest, and has just rolled out a plan for me: A streaming-only option that costs $7.99 a month.

There's always a catch, though. Netflix is also slightly jacking up the price of their other DVD plans. The single DVD at a time plan is going up from $8.99 to $9.99, and the three DVDs at a time plan will cost you $19.99 as oppose to the $16.99 you have been paying.

So everyone loses but people who strictly stream... if only more films and TV shows were available as streaming options on Netflix. I bat about .500 when it comes to finding specific movies and shows streaming on Netflix. How about you guys? Are you Netflix people?

Links Of TheFeed: Extremo GTL

I don't really count myself among the many who find clowns to be terrifying. Even after seeing Killer Clowns From Outer Space as a kid, they never really freaked me out that much. However, if I ever have kids, I won't let them within 10 miles of Extremo the Clown & his Never Never Van, as he might be the creepiest clown around. Good news though, you can get to know him a little better from a safe distance on FilmDrunk's podcast.
