You may not be aware of this, but the past two days have been really hot in LA. I mean really hot. Damn near 100 degrees hot. So what's the best way to beat the heat? Laughter and education, of course! This week on The MMO Report the amazing Casey Schreiner will talk about Planetside 2's backstory being penned by award winning author Marv Wolfman, how Star Wars: The Old Republic will allow your companion characters to sub in for your raid buddies, and show off his fans' artistic talents in Uncle Casey's Mail Bag. Now crank the AC and get the weekend started a little early.

G4 Films Epictober Film Festival Logo

We (the royal "G4" we) are proud to announce something special coming up for you in a few weeks: The G4 Films Epictober Film Festival. If you've been playing along at home you've seen us bring you two excellent, videogame-related films this year: 'FOCUS' and 'Against the Wall'. Well we're not quite done yet, as we're going to be bringing you three more (short) films the week of October 24th as part of this year's Epictober celebration.

We've somehow managed to rope in former G4tv.com Creative Director and current hot-as-sh*t Hollywood Director Joe Lynch (Knights of Badassdom, Chillerama, Wrong Turn 2) to oversee the three films and he, in turn, has roped in three excellent horror directors. As we approach Halloween, this trifecta of terror will take on films inspired by Angry Birds, Mario Kart and Duck Hunt produced specifically for your enjoyment.

With Kinect Disneyland Adventures, the team at Frontier Developments (Kinectimals) is hoping to evoke and reignite in players, young and old alike, that indescribably magical feeling of visiting a Disney theme park as a kid. Things like strolling through Main Street U.S.A., grabbing a Mickey Mouse-shaped ice cream cone from a cart vendor, and waiting in line for hours at a time to ride Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, or the Haunted Mansion for the sixth or seventh time. It’s precisely these memories and the feeling those memories (sans the heat, annoying crowds, and ticket prices) elicit that Kinect Disney Adventures is using as its foundation, and what a strong foundation it is.

Below you’ll find some exclusive gameplay of a few of the game’s (and the park’s) most famous attractions. Sadly, there is no Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride included in the game, but I’m still crossing my fingers it will be added via DLC in the near future. For now, please enjoy some epic Disney action. And be sure to check back later in the week for our in-depth hands-on impressions.

Main Street, U.S.A. - The nervous system of Disneyland. The iconic structures, music, and signage are the first thing you see when you enter the park and the last thing you see as you leave. So that's why I can/do still picture them when I go to sleep every night.

With the leak and then official announcement of Cable Channels coming to the Xbox 360, no one's quite sure what to think of it. Will this create a new market, putting a dent in income of cable providers? Or is this just another gimmick to try and sell video game consoles to non-gamer households? Such is the topic of this week's Soapbox. Adam Sessler will look into his crystal ball and talk about the potential he sees in a one-stop-media-shop living inside your Xbox.

If you picked up Rage today you already know the game is incredibly beautiful with amazing combat and fantastic AI. What you may not know is, according to Adam Sessler, the game really drops the ball towards the end. That got The Sess thinking about how important it is to stay consistent during the entire gaming experience. On this week's Soapbox Adam discusses how an incredible experience like Rage fell short in the last few hours and why games need to be able to maintain a steady pace with not only the story, but the gameplay, combat, and world design.

With all the "Classic Collections" and "HD Remixes" coming out these days, we've been spending a lot of time playing games we lost years ago. Most of the time nostalgia takes over and we enjoy reliving the emotions we had the first time we played through them, but sometimes gameplay mechanics of a bygone era get in the way of our experience. Such is the topic of this week's Soapbox, where Adam talks about how amazing the ICO/Shadow of the Colossus Collection is, but explains how much harder it can be to play through today because of how gaming has changed over the years.
