Gran Turismo 5 Reveals New Cars, Courses, Modes, and More

In an interview with IGN, Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi mentioned that his company is working on Gran Turismo 6, saying, "Of course we're working on GT6 already and I think what really will be the separating factor is something that we can't update through a DLC is something that obviously has to be saved for GT6. Things that we can provide through DLC we will, so that's really the market difference."

With this console-cycle nearing its end, and the notoriously long development time for Gran Turismo 5, you have to wonder if the title is planned for the current generation of PlayStation, or will it hit the PlayStation 4?

Like many red-blooded American men, I'm a fan of actress Christina Hendricks' massive talent, and ever since it was announced that the Mad Men actress was to appear in upcoming racing game Need for Speed: The Run, I've been waiting to catch a glimpse of Christina Hendricks in video game form. The wait is over! Check out Hendricks in Need for Speed: The Run in the video below! Watch as every inch of Christina gets scanned and digitized and thrust into the video game world!

(There's apparently a guy named Sean Farris in the video as well... but mostly Christina Hendricks.)

Nintendo logo

Why would video game maker Nintendo be holding a press conference at the LA Auto show in Los Angeles? Why would a video game company reserve the same hall Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Jeep, Kia, Lincoln, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Ram are using at the big car show?

Officially, Nintendo has no comment, saying only that "we’ll have more info coming soon, but nothing more to announce at this time," but that won't stop anyone from speculating. Nintendo has no other presence at the show -- they don't have a booth or anything like that -- leading to the suggestion that the Big N is planning some kind of collaboration with a big car maker.

Christina Hendricks To Appear In Need For Speed: The Run

Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks was just announced as a character in Need for Speed: The Run, as well as some dude named Sean Faris from something called Vampire Diaries. But enough about Sean Faris. Lets get back to Christina Hendricks. The actress plays a "lead character" in the racing game, Sam Harper:

"A woman with ambition, street smarts and a penchant for lightning fast cars. She’s turned her lifelong passion into a lucrative livelihood, managing the best drivers in the cutthroat world of outlaw street racing. In this illicit, male-dominated racket, she’s betting on Jack, the story’s protagonist, by fronting his $250K race buy-in in hopes of winning the $25 million prize. It’s Sam that enables Jack to enter the race as she remains his eyes and ears on the course."

Forza Motorsport 4

We know you'll never drive your dream car, that's why it's called a dream, but you can virtually drive just about any car you want in Forza Motorsport 4! The great Miguel Concepcion got behind the wheel, and gave the car-simulator a spin. Check out a taste of the preview:

The Forza series has long since peeled out of the shadow of its PlayStation rival, Gran Turismo. Forza’s steadier and more reliable release schedule over the years has certainly helped, but more importantly, many genre fans (including myself) consider Microsoft’s driving franchise to be a friendlier, more approachable series than other racing sims. Much of developer Turn 10’s philosophy behind Forza is in creating a game about cars as opposed to being a game about racing. It echoes Yu Suzuki’s classification of Outrun; that it’s not a racing game, but rather a driving game. Based on our recent hands-on time with Forza 4’s gold build, we couldn’t agree more.

Forza 4 preview

G4's Sophie "Gearhead" Prell had the chance to look at Forza Motorsport 4, and found that the racing game's vroom-vroom fast cars tranformed her from a non-car-person to a car-person, just like that. Here's a taste of her evocative preview

"Picture your car - the one you own right now, the one you first owned, or the one you hope to own someday - racing along the Bernese Alps. It swings along the edge of a cliff face on an impossibly tight corner, and as you look forward you see a drop-off; thousands of feet below and all around you, a valley of snow shines brilliant white. If that sounds like a commercial, it's because that's exactly how I felt watching the Forza 4 demo."

Crash! is taking the series back to its roots with the return of Crash-mode. New to Burnourt will be the top-down style gameplay. Burnout Crash! will reward gamers for creating chaos.

The press release for Burnout Crash! asked readers a question then posed a simple answer, "Traffic got you down? Blow it up!" As a resident of Los Angeles I appreciate that. Burnout Crash sounds like the racing game for me.
