Website, BlackFilm is reporting that rapper (which, by default, makes him rapper/actor), The Game is a leading candidate towards landing the coveted role of B.A. Baracus (made famous by Mr. T) in the upcoming feature film reboot of The A-Team. The Game joins a rather long list of prospective candidates for the role, the most prominent of which, include rapper/actor, Common, rapper/actor, Ice Cube, and MMA fighter, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. (Pictured left to right, with The Game being in the third slot.)
Should he be cast, The Game would join (prospectively) Liam Neeson as Col. John "Hannibal" Smith and Bradley Cooper as Templeton "Face" Peck for the reboot film (currently set for a June, 2010 release.)
Who is the right person to play the role? There certainly are plenty of "fools" that need to be "pitied," and plenty of "predictions" of pain to be made. While B.A. may be a somewhat of an amalgamation of Mr. T's off-screen personality and his Rocky III character, Clubber Lang, he is nonetheless, the Hamlet of 80's "badass" stereotypes. (Which I guess would make Mr. T either Laurence Olivier or Kenneth Branagh.) There's mighty big shoes to fill, here!

Yet another '80s reboot is on the horizon. The network soon-to-be formerly known as The Sci-Fi Channel, will be giving us an all-new version of Alien Nation. (You remember -- the show with all the huge-headed, bald aliens covered in Mikhail Gorbachev spots, who had super-strength? Ocean water was their weakness, as it was like acid to them? Remember?)
Longtime fans of sci-fi drama may remember the short-lived, but poignant franchise. Launching with a 1988 theatrically-released film starring James Caan, it subsequently became a TV series on the Fox network. While lasting only one whole season, the show was eventually followed-up in the late 90's with five TV movies. The overall premise involved an Earth society living in the aftermath of the arrival of a giant spacecraft full of alien refugees who have escaped the oppression of their home planet with nowhere else to go. The aliens eventually assimilated themselves into American life, and set the show up to be somewhat of a vehicle for agitprop regarding a number of real life issues like immigration and inter/intra-cultural issues. (Think of it as True Blood, but with aliens.) The plot itself focused on a human detective in San Francisco named Mathew Sikes, who has been given an new alien partner named George Francisco (his taken "Earth" name.) Together, the duo fights crime (both human and alien) and adjust to each others' radically different styles and their own family issues. Despite the presence of aliens, it was as more of a police/morality drama.

In a recent interview with MTV, Samuel L. Jackson discussed his reprisal of the Nick Fury role for the upcoming Iron Man 2 (a part, which he has now finished shooting.) In a bit of news that may disappoint some fans, it seems that there actually wasn't much to tell. Apparently Jackson's portrayal Nick Fury will NOT see action of any kind in the new film. According to Jackson:
“We still haven’t moved Nick Fury into the bad-ass zone. He’s still just kind of a talker.”
This "rationing" of Jackson might have to do with the terms of the 9 picture deal he signed with Marvel films. (Pure speculation.) Perhaps, the idea was to have Nick Fury play a kind of "puppet-master" behind the scenes for the majority of his film appearances, making the plot of the Iron Man/Avengers-related films move forward.
Jackson first played the role in a hidden, post-credits scene in the first Iron Man film, where he waits at Tony Stark's home to discuss "The Avengers Initiative." (In a scene that still sends fanboy chills.) Due to the way the scene came across, it was generally assumed that he would fighting alongside Iron Man in the sequel against whatever threat would present itself. That, however, does not seem to be the case, as Fury will likely be a man who simply makes things happen. (Presumably assembling the new Avengers team.) Further strengthening this speculation, Jackson also seemed to imply that his role in the film would be minimized to merely two scenes. In the interview, he stated that "both" of his scenes are with Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson.
When asked if the action would hopefully come in The Avengers, Jackson replied, "looking forward to that, yeah." So, it seems fans will have to wait a while longer to see Nick Fury kicking ass and making evil supervillains look like 10-year-old girls in sundresses.
What do you think about this? Good or disappointing news?

Even though official news about Uncharted: Drake's Fortune making its way to the big screen only broke last week, Naughty Dog has been collaborating with the Hollywood producers involved for about a year-and-a-half, Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig revealed in an online chat with fans on the PlayStation Blog this afternoon.
"We're really excited about the development of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune as a movie," said Hennig. "We've been working with Arad Productions for the last year-and-a-half or so, and couldn't be happier about their enthusiasm for the project. We're looking forward to sharing more info with you all as soon as we can."
With rumors that Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harrison Ford are considering another stab at the Indiana Jones franchise, does Dr. Jones suddenly have competition?

Will The Goonies ever be "good enough" to get a sequel? Apparently, Writer/Producer/Director, Chris Columbus (who wrote the script for the 1985 film) has been told that the door may till be open. Columbus (probably best known for directing the first two Harry Potter films, as well as Home Alone's 1 & 2) is currently working on a film called Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief with none other than Joe "Joey Pants" Pantoliano (who played the villainous Fratelli brother, Francis.) Apparently Columbus got a bit of news on the Goonies front from Pantoliano. According to Columbus in an interview with Sci-Fi:
"[Pantoliano] said that Richard Donner talked to him about six months ago about the sequel," Columbus said. "I think the only way it could be done is if the kids are now the parents, and their kids have become the Goonies. I still think the two brothers are still alive and well, so they could still be in the movie. So it's a matter of whether or not they could re-create that concept."
Rumors for a sequel to the 1985 classic have been rampant for a very, very long time. It seems that every time there seems to be some kind of rumbling, whether it be from Director, Richard Donner, or by some of the cast members, it always seems to fizzle-out unceremoniously, leaving us back at square one. So, it may be a bit difficult to embrace this latest revelation as anything other than what we have been hearing for the last decade or so.
The last time that there seemed to be a great amount of momentum going towards the sequel project was probably in 2001, when the surviving members of the cast, along with Director, Richard Donner, was re-assembled to perform the commentary for the DVD release of the original film. During the commentary, Donner seemed to discuss the sequel possibility in a very "matter-of-fact" manner, as if it was practically ready to shoot. The cast also seemed genuinely pumped to do it. However, that momentum fizzled quickly due to (presumably) various scheduling conflicts. Similar plans for another reunion to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film is set for 2010. Whether it will be more productive than the last, remains to be seen.

As of June 26th, PlayStation 3 owners attempting to access Hulu through the console's built-in, Flash-enabled web browser will find videos blocked and unviewable.
Hulu's terms of service were changed on the 26th, but there are still no specific references to the PlayStation 3. This follows in the footsteps of Hulu blocking Boxee, a third-party solution for viewing web video on a TV. Support for Hulu in Boxee has been off and on.
Engadget notes that this could be a glitch with the PS3's recent 2.80 firmware upgrade, but users are reporting the same error with earlier firmware versions.
Boot up your PS3's and let us know if you're able to watch Hulu videos.
Update: Spong.com is reporting that a possible deal between Microsoft and Hulu for Microsoft to "provide consumers with personalised content and advertising across all media platforms within three years." Could this be the reason for Hulu blocking the PlayStation 3 or just a coincidence?

Movie and TV news site, NukeTheFridge (whose name either represents a sarcastic jab at Kingdom of the Crystal Skull or a deep hatred for William Perry), has exclusively revealed a tidbit on the upcoming Iron Man 2. Was it about something major, like news on the upcoming role of G4's own Olivia Munn? Nope. It was, however, about Marvel God, Stan Lee's obligatory cameo in the film. According to the site:
"Iron Man creator and Marvel comics legend, Stan Lee will be playing "Larry King" in "Iron Man 2." Lee as "King" will interview Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) on "Larry King Live." Stan Lee will be questioning Stark about his new, modified "black" Iron Man suit. Our source has also told us that Stan Lee will be a hidden character in the upcoming video game, "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2." Stan Lee will play a senator in that game."
We've always seen "Stan The Man" in various cameos in Marvel films, almost like a physical watermark tribute to the creator himself. They've always been small, "blink and you miss him" roles that last a mere few seconds. However, this time, it seems Marvel's Living Legend will get a lot more face time, both on the big screen and on the console screen. It's always good to see Stan Lee out and about whether it be on TV (with the cheesy and overly-dramatic reality show, Who Wants To Be A Superhero? being the exception) and in the big Hollywood epics that owe him so much.
Break a leg, Stan. Bust out those acting chops! Show us "True Believers" what's what!

It's been a weekend of grief for fans. Whether it was spent staring at an old crusty poster of an ex-Charlie's Angel (I'll do you the courtesy of not asking why it's crusty), "Moonwalking" while in tears, or making tribute sculptures with 10 packs of "Mighty Putty" of the man who convinced you to make that fateful 3:00 AM phone call to order them, it was a time to mourn....but not for long. You had movies to see!
Predictably, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hit huge this past weekend, after coming off a $60+ million debut last Wednesday. The film, practically ubiquitous at 10,000 screens and 4,234 sites, has raked-in $112 million for the weekend, pushing the domestic numbers to the level of $201.2 million. Successful? Yeah, probably.
On top of that, it has broken records for being the largest June opening weekend of all time, as well as being the highest non-holiday, non-Friday opening, as well. (7th in the list of all-time opening weekends.)
So, Transformers hit big, yada, yada. No surprise, and hardly earth-shattering news. However, there was an interesting occurrence with the weekend box office that has been somewhat overlooked. Sleeper comedy hit, The Hangover has achieved some bragging rights of its own, as its $183.2 million domestic gross (24 day total) has officially surpassed the total numbers for X-Men Origins: Wolverine (which is currently at $177.8 million after 59 days.) Yes, you read correctly! The big-budget comic epic, Wolverine, which was a bona fide hit, and will spawn spinoff films, has now fallen behind to a film that may end up being responsible for a "grown men piss-drunk while traveling with infants" genre. (And more power to them on that, btw.)
However, you shouldn't get the wrong impression. When all is said and done with foreign totals and DVD sales, Wolverine WILL make more money than The Hangover will ever dream of making. (So don't be so quick to brand it a failure, because it was still a tremendous cash cow.) However, it is always interesting when numbers like this pop-up. They are probably the kind of statistics that make film executives who are on the constant lookout for the "next big thing," scream from the rooftops: "WHAT THE F**K DO YOU PEOPLE WANT?!" The answer is probably a simple one: "We don't know."

Electronic Arts has been silent about their non-Boom Blox project with director Steven Spielberg, codenamed LMNO. Nothing has been heard about the game in years. A rumor last week suggested the game might be dead. Not true, according to the publisher, who released a statement to Kotaku.
"LMNO was a code name for a project in development at EALA," said the company. "While the project continues to develop at EALA with Steven, we no longer refer to it as LMNO. We have no further details to reveal at this time."
Very few details had been released about LMNO, other than a single screen shot and whispered comparisons to Ico, one of Spielberg's favorite video games. LMNO might not be dead, but it's definitely under heavy reconstruction, don't you think?

Pour some off the top for a dead game project: Sega has announced that the Obsidian-developed Aliens RPG has been officially canceled. The game's death is not exactly a surprise, but it is a bummer.
"Rumors have circled around a bit regarding the fate of t Aliens role playing game that Obsidian and Sega had been working on," reads a post on Obsidian's official Aliens RPG message board. "Unfortunately, it is true that we are no longer working on the game, and we wanted to finally announce that officially to everyone who has been following its development."
Pay your respects for this dead game at the official board, but do it quick: The board is soon to be dismantled forever.
This is a big blow to fans of the Alien movies, although, in retrospect, it's hard to see how a series of movies that were strictly in the action/horror genres would really work as role-playing games. I, for one, was anxious to find out, though. How about you? Are you bummed that this game is canceled? Or does the upcoming FPS Aliens: Colonial Marines from Gearbox seem like a better fit?

If you played PlayStation 3 action game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and thought, "This is fun, but I wish I wasn't controlling it!" Sony has announced just the piece of entertainment for you: That's right, the big-screen adaptation of Uncharted is officially on its way.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune will be produced by Avi Arad, Charles Roven, Ari Arad and Alex Gartner. and written Kyle Ward, a name you may recognize. Ward is quickly becoming Hollywood's go-to writer when it comes to video game adaptations. Ward is the writer of the eagerly awaited (?) Kane & Lynch movie and was hired to work on Hitman as well.
No other details of the movie have been released. No one knows who will direct or who will star, but that shouldn't stop us from speculating, right? I'd like to see Nick Jonas from the Jonas Brothers cast in the lead, and I'd like to see German art-house director Werner Herzog tapped to direct: Since all video game movies suck, you might as well make it suck in an interesting way! What do you think? Who would you like to see star in this movie?
