2K Sports invites you to graphically compare and contrast their tenth anniversary installment of their baseball franchise with the following MLB 2K10 vs. MLB 2K9 video.

The fans in the all-you-can-eat Dodger Stadium pavilion still look unreal to me. I'm never that animated nor coherent during games after all the food.

505 Games drops the second developer diary for their innovative football game, Backbreaker. Developer NaturalMotion examines their proprietary Euphoria technology that they're banking on to carry the game into the monopoly of the gaming world, known as videogame football. Oh yes, you might've already seen their work if you've heard of a couple of small time games like: Grand Theft Auto IV, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and the upcoming Red Dead Redemption.

I for one, hope this game lives up to the hype.

Curling 2010

I was going to use today's Midday Discussion to respond to the many comments calling me a liberal, commie, democrat, and degenerate in this item I posted.  (I'll cop to "degenerate," but you guys are way off on the rest). But I decided to talk about Curling, the sport of kings, instead.

As you know, I am the most powerful man in video gaming, and two days ago, I called on the video game community to create more curling games. Today, Dadoo games answered the call. Curling 2010 is available through Xbox Live Indie Games, and features all the stone sliding action you could ever handle... although it doesn't seem to allow sweeping, of course there is sweeping, which is integral to the sport.

It doesn't matter if you're an shiftless Democrat, an evil Republican or a half-crazy Libertarian, a relaxing curl will take your troubles away, friends. Discussion question: Where do you fall on the political spectrum and do you like Curling?

It's the Winter Olympics, in case you hadn't noticed, and that means one thing: Curling! G4's offices have caught curling fever -- All the TV are tuned to the Olympic curling matches, and those folks in Canada or wherever who are sliding the rock are garnering big cheers and jeers here at the G4 compound.

So where are the curling video games? Other than an announced but seemingly abandoned Wii game (video below), a section of Deca Sports a Windows 98 game and a couple mobile games, the sport just hasn't made much of an impression on the gaming community. This obviously needs to change.

"It's a tragedy!" says G4 curling aficionado Dana Vinson.

"I think it's sad because it's one of the few events in the Winter Olympics that actually lends itself to decent gameplay. Skiing is just hurling yourself down a damn hill. Curling, on the other hand, is super fun!" Said Mike D'Alonzo, future curling superstar.

With all three consoles soon to be fully motion control enabled, I'd love to see competing, AAA level curling games shown off at this year's E3. I want to be able to scan in my favorite broom in the Natal version (Go, Old Sandy!). What do you think? Are you pro or anti curling?

Will The Monday Night Wrestling Wars Return?

Will wrestling's infamous "Monday Night Wars" start up all over again? Possibly.

Over the holiday weekend, it was announced that starting March 8, Spike TV wrestling brand, TNA will be moving its primetime show, TNA Impact to 9:00 pm on monday nights to go head-to-head with the WWE's flagship of 17 years, Monday Night Raw.

While the uninitiated might be wondering "so what?," or just try to drop an unsolicited "revelation" that wrestling is fake (wha, whaaaat?,) this may be the start of some REAL behind-the-scenes drama that could put the Jay/Conan/NBC triangle of hatred to shame. Let's try to put this into context.

Wrestling Gets "Real." (Sort Of.)

Ideally, this move could lead to a rivalry of companies similar to the one during the late 90's boom where wrestling's popularity was at its apex and it seemed to be seeping its way into all aspects of pop culture. It was the Ted Turner-funded WCW, helmed by Eric Bischoff (who is now a member TNA's creative team,) that turned up the heat on Vince McMahon and the WWE (then WWF,) by procuring much of the company's big marquee former talent like Randy "Macho Man" Savage, and most notably, the icon of all icons, Hulk Hogan. (Although, who will ever forget where they were when WCW stole Virgil?)

Even though baseball is labeled as a team sport, any good fan knows how easily a game can come down to the dramatic interaction between a great pitcher or hitter. The sports equivalent of a duel. This special installment of the MLB 2K10 Hitters vs. Pitchers series focuses on the retooled hitting and pitching mechanics in the game.

Madden 10 Superbowl

I was among the millions (billion?) of people who watched the Superbowl yesterday, and it raised three important issues for me:

1) Why isn't the day after the Superbowl a national holiday? Isn't the mass-event of watching the biggest football game ever a more relevant reason to spend a day out of work/school than, say, Columbus day? That guy didn't discover anything, plus he was straight-up racist. Imagine if you had all day today to recover from your Superbowl adventures! New Orleans could have a parade, and I could have a little bit more time playing Mass Effect 2.

2) I liked the ad with Betty White and Abe Vigoda best of all.

3) No joke: Roger Daltrey of The Who is a dead ringer for my Aunt Penny. He even dresses like her! I'm not just saying this because I lost a five dollar prop bet on The Who's performance. There was a bet on how many times Pete Townsend would do his famous windmill. The over/under was 5 1/2. For some reason I can't remember now, I picked the under. Townsend did that windmill like 85 bajillion times. Bah!

What did you guys think?

New Madden 10 Screens Released

I'm sure you're aware that Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints squashed the Indianapolis Colts yesterday in the Superbowl, and took the victor's trophy and rings back home to Louisiana where they belong.

It was an upset victory. Pre game, The Colts were heavy favorites, with New Orleans viewed as sentimental underdogs at best. Bookies were putting the spread at Colts +4.5, but gamers knew better. Both Madden NFL 10's careful, labored-over prediction engine and TheFeed meaningless tea-leaf reading predicted a Saints victory. Check out the Madden prediction in the video below:

Madden NFL 10 Superbowl Prediction XLIV »

Madden predicted a final score of Saints 35, Colts 31. The vid game came close to the Saints' final tally, but when it comes to the Colts, Madden missed the choke factor: No one at the EA team seems to have programmed in the fact that Peyton Manning chokes like a toddler in a room full of marshmallows when the pressure's on.

Just in time for Superbowl madness, John MaddenElectronic Arts today revealed that the popular John Madden football game franchise is coming to the Facebook platform.

"We have to make Madden more accessible,'' EA Sports' Peter Moore said in an interview with Bloomberg Television. ``You'll see us on Facebook going forward.''

Moore gave no details on how Facebook Madden will look or work, beyond Moore's statement that the game would be a "`simpler experience'' than the console version. We also don't know when we'll see it either, but as soon as EA releases more info on the title, I'll let you know.

So just this week, we learned that the facebook version of Civilization launches in June, and then this news about Madden--what other well known games do you see coming to the Facebook "platform?"

TheFeed's Super Meaningless Super Bowl Predictions

Grab your favorite canned or bottled beverage, mash up a fresh batch of guacamole, don your fanciest team jersey, and get ready for one of the most important sporting events of the year:

Are you ready for some completely unscientific (and possibly fraudulent) probability modeling!?!

The NFL championship is being decided on Sunday in a “throw-ball” contest (as our boss Mr. Juster refers to it as) between the Colts of Indianapolis and the Saints of New Orleans. Like every single other website out there, we put this battle in the hands of Madden NFL 10’s CPU vs. CPU mode to see who will emerge victorious. The final score?

Colts 35, Saints 25

Peyton Manning went 14 for 19 with 270 total yards of passing, while Drew Brees was 15 for 25 with 307 yards in the air. New Orleans had 34 yards of total rushing. Yawn.

However, the game was played with 7-minute quarters, so if we were to use “mathematics” and extrapolate the outcome if real NFL rules were applied, the final score would be more along the lines of:

Colts 74, Saints 53

Considering the explosive offensive capabilities of both teams, this result seems a little more realistic. But like all good scientists, we must be absolutely thorough in our research. Which is why we decided to run the game through a few more simulations. For each simulation, the winner will be granted a point. Whatever team has the most points will assuredly win the game. We here at G4tv.com do not condone gambling in any form, but this article can definitely be used for the purposes of gambling. Let the experiment begin…

Game Before The Game: Madden Super Bowl Predictions »

This weekend, The Saints play the Colts in the bowl-that-is-super. While Madden may have picked the Saints by 4 (see video above,) I'm going the opposite direction. I'm saying Indianapolis is going to win the game by 3 points. Also: I haven't ruled out the possibility of a robot attack on field at the beginning of the second quarter.

What do you think?

EA:

According to Reuters, a teenager in Italy stabbed his father in the neck over a game of FIFA.

The father, Fabrizio R., suffered a cut to the throat after his 16-year-old son, Mario, attacked him during an argument on Sunday over the soccer video game FIFA Soccer 09. Apparently, Pops was advising his son on how to play the game better. An argument ensued. Fabrizio unplugged the TV and Mario unsheathed his blade...

Mario stabbed his dad, then walked into the kitchen and began cleaning the blade, in front of his mother. "I saw Mario come back into the room, he seemed calm, he went to the sink and I noticed him washing a knife,” Moms told a newspaper. "Then my husband came into the room with a hand round his neck, dripping blood."

"We bought him FIFA 2009 because we didn’t want him playing violent games,” his mother told the paper.

This story is tragic in that it could not possibly have been predicted. Who would have thought a guy named after a non-violent video game character would snap after playing a non-violent video game? It's almost like there isn't necessarily a link between violent games and acts of violence!

EA Announces Tiger Woods: PGA Tour 11

Electronic Arts announced today that it is releasing Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 this June. Tiger will also be featured in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Online, which will start open beta tomorrow. Online Tour will be "multi-tier subscription" based, and is described as an "authentic and feature-rich golf video game experience available through a web browser, with no game installation, no disc, and no additional peripherals required."

No real details have been revealed about the PGA Tour 11, other than that it will appear on the Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and iPhone, but until updates are announced, I'd expect more of the Tiger Woods' formula you remember from PGA Tour 10: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

As faithful readers of TheFeed know, this announcement settles a bet. I recently cemented a wager with Patrick "Scoop" Klepek over EA's relationship with Tiger Woods. I bet the company would drop the scandal-plagued athlete from the cover/title of their PGA Tour games, starting in 2011. Klepek was like "no way." The loser agreed to play the entirety of Rogue Warrior on the PS3.

I'm a big enough man to admit when I've lost, so at some point this weekend, I will play Rogue Warrior... and dammit, I'm going to enjoy it. Immediately upon completion of the game, I will be checking myself into a gambling addiction detox facility. Clearly, my gambling problems are out of hand and negatively affecting my life and the lives of my loved ones. Let my downward nightmare spiral of hopelessness be a lesson to all of you: Don't make a bet if you can't handle the payout.
