Assassin's Creed 3 Comic-Con 2012 Panel: Five Things We Learned About Ubisoft's Latest Adventure

If you nabbed yourself a copy of Assassin's Creed 3 late last night (or later this morning, for all of us who got Sandy'ed last night), then you'll probably find a day-one patch waiting for you as soon as you fire it up. Ubisoft recommends downloading it before diving in -- as if your gaming console of choice would allow you to do any less! -- because of the many fixes it makes.

You can read the full patch notes at Ubi's forums, though beware that you'll see some spoilers there. Nothing huge, mind you, but enough that you might want to just avert your eyes and allow the patch to work its magic. The short, spoiler-free breakdown: things work better now than they did before.

Hitman: Absolution does everything possible to immerse you in the dramatic experiences of Agent 47, including putting a huge emphasis on the dynamic audio you'll listen to during your play through. In the video below, Hitman: Absolution Game Director Tore Blystad and Audio Director Thomas Bartschi walk you through the process of creating the title's polished Hollywood-style score.

Hitman: Absolution will be available on November 20 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Activision saw many nods of approval with its live-action Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 trailer starring Sam Worthington and Jonah Hill, so is it really any surprise that we've now got Robert Downey Jr. popping up in a live-action Black Ops 2 trailer directed by Guy Ritchie? Downey leaves behind his Iron Man armor, but he was at least smart enough to bring a jet to a gunfight.

Only one thing about this trailer confuses me. Horses? Are there horses in Black Ops 2? Or is that part of the trailer just meant to appeal to those who are attracted to blonde women riding horses? If anyone can explain, please do. Otherwise, the wait won't be much longer. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 hits stores on November 13, 2012 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC (and Wii U on November 18!).

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Two new PlayStation 3 ESRB ratings for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (technically a re-rating) and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas suggest that the two Rockstar Games hits are heading to Sony's console as PS2 Classics releases (via PlayStation Lifestyle). Grand Theft Auto 3 came to the PlayStation Store in September 2012, so it stands to reason that the other two last-gen games will follow it.

We learned only last week that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will soon be coming to iOS and Android devices in celebration of the game's 10th anniversary. A simultaneous PS2 Classics release on PSN would be pretty nifty, though here's hoping we won't have to wait until 2014 for the 10th anniversary release of San Andreas.

None of this is confirmed, of course, but an ESRB rating is generally a safe bet that a release is incoming.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Promo Materials Point To Spring 2013 Release

It looks like Rockstar Games is shooting for a spring 2013 release for Grand Theft Auto 5, based on photos of leaked promo materials posted by GTA-Five.pl (original link is dead, image via All Games Beta). Take this with a shaker full of salt, Internet. Nothing's real until Rockstar confirms it, as convincing as this image might be.

That said, the chances of GTA 5 showing up in spring 2013 were high already. Rockstar hasn't shown much of the upcoming game beyond a 2011 teaser trailer and a handful of screenshots, but its games historically tend to be released in spring. What's more, we reecntly learned that Game Informer will be getting an exclusive look at the game in an upcoming issue.

Even if this purportedly leaked material isn't legit, chances are still pretty high that we'll be returning to Los Santos in spring 2013.

Black Ops 2 Clip Nukes Nuketown

Posted October 26, 2012 - By Adam Rosenberg

Nuketown is back in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and you can take an early peek at it right now thanks to this newly released clip. It's a short one. Perhaps not as "blink and you'll miss it" as J.J. Abrams' world premiere look at Star Trek Into Darkness, but definitely "close your eyes for five seconds and you'll miss it."

Black Ops 2 arrives on November 13, 2012 with Nuketown 2025 in tow for those who pre-order the game. Nab the Hardened Edition or better and you'll also receive a Zombies version of the Nuketown 2025 map. For now, all you get is five seconds of boom. Enjoy.

Ubisoft has released the trailer for "The Far Cry Experience," a 4-part mockumentary for Far Cry 3. The survival web-series will star Superbad actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse. "The Far Cry Experience" was designed to give gamers a way to explore and interact with the world of Far Cry 3 before the game is released. The web series will answer the question, "What would happen if a gamer was immersed in a video game world?" Who knows, you might even develop a few real survival skills...but probably not.

Dishonored DLC Announced

Three add-on packs are coming for Dishonored. The first of the three is called "Dunwall City Trials." Dishonored's "Dunwall City Trials" DLC will be released in December for $4.99 (or 400 Microsoft Points) and will include 10 challenge maps designed to "test and track your combat, stealth and mobility skills." The ten trials include an arena battle against waves of enemy AI, a "gravity-defying run of drop assassinations," and a race against the clock.

"Dunwall City Trials" also features a new set of achievements and trophies as well as a global online leaderboard that will establish the greatest assassins for each challenge.

Killzone HD Comes To PSN Next Month

Those who have never experienced the shooty-shooty joys of Killzone have a new opportunity this week with Sony's release of the Killzone Trilogy set. The boxed retail release includes both of the PlayStation 3 games -- Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 -- as well as the newly remastered PlayStation 2 title, Killzone HD.

Those who already have either or both of the PS3 Killzone games might not want to pick up the $39.99 trilogy package, but Sony's got that covered. Killzone HD is also available as a standalone release via the PS Store for $14.99. The download is bafflingly a PS3-only release, even though the content-starved PS Vita could certainly handle this retro revival.

God Of Wars: Ascension Pre-order Bonus Nods To 300

Those who pre-order Sony's upcoming God of War: Ascension (out March 12, 2013) from GameStop will receive a multiplayer DLC pack that allows you to do a little bit of 300 cosplay with your avatar, PlayStation Blog confirms. The pack includes the armor worn by Gerard Butler's King Leonidas in the movie and the spear that he and his 299 fellow Spartans plunged into Persian flesh again and again.

Sure, 300 was released more than six years ago, but I'll give this DLC a pass since Ascension is the first God of War game to offer multiplayer. Frankly, I'll give any game a pass if it gives me an excuse to sit in front of my TV and bellow "This is Sparta!" as I cleave through hordes of human-controlled warriors. Take note, developers.

Irrational Games delighted BioShock fans everywhere this week by releasing a stunning, action-packed new trailer for its eagerly awaited BioShock Infinite. The new "Beasts of America" video revealed entirely new footage, introducing us to new locations, enemies, gameplay elements, and the extremely violent side of Columbia. As is customary with such a detail-filled trailer like this one, we have broken out a few of the trailer's juicier reveals and compiled the following easily digestible list of some of the key things we learned (after piecing our brains back together that is). Enjoy!

7 Things We Learned From the BioShock Infinite

1. Welcome to Columbia

It’s hard to say if the opening shot of Booker in a dingy riding through a rain storm on his (and whoever is in the boat with him, maybe Elizabeth?) way to a foreboding lighthouse is the opening sequence of the game, but it’s obviously a direct reference to the opening of the first BioShock wherein we see Jack on a plane looking at a package and a picture of his “family” just before the plane crashes. Whether it’s the beginning or the end, either way it’s the perfect way to get BioShock fanatics like myself jazzed and chomping at the bit to see more.

And taking a closer look at Booker’s box-o-plot-teasing-items we can see pictures of Elizabeth, a postcard for Monument Island, a piece of paper that appears to be a ticket of some kind from New York City, a couple gold balls (which also look a little like cufflinks), a super quick peak at what could be Booker’s Pinkerton badge, a slick Luger, and a key with an image of a cage (Songbird reference perhaps?) on it. Talk about a “boat load” of stories, huh?
