Every once in a while, a video game comes a long that you didn't realize was exactly the game you always wanted. Case-in-point: Champion Jockey: GI Jockey and Gallop Racer, a Kinect-powered horse game that features galloping, jumping and further equestrian delights. You can even whip your horst, for you horse-whipping fans out there.

The game comes out for Move and Kinect on October 25 and will feature 19 racing tracks, two player offline play and four player online.

YouTube commenter Monty 1992 said it best, "Crap,? now I don't know what I should get, this or Skyrim?"

NBA 2K12 To Feature Classic Basketball Teams

NBA season or not, according to Take Two games, you'll almost certainly be able to play basketball video game NBA 2K12 in October. I don't follow sports like some people, but I understand Professional Run-Hooping-Ball (aka "Basketball") may not happen this year. The NBA season is in doubt because the league's owners and players can't come to an agreement on player salary caps. The company reiterated its commitment to the release of the game, no matter how the NBA season goes, on a financial conference call today.

According to the company, 2K Sports' NBA franchise is "As close to live action as anything out there," so they feel that basketball fans will buy their game even if there is no real season going on.

NBA 2K12 To Feature Classic Basketball Teams

Lovers of classic basketball, you are in luck. NBA 2K12 will feature "NBA's Greatest" mode, a feature that will allow players to reenact the greatest basketball games of all time, with classic teams made up of old-timers like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Julius “Dr. J” Erving, among others.

You'll be able to pilot 15 historic NBA teams, complete with tiny shorts, high-socks and afro hairstyles galore. Not only that, but you'll be able to pit the throwback squads against current line-ups of NBA teams and settle long-running barroom arguments once and for all.

"We've always talked about that age-old debate across all of sports, especially basketball, the debate that asks, 'Hey, what if today's NBA teams could play some of the historic NBA teams? What if Kobe or Lebron took on Jordan in his prime?'" said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing at 2K Sports.

Below you will find the trailer for Moneyball, a Brad Pitt vehicle about how the Oakland Athletics changed baseball through statistical analysis. "I'm reading a video game blog. Why do I care?" you may be asking.

Because the movie marks the acting debut of Activision head Bobby Kotick. That's Kotick at about 18 seconds in. I'm not sure how or why either, but that's Kotick alright, holding his own with Mr. Brad Pitt. I put a call into Activision to get the story, and hope to hear back soon.

Moneyball opens September 23. The rumor that Activision is already at work on Moneyball 2, Moneyball 3, Moneyball Mobile and Moneyball: Van Halen are totally not true.

The NBA Finals: What Video Games Do Real Basketball Stars Play?

With the NBA Playoffs in full swing and garnering record ratings, NBA players find time to “hit the sticks” for many different reasons. For some, it’s a way to relax before a big game. Others use video games to release anger after a big loss. And some have already seen their real season end, only to start one up virtually. But one thing that defines the majority of NBA players – beyond their love for hoops – is a love of video games in some form or fashion.

“I have Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, the Kinect, Wii…I have all that stuff,” said Miami Heat superstar LeBron James. “I play them all." But what do they like to play, when do they find time to play it, and what is Kevin Love's gamertag? Read on to find out!

Madden NFL 12

The Madden series has been around for so long, and is so beloved, that each new year tends to bring small improvements as opposed to massive overhauls to the series. Our first-look preview of Madden NFL 12 revealed some of the tweaks coming to the next football game, including improved animations for group tackles and a new focus on the games cameras. Miguel Concepcion explains:

"Actual cameramen from NFL Films were motion captured so now you can pick up minuscule POV nuances like how the cameraman tries to limit his breathing. Moreover, these experienced shooters expounded on their experience on how specific parts of the game would be shot, things that are filmed with care that the viewer doesn’t (and shouldn’t) notice. Take for example the limited room a cameraman would have to get close to capturing a quarterback warming up. In a videogame, you can go as close as you like. That’s obviously not the case in real life, where there are distance rules you have to follow, and this will be followed in Madden 12. It might sound like a minor change but should speak volumes across an hour-long game."

Peyton Hillis To Grace Cover of Madden NFL 12Electronic Arts has announced that the new cover athlete of Madden NFL 12 will be none other than Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis. For the first time ever, fans were able to vote for the cover athlete and it all came down to Hillis against notorious Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick.

In the end, Hillis took 66% of the fan votes and in a statement to ESPN, said he wasn't worried about the famed "Madden Curse" saying, "For people to believe in this so-called curse, I can't wait to prove people wrong. From what I believe and where I am in my spiritual life, it would be good to prove them wrong in that sense."

In the 2010 NFL season, Hillis was the first running back on the Browns to run over 1,000 yards in a season since 2008, finishing up with 1,177 yds and 11 touchdowns. Hillis beat out a number of other athletes including Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware, Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis, and Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

Madden NFL 12 is coming out for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and Playstation 2 on August 30.
