Killer Is Dead Confirmed For Summer 2013 Release

XSEED issued a press release this morning detailing its 2013 slate, and sure enough, Grasshopper Manufacture's Killer Is Dead is listed among the upcoming titles. Previously confirmed for release in Japan only, we now know for certain that XSEED will publish the game in North America for a summer 2013 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.

That's not all for XSEED in 2013, however. Joining Killer Is Dead this summer is the Nintendo 3DS RPG Rune Factory 4. A pair of PlayStation Vita titles will follow in the fall: Valhalla Knights 3 and Ys: Memories of Celceta. Next up, however, is Ys I & II Chronicles, an enhanced remake of the first two games in the series that is set to hit PCs sometime in February.

Grand Theft Auto V Release Date Announced

Rockstar Games announced today that Grand Theft Auto V will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 17th, 2013. Mark your calendars, clear your schedules, stock up on Mountain Dew (or actually don't, Dew contains a questionable food additive called BVO - Google it) and get ready to dive head first into Rockstar’s latest magnum opus. Too soon to call it a magnum opus? Nope!

"Grand Theft Auto V continues to push the series forward in new ways; Rockstar North are creating our deepest, most beautiful and most immersive world yet," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months."

Me, I don’t need/want to know anything else. Get me this game! What do you think? Pumped? Bored? Indifferent about the GTA series? Let me know in the comments.

Aliens Colonial Marines

Sega and Gearbox Software release Aliens: Colonial Marines on February 12, 2013, but it seems that there will be plenty more Xenomorph action to come in 2013 based on a DLC Season Pass product listing (via CVG). GameStop and Green Man Gaming both have product listings for a Season Pass priced $26.99 (discounted from $29.99), though Sega hasn't yet confirmed anything relating to post-release plans.

The identically worded listings promise four downloadable content pack releases to be released between March and "summer 2013," with Season Pass owners enjoying a 33 percent discount off the total cost of the four individual packs together. The listings also hint at what to expect, with "campaign content, additional multiplayer maps, new modes, character customization, and more."

BioShock Infinite "City In The Sky" Gameplay Trailer »

Our last peek at BioShock Infinite came in the form of a trailer disguised as mini-documentary on the floating city of Columbia, but this latest one follows a more traditional path. Irrational Games' City in the Sky trailer is your basic, pre-launch runthrough of the story (as we currently know it) and key gameplay elements.

Of course, nothing in BioShock Infinite is really basic. From riding the Sky Line to Vigor-induced powers to your constant companion in Elizabeth, the narrative-heavy game feels like a BioShock adventure through and through. The wait won't be much longer. Infinite finally reveals itself to all on March 26, 2013.

Dust 514

When you’re doing something as revolutionary as CCP is with Dust 514, it can be easy to focus on the bigger aspects and forget about the basic gameplay mechanics that make modern shooters as popular as they are, but, thankfully, through the help of a year-long closed Beta, Dust 514 is continually getting closer to the standards set out by other heavy hitters in the genre while also creating new milestones along the way.

Dust 514 isn’t meant to be just another shooter, but rather, it takes a stance against stagnant innovation by turning the console shooter market on its head with a free-to-play, massively-multiplayer, first-person shooter available to anyone who has a PlayStation 3. That’s huge.

Flashback Due For An HD Remake In Flashback Origins?

Brace yourselves, cyberpunk fans. Flashback, the badass adventure game platformer from 1992, may be getting the HD remake treatment in something called Flashback Origins. The news comes from French site Gamalive (via Eurogamer), which claims that creator Paul Cuisset and his studio, VectorCell, is developing, with Ubisoft publishing.

Ubisoft has yet to confirm anything, but the teaser image above should certainly look familiar to fans of the original. The fact that Cuisset and VectorCell are handling development is a little bit alarming give the disaster that was 2012's Amy, but lessons can be learned. Besides, who knows Flashback better than its creator?

Assuming the report is accurate, it's looking like the plan is to release Flashback Origins sometime in 2013 for download on PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam.

Injustice: Gods Among Us "The Line" Story Trailer »

The latest trailer for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Netherrealm Studios' DC Comics fighter, Injustice: Gods Among Us, is all about the story (via All Games Beta). Or, perhaps, stories. It looks like there's quite a bit going on in this two-minute clip, titled "The Line."

There's some cool stuff happening here even if you're not versed in your DC lore. The trailer is light on gameplay and heavy on cinematics, but you can get from it a sense of the conflict that drives these various heroes and villains to trade punches in various environments.

Fans of DC lore will no doubt see things here that my untrained eyes aren't catching; let us know what stands out to you in the comments!

Black Ops 2

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 launched with built-in YouTube streaming support, and now Twitch.tv is getting in on the fun as well. A morning announcement reveals the new partnership between Activision and Twitch, with streaming support for multiplayer games, player webcams, and audio commentary coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC versions of the game (no Wii U, sadly).

It's not clear in the press release exactly when the new feature goes live, but the wording certainly makes it sound like the switch will be flipped soon. Those who wish to stream will need an active Twitch account of course; having a presence on Facebook and Twitter helps as well, as the feature will automatically update your feeds whenever you're streaming, provided of course that you allow it to.

The multiplayer beta for Crysis 3 launches today on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, and Crytek has a tutorial video that explains how it all works. It's an open beta, so all are welcome; the event will run from January 29 through February 12, 2013, ending a week before the game's February 19 release.

The Crysis 3 beta gives players the opportunity to sample two of the game's eight online modes, Crash Site and Hunter. Crash Site is a 6v6 point capture mode in which every carries the same equipment but defending teams get to grab a shield. Hunter is a variant on infected/zombie modes, with a pair of Nanosuit-equipped Hunters chipping away at a larger team of C.E.L.L. Operatives while each downed C.E.L.L. respawns as a Hunter.

For more on these two modes, check out our Crysis 3 multiplayer hands-on.

Mass Effect 3 DLC Teased In Screens

BioWare seems to be hinting that fans have more Mass Effect 3 DLC to look forward to. Executive producer Casey Hudson and producer Michael Gamble took to Twitter yesterday (via Joystiq) to post a pair of new images clearly marked with the game's logo and some appropriately cryptic comments that reveal nothing but suggest much (second image posted after the jump).

The last Mass Effect 3 DLC, Omega, was released in late-November 2012. Not long after the story DLC's release, a BioWare forum post from designer Jos Hendriks (via Eurogamer) confirmed that "it's all hands on deck" for the Omega follow-up, with the full writing team of eight collaborating on something. Presumably a larger something than previous Mass Effect 3 DLC releases have offered.

What is Game Day 2013? That's what Sony wants you to ponder as you watch the above 16 seconds of... something. The clip was posted on the official PlayStation YouTube account yesterday with no supporting info. All we have to go on is a date at the end of the clip, February 1, 2013. Otherwise known as "this Friday."

The safe bet seems to be that this is a God of War-related announcement, based largely on the woman in the clip's Greek-ish dress and the ash that starts to swirl around her toward the end. Why the secrecy though? It's not like you don't know that God of War: Ascension is coming in March. And what does "Game Day 2013" mean? All will be revealed soon enough.

BioShock Infinite "Columbia, A Modern Day Icarus?" Trailer »

Irrational Games has some more to reveal today about the floating city of Columbia, compliments of the latest trailer for BioShock Infinite. Entitled "Columbia: A Modern Day Icarus?," the two-minute clip runs through the origin of Zachary Comstock's floating city and offers an impression of how it is perceived by those who live on the ground.

There's not much in the way of gameplay to see here, as the trailer is more focused on setting up a basic level of knowledge about Columbia. Fans will have an additional opportunity to learn more about the city in the sky when the prequel novella -- BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt -- arrives on February 12, 2013. The game follows slightly more than a month later, on March 26.

Resident Evil: Revelations

By now you've probably heard that Capcom's Nintendo 3DS-exclusive Resident Evil: Revelations is being remastered for a console release, but now we know that the HD version won't be heading to Sony's PlayStation Vita. Product manager Mike Lunn talked a little about the PlayStation 3 release on PlayStation Blog, and he explained to one commenter the reason for the Vita being left out.

"When we were developing Revelations for new new platforms, we really wanted to hone in on the experience you get with a large format screen, surround sound, etc. This type of setup really helps players get sucked into the horror vibe and enjoy the game to its fullest extent," Lunn wrote. That's a pretty lame thing to hear if you're a PS Vita owner, being that Revelations was originally designed for portable play.

Kingdom Hearts Voice Actor Drops A Big Hint

What could be coming up soon for Kingdom Hearts? Jesse McCartney, Roxas voice actor for the English-language side of the series, tweeted a photo of a mic and an image of Roxas on a monitor, pair with the text "recording for the next chapter" (via NeoGAF). Both have been removed, but that only further fuels the speculation.

Joystiq's Mike Schramm suggests that McCartney is recording dialogue for a North American release of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix, an HD collection that will be coming to PlayStation 3 in Japan on March 14, 2013. The collection packs together three games -- Final Mix, Chain of Memories, and 358/2 Days -- into one package. Nothing's been officially confirmed, but don't be surprised if that changes in the coming weeks/months.

Ubisoft Announces Assassin's Creed 3 Season Pass; “The Tyranny of King Washington

Ubisoft now has a confirmed release date for the first part of Assassin's Creed 3's alternate universe story DLC, The Tyranny of King Washington: February 19, 2013. The full title for episode one (out of three) is actually The Tyranny of King Washington: The Infamy. The DLC is confirmed for release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

The episode opens with Connor Kenway awakening from an upsetting dream only to discover that the United States of America has embraced monarchy rule and crowned a king in George Washington. Connor immediately sets out to bring down the king and his rule, bringing freedom to the young nation. The press release notes that all AC3 DLC will be available for Wii U, but there's no mention of a release date yet for that platform.

Episode one will cost $9.99 / 800 MS Points a la carte, though all three episodes are also included in the Assassin's Creed 3 Season Pass ($29.99 / 2,400 MS Points).
