Would it be a cliche if I said "Boom-shaka-laka" in a post about the new version of NBA Jam? Whatever, man, BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA!  At E3 2010, we chopped it up with Jam's Creative Director, Trey Smith, and he gave us the lowdown on the challenges of keeping the classic look and feel of NBA Jam on the Nintendo Wii.

As if winning the Stanley Cup, Olympic Gold, and World championship medals  weren't enough, the hot-shot Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews will forever be immortalized into the annals of sports gaming covers with his mug set to grace the cover of NHL 11.

G4's Jake "The Gasser" Gaskill knows fitness; where some men have a six-pack, Jake has an 18 pack! So he was a natural choice to preview Ubisoft's Your Shape: Fitness Evolved. Here's part of his heart-rate-raising preview:

"The entire demo session had a soothing air about it, and that's clearly the point. The menus, the calming voice of your trainer, the twinkling soundtrack, and the entire presentation is meant to put you in a calm and relaxed state before engaging in a series of health conscious activities. Clearly, this isn’t meant for shooter fans, but its intended audience will surely find plenty of value in it"

505 Games and the talent conglomerate Kung Fu Factory (UFC Undisputed, Mortal Kombat: Armaggedon, original UFC Dreamcast game) thread together bold images, words and blistering music for the first video evidence of the intended attitude Supremacy MMA will be taking in the genre.

Check out the teaser below and the first image of the game featuring a dingy fighting cage complete with "adult performer" in the background. Their direction is definitely a unique one for the genre, but, will it be the right one?

When it comes to football, there's no comparison between pro and college ball. Those pros are weak; coddled millionaires in it for the money, where the college ball players have heart. We got our hands on NCAA Football 11 recently and put the game through its paces. Here's a taste of the preview:

"The game feels a lot like NCAA Football 10, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the locomotion change is a welcome addition to the ground game, and makes things seen a lot more natural. EA Sports MMA, originally announced at E3 2009, will be hitting stores on October 19.

EA Sports' Peter Moore showed the game off at the company's  press conference, saying that the game will feature fighters from all over the world, going at it in a variety of styles, from Judo to Greco-Roman Wrestling, and will reward timing, consitency and timing over complicated controls. It will also feature rings, cages and training centers from all over the globe.

Moore also revealed that the game will feature EA Sports Live Broadcast, which will allow players to fight in front of audiences of other gamers!

Madden NFL's iron-fisted death-grip on the use of all NFL material for video games is ending... at least for browser-based games. Quick Hit Inc. announced today that it has secured a multi-year NFL license for browser game Quickhit Football. The license includes the 32 NFL team names, logos, colors, uniform and helmet designs, as well as the Super Bowl, NFC, AFC, and Pro Bowl logos.

Bass Pro Shops: The Hunt came out earlier this week, and if you haven't seen the trailer for it yet, you need to. It's a delightful treat showing you that blowing away at every animal living in the woods can be a real father/son bonding experience. "Hunt Over 20 Animal Species!" it brags. Unfortunately the trailer is a bit of a lie, showing off the Xbox 360 graphics while dad and junior blast at everything with their Wii-exclusive rifles, which happen to look like they'd be more at home in Mass Effect.

Hunting isn't new to the world of video games, as anyone who has ever fired a plastic orange rifle at bounding deer in an arcade can attest. But on this scale, and complete with ATV-driving minigames? It's definitely rounded a corner and headed into new territory. But there's a world of unexplored sports out there that need this kind of treatment. We demand multiple-title, Natal-compatible, DLC-having, PSP Go-going versions of these five potentially deadly sports. Pronto.

Awesomely over-the-top golfer John Daly is challenging Tiger Woods in the video game space, as well as on the links when John Daly's ProStroke Golf hits shelves at some point in the future. But, unlike Tiger, Daly is showing up to hawk his game at E3.

Daly, known as much for his off-the-course controversy as his golfing prowess, will descend among the nerds to promote John Daly's ProStroke Golf, a console and PC game coming this fall.

Gaze in wonder at the screenshot above! It captures none of the spirit and fire of John Daly -- that's not even his character model in the picture above; it's way too slim -- but I will. If it is at all possible, I will track down Mr. Daly at E3 and bring back an interview.
