Richard Alf, the co-founder of Comic-Con has died. The 59 year-old comic-book fan lost his battle with pancreatic cancer last Wednesday. Alf was the chairman for the very first Comic-Con in 1970. He even donated money to fund the first event. It took place at the U.S. Grant Hotel in San Diego, only one mile from where San Diego Comic-Con takes place every July. Alf left his volunteer role with the con long before it became the Hollywood spectacle it is today. He went on to open his own comic-book store, Comic Kingdom, in the 1970s.
