G4 Web Exclusive

The internet has spent a lot of time talking about the Diablo 3 auction house already, and of course G4 is no different. On this week's Soapbox, Adam Sessler will weigh in on what he thinks real money transactions in-game could mean for the industry as a whole and what the future might bring if this turns out to be a success. Will you hand over your hard-earned cash for some epic loot? Or will you do it the old fashioned way and grind your way to greatness?

A lot of people around the office are excited for Assassin's Creed: Revelations, especially Adam Sessler. After hosting the Assassin's Creed panel at Comic Con 2011, Adam was reminded how much he enjoyed playing games set in historical times, rather than elaborate fantasy worlds. The joy of exploring a time and place that you know existed but can't quite understand yourself is a wonderful experience, and at least for The Sess, more enjoyable. What times and places would you like to see re-imagined in a video game?

Before there was World of Warcraft, there was Everquest. Before Blizzcon, there was Fan Faire. A couple weeks ago, Sony threw a huge party in Las Vegas to celebrate not only the still thriving Everquest community, but to also feature their other MMO games like DC Universe Online, which is getting a Green Lantern expansion pack. To top it all off, they also announced Planetside 2, the sequel to the MMOFPS that was way ahead of it's time. In this week's MMO Report we've got in-depth interviews with the people who make the games you still love to play or can't wait to get your hands on. Enjoy!

With Comic-Con 2011 quickly approaching, Adam had comics on the brain so he decided to spend this week's Soapbox talking about comic book video games.

Sure we all remember the travesty that was Superman 64, but now we have great examples of wonderful pulp to polygon adaptations like Batman: Arkham Asylum and the sequel Batman: Arkham City. Do you think comics are an untapped resource for great video game material? Or is the transition between mediums just too difficult to get right more than a couple of times?

As I'm sure you're aware, G4 is on the cutting edge of culture when it comes to combining naked ladies with gaming technology. When Xbox Kinect launched, we asked adult actress Kirsten Price to try it out. At E3 2011, Microsoft announced Kinect Fun Labs, a growing collection of tech demos for the motion control device, but neglected to explain how it will work with a naked lady, so we enlisted the great April O'Neil to give it a run through, and see how the new technology deals with boobies and/or dongs.

For Science.

There has been some controversy over the fact that Crysis 2 was removed from Valve's digital distribution service Steam. People have been speculating this has something to do with the fact that EA is about to launch their own digital service, Origin, and are attempting to back out of their agreements with Valve. No one knows for sure, including Adam Sessler, but that doesn't mean he can't speculate himself! In this week's Soapbox The Sess discusses the future of digital distribution and what he thinks may be going on behind the scenes.
